Was in KC for the Fashion Show, and my daughter set me up w/​Travis. Great guy, great place, good tunes, good vibes, and a great trim. Replete w/​advice about replacing regular shampooing with daily conditioner, vastly improving my hair’s texture and look. Highly recommended.

GREAT SALON for GUYS! I am pretty easy going guy, EXCEPT when it comes to my wig. I am in town for just the day to explore KC and I thought «what better way to start a daycation than with a haircut!?!» I wasn’t disappointed. I walked in and the décor and vibe is great. Everyone seemed to be happy to be there including the customers. I was promptly greeted by Crystal and was in a chair in seconds. She used a straight razor and it came out BEAUTIFUL. She was very friendly and personable and recommended some great spots for me to check out around town (Mildreds). She truly loves what she does and it shows through in her work. Keep up the great work people! Kudos!

This was my first time going to Silver Screen Salon and I got a great haircut. The owner took a lot of time and care in my cut and I think he did an excellent job! I would highly recommend him. One thing I liked about him is that he seems to have a truly masculine brain, by which I mean he didn’t ever do two things at once, which I loved because it meant that he really focused when he cut my hair and didn’t chat, which I find kind of tedious at salons. However, this meant that when he talked to his co-​workers (which he did at length a couple of times) he stopped cutting my hair and focused on that while I just sat there with my head down waiting, which felt kind of awkward.
The reason I didn’t give five stars is that the price of the cut was substantially higher than I was expecting. I found them on Unilocal and their profile says that a women’s haircut is $ 30 and it lists them as a moderately priced salon. In actuality, the cost was $ 59 for the cut, which is almost double! I was not expecting that and think that they should clearly state their prices when there is such a disparity.

I am visiting Kansas City for 7 days for the College Board AP reading and saw the beautiful & eclectic place in the district. I booked an appt & the service, my hair was done fantastic! I will definitely recommend the place & Travis! I am from DC!

Tahki has been my barber for close to a year now. I wasn’t sure of what I wanted but he had a good idea of what would look good and I’ve been coming back ever since. Highly recommended, you cannot beat the quick, thorough, comfortable service he provides.

Since moving to Kansas City last year this is the first and only place I’ve had my hair cut. Travis runs a great salon, very friendly people and excellent coffee! Crystal cuts my hair, I would recommend her to anyone– she’s very personable, easy to make an appointment with and gives fantastic haircuts!

Best salon in KC! I have been going to Travis for about a year and I always get tons of compliments on my hair. I highly recommend the balayage process if you’re like me and go 6 – 8 weeks between hair color.

I’ve been to this salon twice, and both experiences have been great. The salon has a great vibe, and everyone working there is always so friendly. My most recent appointment was to get a haircut and balayage with Tasarah, and I have never been so happy with my hair! She really listened to what I wanted, offered some of her own advice, and did an overall amazing job coloring and cutting my hair. I didn’t want to lose a lot of length and was nervous about cutting it (I’m sure most people have had the experience of asking for an inch off, only to have a stylist cut off much more than desired). However, she carefully cut off just enough to fix some damage and give my hair more «flow» than I’ve ever seen it have! In coloring my hair, she thoughtfully placed color to brighten my faded hair up quite a bit! I definitely recommend her as well as this salon in general! Favorite in Kansas City.

I am very picky about my hair and have been with my old stylist for 10 years but Silver Screen is closer to my house and I had heard good things about it so I thought I would try it out.
I walked in and my stylist Crystal Hill greeted me at the door. She was so friendly and we went over everything before she started. I came in for a highlight and cut. She did an AMAZING JOB!!! she even happily took pictures of my hair so I could show it off. She’s so meticulous to detail and made sure I was 1000% SATISFIED before I left. She made me feel great about my hair and I ABSOLUTELY love the job she did. I am a forever customer of hers now!!!
I also love the atmosphere of the salon. It had such a great contemporary urban vibe.

I had my haircut here months and months ago so I can hardly remember it. BUT I did remember I loved the cut at the end. A friend of mine in Seattle usually cuts and colors my hair whenever I see her but it was going to be a couple months and I needed a cut bad. I have very long dark brown with balayage/​ombré hair that goes past my mid back. I docked a star because the haircut took nearly an hour and I just wanted to clean up my ends with 1 – 2 inches off and an overall trim. The hair cut did take a while but she did a wet cut with a little bit of a dry cut at the end to clean up the layers. The salon is a bit pricey (considering I get my hair work done for free from a friend whose family has had salons for generations) but I checked in for a Unilocal discount and they had additional coupons for future visits.
Highly recommend going to this place for a cut!

I thought that will all the praise and high rating, this place would be good. I had asked for a shampoo and style, with the style being a blowout. Upon arriving, the main guy was still finishing up with a client which was fine and a girl had told me she was going to wash my hair. She washed, slightly dried it, then he had me come up to his station, dried my hair (into a frizzy mess, not a blowout) then had me go back down to the girl to use a straight iron. I felt like I was in a game of ping pong. I was very clear what I wanted, straight with volume at the roots on top, and received neither. They couldn’t figure out how to achieve volume and on top of that, my hair wasn’t even that straight and super frizzy. I’ve only ever had this problem with salons who were inexperienced in working with curly hair, which they assured me that they’ve worked with curly hair many times. After all that, he tried to charge me $ 40 for a service I didn’t even receive that well (and didn’t tell me about the $ 15 charge for flat ironing). Not only did I lose out on time and money, but I now have to go to another salon to get it done the right way.

My stylist at Naturally in Crown Center moved. I loved him but wasn’t a huge fan of the salon — pricey.
Found Silver Screen through Unilocal and made an appointment for two color processing and mentioned I wanted balayage in my hair. (Heard you could decrease the amount you had to get your hair processed with that tecnique). I have long thick hair (naturally brown, gray) that has blonde highlights. I’m not a huge fan of being in the chair as long as it takes to get my hair done.
Travis a real pro (although the first time he was running late by about thirty mminutes (have not had that experice since). Talked about what I wanted: keep the blonde and no gray. He advised that balayage might not be possible with my current color situation. He ended up doing a two ccolor process with some of the balayage highlights. I’ve had three differennt people work on my hair in the salon — embarrassed that I don’t know thier names besides Travis.
I could not be more thrilled with my hair — it looks amazing. I just love love the color. They are pros and nice — what a great combination for a hair stylist.

Travis Crall is like a mad genius with hair. He masterfully fixed a bad color job, gave me a super cute Lob (that’s a long bob) and always spends time making sure I know how to take good care of my hair and style it well. The prices are great and you can even book your Appts online so no calling and toggling back and forth on my calendar and phone.

I Was very happy with my experience here! I’m avid Unilocal user so did a little searching and came across this little gem, all reviews were very spot on and I’m happy I gave it a chance. :) I wasn’t happy with a cut Id gotten elsewhere and was able to get something I loved, I’d recommend this place to anyone, check it out!

I’m from out of town & was looking for a haircut on a late Monday afternoon. I looked on Unilocal & started going down the 4 & 5 stars looking for somebody open. A couple of places listed Monday hours but Travis was the only person that answered the phone. I told him I needed a haircut tonight, he said come on. Turned out to be a good move. I got a great haircut & Travis is a genuinely nice guy. I would recommend him and his salon. I overheard a couple of customers talking about how nice he was & how much they liked their haircuts.

Cute salon, good music, and easy to find a parking spot! Ask for Kevin because he is incredible. I got my hair colored for the first time and got blonde ombré and it looks beautiful and natural-​exactly what I asked for. I loved how Kevin asked all of the other stylists for their input to ensure that I was getting exactly what I wanted! Not only that, he is a phenomenal person and could not stop laughing for the 2 and a half hours I was there.
Reasonably priced and an overall A+

Needed a new style and a new place to get my haircut. After a friend sang praises for Kevin at Silver Screen Salon I decided to give him a call.
This is a nice salon down in the Crossroads. It is spacious and decorated in Hollywood movie style. There are theater style seats in the lobby area to sit in while waiting and pictures of retro stars stars and movies throughout the salon. The stations look like the big make up mirrors. Excellent themed décor to go with the name.
I told Kevin he could really do whatever he wanted and I was ready for something different with some very little restrictions. I was absolutely thrilled when he was done. He took the time and really came up with something that fit my desire for a style that is very quick and easy and different than what I have been sporting for years although subtle. I can’t believe how much thicker it feels now after his work. Really a magician!
I highly recommend stopping and visiting Kevin. You will not be disappointed. He is a little quiet at first, but once you get talking it makes the experience even that much greater!
I did not know it when I made my appointment, but there is a first time customer check in Unilocal deal and when looking at the business today, I noticed a coupon you can buy. Another plus for me is a business that does Unilocal promotions.
