Unfortunately my multiple experiences at scaglios is not as favorable as the others here. If the staff does not know you, expect to be ignored. One or two customers at counter, five men working behind counter and no one acknowledges your presence. Not we will be with you in a moment, nothing. But what’s worse, the prices are extremely high, the quality good but not great, and they sure know how to pile on the wrapping paper on the scale with no attempt to tare the weight. It doesn’t get better. On more than one occasion, when I watched the scale but the counter staff failed to notice I saw the price, they«accidentally» wrote the incorrect price on the package, last time trying to charge me $ 26 for chicken that the scale said was $ 22. This has happened more than once and I consider it a pattern there unfortunately. The cashiers are also cold and not very nice. Caveat emptor.

Wonderful meats & seafood, specialty cheeses, cookies, breads & a small but well chosen selection of produce. Staff is knowledgable & helpful. Well worth the price.

Sgaglio’s is a great butcher… more so than anything else, Sgaglio’s is a classic butcher(without the sawdust) where knowledgeable butchers help you get the perfect meat(or fish) for your meal and will advise on how to prepare, cook, etc. The meat is EXCELLENT. There really is a difference between a good butcher and supermarket meat, not to mention a much wider selection. In addition to meats, Sgaglio’s has lots of accompanying gourmet foods, breads. and fresh vegetables for sale, but for me it’s primarily our butcher. One issue, it’s not cheap. This isn’t Food Lion or Walmart, but you’ll appreciate the difference. It is cheaper than eating out — that’s how I justify it.

Excellent little shop with great meats. Great selection for such a small place. If I lived in the area I’d be there daily!

Many small towns don’t have the ‘luxury’ of a place like Sgaglio’s, with high-quality meat, imported pastas, English marmalades, fancy seltzer(!!), and spices. We cooked some steaks that were simply delicious, and we got some nice cheese, including mozzarella di bufala. It’s a small, but quality place. For some quality steaks, be prepared to take out a second mortgage on your house. There were some misses, like the chewy, rubbery rolls, a tomato and mozzarella ciliegine salad with onions(red onions and mozzarella balls together are a no-no, the onions overshadow the delicate taste of the cheese), and some bland rainbow cookies(or «7-layer», if you must). That being said, it’s not quite the only show in town, but it’s a major contender.
