Theis Park

Awesome park for watching Shakespeare in the Park. I love the location — right next to Nelson-​Atkins Museum. The rock wall that surrounds much of the grounds make you think of other historic parks in the area. It’s always well maintained, and serves as a great venue for a ton of cool events! Perfect place for spring picnics too. Bring a blanket and relax with an afternoon of frisbee.

Either packed for some small hippie event circle on your lawn or gaping wide open and barren for miles. Oh Thesis Park how I love the random opportunity you provide.
I love to visit here at night as the sun goes down and the lights over the plaza sparkle on the horizon. The Nelson Atkins art and lights beam through the open lawn and usually you’re the only one out there; beautiful. You can sit on the lawn and be certain to possibly sit in poop but the lawn is always cut very short… perfect for a blanket.
The ordinal stair section makes for a good exercise jog if you want some cool 300 type landscape to sweat over and there are no wires or anything to block you if you want to throw a frisbee or two.
Clean, smells decent and no kids screaming about. My kind of park.

Very nice park with great views of the museum, fountains and the plaza area. Quiet clean and a great place to go to events

Oh Theis Park, I have…
— gawked and eeeew & awwwed at the Nelson-​Atkins from your lawn
— I have started my Aids Walk walk many times from your soil
— taken my beloved dog to run and play upon your grasses
— thrown a frisbee poorly across your airwaves
— watched earth day and reggae fests on your open field
— walked across you to get to the other side
…hardly ever dodging trash but always amazed at the amount of goose poop that is left upon you. You don’t posses much besides a great green open field surrounded by trees, but I think thats a pretty nice thing to have in our busy little city. Thanks Theis Park for all of the memories, I look forward to even more.
