This place was super clean, quiet & conveniently located near shops & beach.
The rooms were huge. It had a kitchen
fully stocked with hardware, fridge, microwave, blender, toaster, stove, can opener, coffee machine. Large sofa and small dinning table. Free & fast wifi. Cable TV.
Front desk & housekeeping ppl were really friendly. I got a fair price on Expedia for a Mon-​Fri stay w/​air fare. So I can’t really comment or compare on the hotel’s actual price. Hotel is only 10 min from airport.

I Have Been Staying At The Plantation Hale Suites Since 2002 Thur 2016 For A Golf Tournament Every Year Since And Never Been Disappointed Staying There Ok So Its Not The Resort That Takes Care You On Your Beck & Call So Go Stay At A Resort And You Will Find Your Vacation Will Be Very Expensive There But When You Are Gone All Day Long Doing What Ever Your Into Golf Seeing The Sites Of Kauai Or Shopping Too You Will Find Staying There You Will Be Very Comfortable You Don’t Have To Go Out And Eat Every Day They Have Kitchens In Your Room So You Can Go The Grocery Store To Buy Food To Make They Have BB Q To So When You Are Spending All Your Money At The Resort To Survive Stay Here And You Will Be Able To Do Alot More On Your Vacation Do Not Believe Every Thing You Read These People Should Stay At A Resort So They Can Have There WINE & CHEESE And By The Way When You Turn The Lights Off It Looks Just Like A Resort Room HA HA Go Check It For Your Self They Do Have Pools And Jacuzzis And Nice Walk To The Beach Real Close To Get too Enjoy Se Ya In May-​2017

We book this trip about a week in advanced. We requested a room with a queen bed and when we got to our room we found two doubles, called front desk and they said it was a first come first serve. The layout of the unit is nice, but if you get an end unit or one on the side that the highway is on you won’t get any sleep until 11PM. Speaking of sleep, those beds ugh, I think Fred Flinstone at some point slept on them! They are ssoooooo old and uncomfortable, unless you love the therapeutic feeling of springs in your back all night long. Also the edges of the mattresses are way higher then the middle, fight through the night to keep from rolling into your partner. I tried to sleep in the second bed by myself and it was even worse!
The only plus I can see is parking was first come first serve and no problems finding a space.
In summery: if you just need a place to stay for one night this will do, don’t stay long term! If you do plan on staying long term don’t book your stay through through the resort, some of the units are privately owned so book through VRBO it will be a lot cheaper. I found this out after booking (mistake!).

This was a great find for the money. Our suite was huge and the location was solid. Our room was clean and well maintained. As great place to explore the island from and nice people.

Our room was on the first floor and we could hear people walking from the room above us.
The room and furniture were pretty old. Had a kitchen, refrigerator and microwave. Found a cockroach in the coffee maker.
My wife had new mysterious bug bites in the morning. Not sure if it’s from the bed since I didn’t have any bites.

This hotel may not be the Marriott, but for the money it’s as good as it gets. Everyone on the site was friendly and helpful. The location is great– right in the middle of the east side of the island so you can get to the north in 30 mins or to Waimea in 30 mins. The rooms are very clean and light. You cannot beat the full kitchen if you’re going to be on the island more than a couple of days. The food in restaurants is pricey but it is in the grocery stores too. (Cheapest loaf of bread $ 4). Talking to the people that actually live in the Plantation Hale is another asset to hear about the politics of the island, secret places to go or places to stay away from. The beach is a 5 minute walk across a nice open field.
I already have my reservation penciled in for next year. I LOVED this place.

It’s taken me 2 weeks to be able to write this without crying — I miss Kaua’i so much. I’ve traveled the world and always been glad to come home. Not so with Kaua’i. I want to move there.
ANYWAY…We had a fabulous stay at Plantation Hale — we paid $ 25/​day extra for the best room with ocean view — F14 — a short delightful walk to the beach through a field of flora and fauna on a gravel path, lovely view, very clean kitchen and bathroom, not a crowded place — not run down like many hotels (embassy, marriot, and even intercontinental mark hopkins in sf?!) — kitchenette was handy so kids (5 and 8) could get themselves a bowl of cereal at 4am before used to the time change — never cooked a full meal (my vacation too!) but the kitchen was certainly prepared for it — but eating in Kaua’i was less expensive than where we live, so we made the most of it! — the rooms were a warm modern style — cleaning personnel never interrupted us, came in the late morning or early afternoon I guess (we were out), laundry was clean and reasonably priced (yes. I did laundry. Only so much I could get away from.) A/​C worked reliably and refreshingly, bed was more comfortable than my tempurpedic at home?! I usually can’t sleep the first few nights away — no problem here — though our high usage of energy daily probably helped! Lanai was nice but I’m not used to the humidity so once back at the room, we typically stayed inside unless it was early morning coffee — but then we wanted to walk to the lovely beach instead of hanging out on our lanai. A/​C unit is on the lanai, so noisy in the evenings, but closing the slider worked. If it were cool enough to hang out on the lanai, it wouldn’t have been on, and not a problem.
Pools were fine — we didn’t really have time to go there — I have pool access at home! But when we did, locals told us a few places to go, again, welcoming us to their home island instead of hating tourists — very friendly people. Pools were like apartment pools, but they were clean and well maintained. I love Plantation Hale because, as far as I can tell, 3 buildings seem to be rented/​owned and 3 buildings (maybe 20 untis each) are hotel rooms — so you see locals — and they wave or «shaka» you. You kind of feel like you live there.
Check in with Crystal on the phone 2 days before trip and then upon checking in — LOVE HER! She made us feel welcome, not like tourists — like welcoming us to her home. I can’t tell you how much that meant to us — her lovely smile at the end of our loooong morning flight and excursion — we truly felt welcome!
We loved the gorgeous beach — and without kids we might have risked swimming there — we walked the shore a bit and got our feet wet, but with kids we didn’t risk swimming here and headed to the 9 beaches with lifeguards!
This is a smaller hotel with a local feel and warm lovely employees — and we would definitely return again! As soon as possible. *sniffle*

The location is perfect! Walking distance to store restaurant. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. We rented out condo unit directly from owner we stayed at unit C-​15. The unit is descent. I’m giving it 2 stars because of the following. 1.) the room needs to be updated looks old, the finishing is run down. The board panel on the floor by the kitchen comes off and there’s 2 small nails sticking out (so dangerous if you don’t see it). 2.) bathroom tub is super old and it has stain looks really dirty that my 2 year old daughter is afraid to step in the tub, during bath time I have to carry her in the shower (so stressful for vacation) 3.) kitchen vent is soooo dirty it has to be clean, when we cook the entire unit smells food we had to open all doors to let the smoke out. 4.) the bed is old it’s not comfortable sleeping, in the morning hurts my back my husband has to give me back massage every morning 5.)the pull out sofa bed in the living room where my teenager was sleeping the cushion sucks too, good thing my son is a good sleeper. After 3 days sleeping in it he complained his back hurts 6.) No Flash light, on our last day there was a blackout and we looked around the condo there’s nothing we can use. Oh yeah there’s candle but no match we had to go to the lobby and ask for match and they say they don’t allow candle since its fire hazard which is good. When I returned the flash light we borrowed the front desk person said that all the rooms that they manage has emergency light… I guess it’s okay to stay here only if your unit is through Plantation Hale management so it’s well maintained.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 week and found it very economical, comfortable and clean. Internet service was reliable. The air conditioner was in the bedroom which I would have preferred it in the living room. The positive side of this is that we didn’t hear any traffic. We used the outdoor gas BBQ everyday to cook our dinner. The kitchen was well equipped with most eating utensils but was lacking any roasting and baking pans. There were grocery stores near by and a market place across the street. It’s within walking distance of an OK beach and has 3 onsite pools.

Very nice for the dollar. We stayed in a recently renovated suite. Very nice interior. The AC wasn’t running when we arrived and it took the better part of the evening to cool the room off, this is a small thing. Maid service was great and very thorough and friendly. The pools were clean and family friendly. Front desk staff was great. The buildings could be better labeled. I would recommend this as a nice quiet place to stay while in Kauai. Not set up for more than 4 or 5 people, especially teenagers. Would need a bigger room or 2 rooms for comfort. We arrived after hours and had to call the security guard. He got us our keys and we finished check-​in the next day. Very nice after a long travel day!

We arrived late at around 10pm and got the wrong room. However the next morning they worked hard and by 10am they were in the room we had asked for.
Great service; clean pools and clean rooms and exactly what you would expect for what you paid. It’s not a top of the line hotel but neither is it mediocore.
I was very happy with the prompt staff service and would go back again. The road noise is not as bad. My suggestions is to add 2 additional stackable chairs in the balcony so that a family of 4 can sit outside comfortably.
Traffic does get bad around 5pm on the road outside so we tried to time it so that we would beat traffic.
Food is really convenient and we sometimes walked over to the Macdonalds. I found nearby Safeway to be the cheapest and best value for money. They have a good breakfast burrito that we would pick up some-​days. Panda express and Phở restaurant in the Safeway center are good places to get food. We drove to Dukes one day for a nice meal.
The best beach we found on the island is Lydgate state park which about 5mins drive from this hotel. Kayaking is also next door at the river.
All-​in-​all this place is very centrally located between the south beaches and Waimea canyon on one side and the north beaches on the other side.
Lydate state park and Poipu are in my opinion the best for families because there is ample parking and you don’t have to rush early in the day to get to the beach. The North beaches are terrible for parking. I’m one of those people that believe a holiday has to be relaxed and we go to the beach when we wake up on island time and I don’t want to hassle about city life issue like parking, so I would definitely not go to the north side beaches.
Loved this place, loved Lydgate beach. thank you Hale for a great vacation!

Let’s make this short and sweet–
Pros:
–central location with easy access to all sides of the island, access to restaurants & shopping centers
–clean and (mostly) quiet
–felt safe
–reasonably priced for a 1 bedroom suite
–a lot of rules
Cons:
–no gym
–3 pools, 2 hot tubs, but not that exciting
–a lot of rules
–you can hear traffic as early as 5:30 am!
My stay here was great as I’m not into staying at resort hotels or hotels for that matter. I prefer low key, peace and quiet when I’m on vacation. If you’re into the bells and whistles this place is not for you, but if you want a great location, and easy access around kauai, you’ll enjoy your stay at plantation hale.

If I could give this hotel zero stars I would. We have five people in our room and called ahead of time for an early check in… Did that happen? No. Was our room set up for a five person stay when they told us it was okay? No. There is no shampoo and conditioner. I called the front desk for an extra blanket for the pull out couch and they said «can you have someone get it?» Seriously? You asked me if I can pick up from up from the front desk? I can’t believe the lack of customer service in this hotel. I would recommend this hotel… to no one. What a horrible, unorganized establishment. I am so disappointed. Not to mention the joke of the pools they have.

We stayed here on the last night of our weeklong trip to Kauai. We picked it because it was significantly less than some of the other options we looked at and we should have known better because you get what you pay for. The front desk agent was… dull…and not very helpful but did get us checked in finally. When we got to the building where our room was, we discovered we were on the 2^nd floor and there were no elevators so we had to lug all our heavy luggage upstairs.
When we entered our room, we were immediately hit with the strong smell of seafood. Although the unit looked clean, the previous guests must have cooked or at least eaten seafood in the unit and perhaps left the remnants in the trash because it STUNK. We immediately opened the sliding doors to help air out the place and it helped a bit but didn’t fix the situation so we left the room and only returned to sleep. We didn’t bother complaining because we figured if just checking in was so taxing for the front desk staff, they’d likely be overwhelmed and unable to handle the situation.
While the beds looked nice, they were extremely uncomfortable and none of us slept well. Although this hotel was cheaper than the others, it wound up being a rip off/​waste of money because it was a very unpleasant stay. Next time, we’ll spend more to get clean smelling, comfortable accommodations.

So far, so good. Been here now for about 4 days and am happy. The place is spacious and we are comfortable with the separate living space and bedroom. We are staying for 16 days so wanted it to feel like home. Not happy they are spraying for bugs today and we must leave the place, but will do so. The price of everything is much more expensive than our time last year in Kauai. I booked this place through Expedia and did not realize after paying my hotel off that I would get here and have to pay $ 224 more for «fees» upon arrival. This was outrageous. Wifi, parking, etc. Wish these would have been told to me.

Please be aware that this hotel like most promote great photos showing spacious rooms. I was very disappointed with the size of the rooms, felt more like a dorm!
The so called Deluxe suite I booked just turned out to be an upgraded suite with new curtains carpet and bedding/​furniture. Seems most are upgraded deluxe suites, I also fear this organization practices Bait and Switch tactics!
Close to beach– NOT! Can’t even see the beach! So don’t expect a short walk to the beach from your unit!
I booked this for 5 nights! How miserable !
1950’s stove in kitchen bares no resemblance to the website pictures of the so called deluxe unit. Old cupboards that smell moldy! With all the upgrades a new kitchen would make a BIG difference!
Overall doesn’t even deserve 1 star!

Stayed here 5÷31÷14
First, know that I can be comfortable both camping and at high-​end resorts. (Next time I will find a garden studio to stay in.)
I wouldn’t stay here again — it wasn’t horrible (it had a full kitchen and the 4 of us were not cramped), but it wasn’t the right choice for us:
We found cockroaches in our room
The facilities weren’t kept up as nicely as I would’ve liked
The beach by the hotel is not one where I would want to spend any time (Hard to believe since it’s Hawaii!).
There are also a lot of rules that one must follow, which didn’t give a great baseline relaxing feel.
For only being about 200 cheaper than other places for a week, I’d go for something else. We picked this place because we thought a more central location would be good for getting around the island (we stayed in Poipu last time), but realized that the «improved» location didn’t have as big of an effect on our trip as we thought it would.
Bottom line: The location and small savings is not worth it — maybe a more recently upgraded room would be worth it.

Teetering between 3 and 4 starts. Probably won over by the actual room itself and cost more than anything. The room has been completely upgraded. New carpet and tile, new furniture and vanity… same old tub enclosure? Same old closet that you didn’t even bother to put paint inside or put new shelf liner in? Also what is with the locked closet door full of old books and broken elastics and tacky gold picture frames? You guests can see into the bottom of it. Take10 minutes and clean it out.
Super positives: comfortable spacious room. Nice new furnishings. We were only staying one night but could see how the full kitchen would be fantastic. Linens were clean and beds were made neatly. Cost was far below most other hotels in the area.
Unfortunate negatives: I won’t mention any I have already talked about. NO ELEVATOR. Probably the biggest problem we had after traveling all day with children was carrying suitcases up stairs. Seriously management, listen to your reviews and invest in some elevators. Housekeeping: close the doors when you sweep. Things were clean except behind the doors in both rooms. Really disappointing.
Overall we were very happy. We’ll come back.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. If you want to do a lot of sightseeing, it’s very convenient to stay on the east shore (driving either to the north or the east shore takes approximately 45 min).
The hotel doesn’t have a swimmable beach, but Lydgate Beach is nearby (1.5 miles away) and I highly recommend that beach. It’s very family-​friendly.
The hotel itself is good for large groups. My boyfriend and I felt like the apartment was too big for just two of us. The bedroom has 2 full-​size beds, the living room has a couch, but we ended up sleeping on the floor next to the balcony because: 1) beds were too soft and springy; 2) it’s so hot in the best place to stay cool is the floor space near the balcony. Yes, there was an AC in the bedroom, but I personally prefer open windows to an air conditioner.
The kitchen was equipped with lots of stuff, BUT there was no kettle to make tea. I don’t drink coffee and only drink tea, so a kettle for me was vital. Had to boil water in a pot. The stove was very old, it took a while just to boil water, and I realized I was not going to use it for cooking. The fridge was spacious.
The staff at the front dest was very friendly and helpful. The concierge Holly is a sweetheart and gave us tons of information about the island and its attractions.
Our room got cleaned daily. Here’s the thing though. The hotel positions itself as a GREEN eco-​freindly hotel. There’s a sign in the bathroom that says something like: if you want your towels to be replaced, leave them on the floor. Otherwise keep the same towels which helps to save water.
OK. I thought we can reuse our towels and maybe change them in 2 – 3 days. However, the cleaning lady kept changing all the towels, even those ones that we deliberately left hanging on the hooks…
Anyway, next time we are in Kauai, we will stay somewhere else.

If I could give this place NO STARS, I would.

After a long day worth of traveling, we were ready to get settled and explore the island. We got there around 4pm and ready to check in. They told us our rooms weren’t ready, because it was being renovated! Whaaaat?! Okay, so we patiently waited and went to grab something to eat, took care of rental car stuff and headed back around 530pm.
…room, still not ready! So we decided to grab dessert and drive around ka’paa a little bit. 630−7ish we got back to the hotel and it was FINALLY ready! We settled in, to come to a room that had a leaking water from the bath tub and toilet within a few hours.
Since it was late (and could not get a hold of the front desk, because the phone kept ringing)…we decided to just call it a night because we had to get up early for our Napali rafting tour at 5am.
The next day, after our rafting tour… we came into a room of about 4 – 5 workers fixing the plumbing problem, without us being warned. It was nice to get the problem taken care of. BUT on and off throughout our stay of 5 days, we had plumbing problems. Toilet bowl would not fill with water, so we could not flush. Shower head water pressure would cut in and out and would feel like someone was just spraying water at you. Not fun… to make matters worse, we would call the front desk and NO answer… just constant ringing. We would go to the front desk out of frustration just to get our problem fixed. Very irritating…
The craziest part about this place, is we put our «privacy please» sign up, and about 8 or 9am in the morning. I get up, and find a maintenance guy in our bathroom placing a towel rack/​holder and he looked SHOCKED to see me! I was a bit startled, and he said «Sorry, they told me to come in here and put this in. This room is being renovated, I didn’t know anyone was going to be inside».
That’s when I had enough. We were in a room being renovated!!! and people could come in and out as they pleased!!! That did not sit well with any of us at all.
On our last day, we asked for a late check out, because of things we had to take care of, and our request was denied because another family was coming into our room. We complained about us having to wait till 7PM to check in! and they said, sorry we cannot do anything about it and would «investigate» why we had to check you guys in so late.
Finally, after we grabbed breakfast and about to check out (this was about 30 minutes before we had to check out) we were trying to get into our room… and we got LOCKED OUT, because our keys did not work anymore! We all looked at each other and were extremely upset.
Conclusion:
This place was horrible. Horrible service. Wish they could’ve at least offered us another suite, or comp some of the things that we had to deal with. Free dinner, drinks, price off the room… SOMETHING to make this situation a little better.
The location is beautiful, close to the marketplace, beach, etc… but this stay in Kauai would’ve been PERFECT if we stayed away from this place. I can’t wait to go back to this island, but I will definitely find another place to stay.
Tips:
I know it’s an island with lots of creatures. BUT, be ready for roaches in your room :)

Have been staying here on business on and off for the past 3 years and most recently came back and many room have been completely upgraded. Nice furnishings, comfortable couch and TVs in the LR and bedroom. Love having the kitchen when staying more than one night so you can just get some groceries, stay in and relax or work :(. Love having the bedroom separate form the rest of the unit. Doesn’t feel like a hotel at all which is nice when you have to travel a lot.
The guest services are very friendly and accommodating. Large parking lots so I have never had trouble finding a good spot near the building. Our company uses this location often and it is well worth it.

We stayed here for 8 days and it was worth every penny we spent on it.
We had rented out condo from an owner so it came with a lot of amenities, this might be different if you rent from the management or some other owner. The place was equipped with two TV sets, a lot of towels, beach towels, boogey board, beach chairs, ice box, cooking utensils etc. We could not rent any movies from the main office because we rented from a private owner.
This place is located near a very nice marketplace with local shops, mostly typical tourist shopping. There are two nice resorts in the walking distance if you are interested in some nice drinks and spa services. The town of Kapa’a is the most populated town in Kauai, so there are plenty of local grocery stores and shops to purchase your weekly supply of food. It is uniquely centrally located that you will end up driving to any tourist attraction but nothing is too far. The beach that we had access to was not so much fun so we didnt stay there for more than 2 hours.
If you are looking for a nice quiet place with central location! This is a right choice.
