I love love love this place! If anyone ever asks me to go here I will go in a heartbeat. Why you may ask? I’m not a huge salad person but when I find a good salad with the right components I will cling to it! I highly enjoy salads with meat and fruits, I don’t know why, but my taste buds love it. To get to the point, if you’re like me with this, order the Insalata Brassica & add shrimp(my absolute favorite!!!) or Garden of Eden! So tasty and not plain at all as the ingredients and salad dressings are so flavorful and fresh. These salads are coming from the already created salad menu so it makes it easy to pick one if you’re unsure of a combo to mix up or short on time. Of course if you want to create your own salad they have a variety of «mixx-ins» This restaurant makes it easy because they break it down on the menu by category so you can make a well designed salad. This is posted on the wall in large letters when walking in. When you walk in you stand in line, order, and can watch them make your salad. The salads are a good size so it is not necessary to get the full size if you’re not a big eater like myself. Salads come with a bread roll and you can choose from white or multi-grain I believe. This place is so modern, open and clean. I love the tasteful music they place… think Wonderwall by Oasis… Go here by yourself or take a friend! It gets an A+ and would recommend to anyone!

If you like salads, The Mixx is the place for you. They have a good variety of options sure to please anyone. It is quite amazing watching how quick they process orders. The lines are long an may make you give eating there a second thought, but they move quickly. Service is friendly, but they keep the line moving quickly so don’t expect to have an amazing customer service moment. Prices are good. Mini salads are $ 6-$ 9 which was plenty with me. They come with a roll. The roll was just meh.

What I like about the mixes the variety that it offers out of all the other restaurants in the area. It gives some unique options other than a typical hamburger that you might find another restaurant. I seem to know the guys in the kitchen pretty well, and they’re always really nice to me. I will continue to go back as I really find value and quality in what they offer.

The service today was really abysmal. My office ordered lunch at 10:59 today for a going away tribute to one of my colleagues. We got there around 11:40(it was supposed to be ready at 11:37) and they had yet to even start working on it. We waited… and waited. No one checked back in with us. Finally at 12:10 they gave us our order. What’s the point of pre-ordering if you still have to wait? Didn’t even get an apology. What’s worse is that the food was just thrown together. Sandwiches in disarray. Sadly, I think this spot is off the table for office orders. Pretty disappointed.

Came to the Mixx for a quick healthy lunch. Love all the options but one of my toppings was the rare tuna as the protein. I took a first bit of my tuna and«crunch»??? Whaaaattttt??? Why did my tuna crunch? The tuna ended up being partially frozen and not thawed out. Shame on you Mixx!!! Frozen tuna that is supposed to be cooked rare? BIGFAIL! For the price of my salad, I probably won’t return as Constantinos is right around the corner.

Be careful which location you buy their giftcards from! Apparently, the cards are only good at the location purchased. Heaven help you if you try to use a plaza card at P&L location — I got yelled at for daring to do just that. The ingredients are fresh, but it doesn’t make up for the rudeness. If you want a custom salad in P&L– go to Cosentino’s — same stuff, no attitude.

Bleck — this was so bad. The place is dirty and the food was revolting. I feel bad because I’ve never given one star before, but this deserves it. The only saving grace appeared to be(please note the word«APPEAR») the salads. I unfortunately did not order one, but they looked good — had to be a damned sight better that the sandwich special that I ordered, which was allegedly their version of kahlua pulled pork. The only thing special about that thing was my level of disgust.

Gotta love the Mixx for a quick and enjoyable bite to eat. I usually go with one of the specials, which tend to be super healthy and unique. It’s a bit expensive for just a salad so I usually go with the mini size, which is plenty of food.

I don’t understand the mediocre reviews. The only downside about this restaurant is their location in downtown KC. It’s hard to access and parking is a nightmare. Try the Plaza location if you don’t want to mess with traffic. With that said, everything I have ever tried was outstanding. My favorites are the Garden of Eden salad, tuna nicoise salad(even with a fried egg) and chicken sando with a delicious pretzel bun. Their daily soup, sandwich and pasta special are always delicious. I love this place and wish they had more locations throughout KC.

TIP: They don’t have a store front facing the street. Go into the courtyard near the fountain. It’s across from Chipotle. I ordered the Vegan Artichoke Soup and it was wonderful — very smooth. No salad for me today, as I wasn’t that hungry and it was cold outside. Tip, if you want to save a few bucks here, order a small salad with no meat. The ‘small’ salad is fairly large. Adding chicken is a few bucks more but it is good. I probably eat here three times a week and my friends do also. They are very consistent with interesting salads, and a soup menu that changes daily and often includes vegan options. I am currently on a low fat diet so this was very helpful. Once again, I was very satisfied with lunch at The Mixx.

I’m completely sold for the tuna nicoise here. Been to both brunches so far got a fried egg at the one in power and light and a boiled egg in the other. Not sure why. But nice fish. Fresh and not powdery(tuna powdery if u get what I mean)

The Mixx in the P&L District has a wide variety of salad options and sandwiches that make for a nice, light lunch. If you are downtown, this is probably one of the better options for lunch. They’ve got a wide variety of options and you’d have a lot of different combinations before you had to repeat. I’m very partial to Caesar dressing but I’m not a big fan of theirs. It’s certainly on the fishier side. However, they have a lot of wraps and sandwiches that are pretty tasty and filling, all at a good price. They used to have some awesome garlic potatoes but I’m pretty sure they are gone, which is unfortunate. Good lunch option. You can go healthy, or less so. Nothing spectacular but all good.

I really don’t have many positives to say. I’d just rather spend my money elsewhere. I think this location is terrible, in that there’s terrible signage. I’d looked up the location online beforehand, and couldn’t really tell where it was, when I was considering parking. It is confusing to figure out how to order. I couldn’t see where the menus where, at first; and then I stood there for quite a while trying to get any employee to make eye contact with me. Once one did, he just gestured with his eyes which other employee would eventually help me. I watched several employees marry a bunch of tubs of food, which was just unappealing. Someone else had a large kitchen container and was throwing various food into it with tongs — again, unappealing. I yelled louder than one does at a fast food drive-through when I ordered my food. The idea for exposed surfaces and concrete floor is curious to me, considering that the price is really about 15−25% more than I think I should pay for what I get. The space results in a super-loud dining experience; and this is not the place to meet, if you want to hold a reasonable conversation with people. My wrap was fine, but nothing great, and even with the resulting pool of dressing on my plate, still too heavily dressed.

Another great spot for lunch downtown. I wish they were open later for dinner and had better hours on the weekends. Food is amazing and you can’t go wrong with your choice.

Hey, that was yummy. Not perfect, but still great. We had Shrimp Salad Sandwich and Waldorf Chicken Salad Sandwich. Some things needed a little salt, but I can see trying to please the masses where sometimes you have to add a little seasoning. Next time, I want to try one of their sweet treats, but too full today. A little pricey, but seriously could barely make it through half of my sandwich!

It pains me to levy such a low rating upon a place I so much enjoy, but I feel it is completely fair. I’ve never once had a meal at Mixx that I didn’t really love. I’d echo the recommendations of other Unilocalers on the Garden of Eden salad, which I more than occasionally crave. You can build your own salads, but the combinations they’ve imagined on their menu options are all great, right down to the dressings. I find myself using the delicious roll that comes with the salads to sop up every last bit of tasty dressing from the generous bowl of goodness. Pro-tip: I’m told the only difference between the«mini» and normal salad sizes is the amount of lettuce used to fill the bowl. The quantity of other ingredients is apparently the same, and this seems to be true. I can’t speak a lot for the sandwiches, except to say that every one I’ve ever tried has been excellent. When I think Mixx, though, I think excellent salads, and that’s what I usually get. Unfortunately, my Mixx cravings better come at a time that is convenient for them. I’ve been burned so many times by the inconsistent hours. While they seem dedicated to their location on the Plaza, they seem content to not make the same commitment downtown. I work nearby and have more than once tried to get something for a late lunch, only to be met with a locked door. This from a restaurant that half-heartedly had night hours, but not long enough that anyone really could have gotten used to the idea. Some kind of consistency is required if I’m going to be a regular at your business. A couple of other quirks I should mention: –The ordering system can be a bit confusing. If you want salad, you go right up to the salad line and place your order. If you want a sandwich or a special, you place it at a kiosk in the middle of the line. There are signs that KINDA explain this, but it is confusing if you’ve never been there, and it isn’t your fault. This could be a problem of them not staffing the order station or not providing directions. –The price isn’t crazy, but it isn’t cheap. You certainly get what you pay for, at you get a freshness and quality you won’t find at many places when you come here. Still, if you knew what you were doing, you could assemble the same salad at many salad bars for probably half the price. But you don’t know what you are doing, do you? And that is why we both pay what we do for exceptional salad. Maybe The Mixx didn’t get the downtown reception they expected, but I made a point to eat there late and show my appreciation for their hours. I feel like they never gave it a chance. Let me people in on your excellence and we’ll tell the story. Perhaps over an evening salad.

Mmmmm salads! The Mixx certainly has other options, but I just can’t pass up their salads when I’m there. Made fresh right in front of you, I enjoy the fact that you can just tell them right on the spot what you want and in it goes. The options are many and if you just can’t make up your mind, you can also pick from a menu of predetermined salads. The Mixx has pretty cool vibe going too. Modern fixtures and plenty of seating make for a nice dining area. During the lunch rush this place does fill up, but a seat is generally available. The staff has always been courteous and quick. The folks who toss your salads up are very quick! Overall this is pretty great place.

This is the tale of very highs and very lows, and how the combination puts The Mixx firmly in the middle. These people make some killer salads, to be sure. There are oodles of build your own options, starting with your choice of seven different lettuce mixes. From there, The Mixx has so many options that frankly I can find it a bit overwhelming to order. That being said, once I finally decide on my salad fixins, I’m usually VERY happy. I highly recommend the pear ginger vinaigrette, it’s fat free and delicious. This all makes a light and delightful vegetarian lunch, but for the carnivores out there, there are meaty salad options as well. The sandwich options are also great, with premade selections and yet another build-your-own menu. Typically I go for the salmon BLT, but the Veggie Stack is dang tasty as well. They have tilapia tacos with black beans and jalapeño-lime sour cream. Mmm mmm! So that’s the good. The bad? They are wildly inconsistent with their hours, which keep whittling away. It’s like soon The Mixx won’t be open more than a random 30 minutes a day. They say it’s because of slow business, but when you are closed during posted business hours, it trains people to not come. It’s business 101, and these people need to go back to school.

My coworker told me about this place and I decided to go with him for lunch. It wasn’t too busy around 12:20?(I forgot what time we got here) and there were still a bunch of tables left. When you enter, there was a zig-zag line to get salad or you can go to the podium and order a sandwich among other things. I ordered the Classic Blue($ 9.95) with the pasta side and a can of soda for $ 12.78 total. The sandwiches came with either chips or pasta as a side. My coworker ordered the Providence Melt($ 8.95 I think) with a pasta side and nothing else. We sat down and put the number cards on the stand that’s on each table so they can give the food to the right table. We waited a few minutes before our food came to our table. My food looked good and it was too bad I didn’t have my DSLR camera. My Classic Blue was delicious and it filled me up just right. My coworker’s Providence Melt looked good and he said it was good, too. I’ll have to come back to try the other stuff on the menu and bring my DSLR camera.

They don’t do everything well and if you go a few times, you will figure out exactly what makes the cut and what doesn’t. Some of the food is under seasoned, so my suggestion is to go with soups, pasta and salads– which are great. My standby is the Shanghai Chicken salad, which is jam packed with flavor! I love the chicken sando, which is served on a pretzel bun, but the chicken is pretty flavorless. Desserts are fabulous. Menu items are pretty pricy, but if you are like me, you are willing to pay for freshness. Park in the Consentinos garage and walk from there.
