I have visited this location for almost 10 years now and it is STILL great food, great customer service, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Kansas City area! Taqueria Mexico should build a couple more locations in the KC area! Love love love this place!

This place is amazing. We stopped in while visiting Kansas City. I went in with a party of 6 and everyone raves about how good it was. Will definitely recommend my Kansas friends to stop in.

I go here pretty frequently because it is so convenient, but man do they need to up their game in the flavor department. Every time I go, I try something new in hopes that I can find an excellent dish. I’ve had the shrimp chimichanga and it was disappointing and uninteresting. The ONLY thing in the tortilla is shrimp. I’d like them to put rice, cheese, sour cream, ect. in the the tortilla as well. The quacamole has been flavorless and brown. I’ve always had neutral to ehhhh burritos or enchiladas. I see myself just not that interested in eating there in the future because of the somewhat boring flavor profile.

Was invited here by my brother and his wife so it wasn’t a well thought our plan to go to dinner. They were actually already there and we joined them. He ordered fajitas and was only given three tiny shells to eat them with. A ton of meat! I had enchilada and really didn’t like the sauce at all, it tasted like it came from a can versus being homemade. I had a taco and the shell tasted a little stale. Parking was good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again, there are better places in the area.

I thought that this place the food was awesome. I had chicken enchiladas and a taco. The food was hot and I ate every bit of it off my plate. I ordered beef enchiladas but they gave me chicken enchiladas and I am glad because it was delicious. The service was not all that but it wasn’t bad. I had tea and she never refilled it. I would go back again.

My wife loves Mexican food. This is known. We have tried all sorts of chains and restaurants around town, but for us, the Taqueria Mexico chain seems to be the best and most consistent chain. We stopped into this location on a whim and we were not disappointed at all. Firstly, we were sat alone in what could have been their party room. We caught the tail end of the lunch rush, so the other seating was a premium. No problem. We like it quieter. My only concern was attentiveness by the wait staff. It ended up not being an issue. We ordered sodas, cheese dip, and our entrees. It has been a while since we’ve visited this chain and we had forgotten how good the cheese dip was. Definitely some of the best around. The sodas, however, were not. The mix was waaaay off. Super sweet, too much syrup. We informed the waitress and we replaced the sodas with iced tea. For entrees, my wife got a couple of enchiladas and a chicken taco. I tried something new. I went with the Bistec Mariposa, hold the jalapenos. Incredibly good. Glad I tried something new. Other than the wonky sodas, it was a wonderful stop. We are fans of Taqueria Mexico.

Very good chimichangas and good service. The salsa is good after you mix it with the hot salsa.

I am thoroughly surprised this place doesn’t have better reviews after frequenting it over the past year with my girlfriend. We always come back because it’s always what we expected. If you want some authentic cuisine, you need to check this place out and step out of your comfort zone of chicken enchiladas. They have a very large menu and alot of items other restaurants do not serve. The reason I keep returning overall? The street tacos. They are a $ 1.50 any day and absolutely delicious. If you visit here you must try the Carne Asada or the pork ones. They’re spinach cheese dip is also to die for. I will say they’re salsa may not be the absolute best every time, and the service isn’t fantastic but the food is pretty damn good. If you want great service and you want a nice swanky restaurant go somewhere else. Just be aware you may be missing out on some delicious food for a great deal. Note that the Olathe location isn’t suggested and this one has always been the best experience for us.

A must try for LUNCH! Best lunch menu of any Mexican restaurant of any Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Nearly dinner sized portions at lunch prices. The lunch fajita special is truly outstanding. Food is a tad spicier than I prefer, but overall this is a GREAT place to eat.

I went in today and ordered combo #1 which is 2 enchiladas with rice and beans. We got salsa and chips with that. Like always, the food came out fast. When the food came out everything looked good. After cutting into my enchiladas I noticed the cheese hadn’t even melted which, I didn’t mind. I ate my food and at the end I dipped a chip into the salsa. I noticed an eyelash inside it. At first, I was doubtful and grabbed it to make sure, the thing even had mascara on it! I told my waitress and I also mentioned I wasn’t wearing any type of makeup. She responded by saying that she didn’t either. She then called the manager without me asking. She went up to me and asked me what was wrong. I told her the same thing. All she said was i’m going to ask them to change the salsa. Never got an apology from either of them. Will not be going to this place again.

Every time I come to eat here I am greeted and the staff are amazing. Food comes out fresh and is prepared as I expect it to be. Don’t forget the live music which makes the surroundings just that much better!

I really like this place– the food is fresh, the staff is always incredibly nice, and the atmosphere is good. I really like their outdoor seating too! We ordered micheladas and they were great– so was the seafood-steak-peppers in the hot pot(sorry, can’t remember what it’s called). And if you’re craving sweets, both flans are so good. Although you should ask them to hold the chocolate sauce.

Perhaps I’m spoiled by decent TexMex, but this place just didn’t do it for me. We didn’t eat anything terribly offense. The service was a little light on the charm, but overall efficient and timely. Of the three tacos I tried(carne asada, chorizo, and al pastor), the al pastor was the best, if not a touch greasy, but they were all a little greasy. Chips and salsa were underwhelming and not the freshest version of either. The ground beef in Mr. P’s crunchy taco tasted bland, like plain beef with no seasoning. Overall, I’d skip across the street or down SW Blvd for future TexMex.

I love mexican food and am always open to new places but this is by far the worst place I’ve ever been to. The salsa tastes like spaghetti sauce. I couldn’t even drink my margarita because it was so bad. I had to order a diet coke instead. The fajita burrito was extremely bland. On top of the awful food, our server was awful. He never checked on us once after receiving our food. It took 15 minutes to get a check. Save your time and money and travel a little farther down southwest boulevard for some better mexican! Update: food poisoning.

This place has drastically declined. I have been here before and enjoyed both the food and the service. Today neither was up to par. We wanted to sit on the patio. We had 15 in our group, but there were only 12 chairs available outside. The hostess was very adamant about not trying to accommodate us(maybe move three chairs outside temporarily?) And even more adamant that she had set up an area inside and that was where we going to sit. Her tone was rude and did not get the visit started positively. Service throughout the time we were there pretty much sucked. No one had a large order, mostly just a taco or two, but it took forever to get our orders. I know some at our table got a second drink, but I have no clue how because I only saw our waitress when she took our order and delivered our drinks, food, and checks. It took quite a while after we were all done to get our checks. I had a margarita and a cactus taco. We also received chips and salsa. I remember the chips and salsa being very good. Today they were not. The mild was nothing but tomato. It tasted like it had tomato paste added. If there was garlic, onion, or cilantro in it I would be shocked because you taste nothing but tomato. The hot was better, but nothing to be thrilled about. The margarita was terribly bitter. Super cheap margarita mix and just had an after taste of lemon rind. The taco was the best part. I liked it, but being my first cactus taco, I can not compare it. I was disappointed that it came in a flour shell instead of corn as requested, actually the waitress asked me, «you want that in a taco shell, right?» Not sure how that was messed up. Overall the experience was not good. What was once a good place has went downhill and is now a must skip along SW Blvd.

Trying to locate a good place in KC for breakfast taco or burrito. I had the Huevos Con Chorizo which hit the spot but was pretty bland so had to add sone salt/pepper. Salsa“s and chips were decent but not the best. My wife’s Chiliquilles(sp?) was very good. Overall good place, will go back and try something different.

Accommodated our party of 10 quickly. The salsa is very mild, puréed and tastes ok – wouldn’t come here for the salsa. I loved the queso blanco. My large portion ceviche was fresh and not too«limey.» My daughter ordered the cheeseburger from the kids menu and said it was«perfect»(take that how you will – she’s 12). I’d return here if in the neighborhood.

Typical Tex Mex — ok food if you’re in a hurry and dont mind a greasy gut bomb! Service is great though, so there’s that!

Standard mexican food — not amazing, not terrible. Honestly, large portions & their mole is AMAZING!!! Salsa is a little sweet(like spaghetti sauce) & the red enchilada salsa wasn’t very good. Staff was FANTASTIC. Came here rushed — they helped us quickly & made sure we were taken care of in the limited time we had. Very happy with that.
