Thistle Vintage Studio

Pretty unfortunate. My family and I walked up to Thistle today, we weren’t even to the curb yet and were greeted with, «I’m closed honey, if you’re headed my way,» in the most snippy tone of voice as she was hurriedly shuffling items back into the store. Poor choice of words for potential patrons. «Hey guys, I’m so sorry I’m closed for the day today, please stop by again, here are my hours,» would have been preferred. Sadly, I can’t give a review based on anything else about Thistle, and I never will as I won’t be going back.

I really like Thistle. Its limited space means you may not find what you’re looking for, but they have some really great items nonetheless. I’ve never haggled prices here because I think they’re very fair. I was looking for lampshade frames (the wire ribs only) to make beaded shades. The owner (who I find incredibly friendly and really like) showed me four, but pointed out that one had one rib missing and said I could just have that one. I liked that, and that’s how you create repeat customers.

What a waste of space! A store filled with overpriced TRASH. The owner is very unpleasant and unwilling to negotiate. Your time would be better-​spent at the antique mall across the street.

I like a lot of things but Thistle suits me well. More than anything, I like that it packs a lot in a reletively small space without feeling cluttery. But make no mistake, it is kind of cluttery but that’s exactly what makes a great antique/​thrift store.
There’s a good mix of new old and old stuff and the owners have done a great job of curating the merchandise so it’s more than the dreaded swap meet/​junk/​rummage sale.
The staff was friendly and personable but definitely let us browse at our own pace. It was a really nice experience. I found an amazing marionette that probably 1 in a 100 people would describe as amazing and that makes it all the more amazing.
Prices were reasonable and I look forward to going back.

Fussy, unfriendly pricy and limited in both space and inventory, I was not impressed.
They seem to group everything by color, not interest or functionality. Fru Fru gone frumpy, its just below so-​so.
