Roots & Branches Salon

I was looking for a Salon when I first moved to Kansas City a few months ago and a friend recommended I go to Kayla at Roots and Branches. I am so glad that I found this place! The salon has a great atmosphere, convenient location and easy parking. It was very important that I find a hairstylist that not only does a great job with hair, but makes me feel comfortable with trying new things and working with me for different styles. I have been to places where the stylist is too forceful with their vision or makes me feel like they are working against me – the total opposite of Kayla! She is great and I recommend her and this salon.

I have been going to Kayla Mullarney for over six months now, and every time I leave, I am so impressed with my experience! Most recently, she did a balayage and a haircut, and I love how it turned out. I told her to do whatever she thought would be best with the color, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. Although I feel I can be challenged when trying to style my hair, she always is giving me tips on how I can achieve the look I want. It is so nice to have a hair stylist who gives advice on styling it, rather than just styling it and sending you on your way.
Roots and Branches is such a cute salon with all of the conveniences you could want with a salon. I really like the ability to book my appointments online, and I love the products they carry including Kevin Murphy and R+Co.

I love Molly! Awhile back I decided to cut off a significant amount of hair; I now have a pixie cut. This hair style could have gone really wrong, but Molly did it perfectly. I could not have asked for a better stylist. I moved to New York recently and everyone keeps asking who my stylist is. One person even told me it was the best haircut they had ever seen! Molly now has a client list waiting for her in New York City!

I had the best experience for my hair and self. It was amazing. My stylist was so concerned with me and helping me relax.

I have been going to Molly for a couple of years now and am always happy. It’s nice to have someone you trust with your hair; Molly always knows the right thing to do.
The salon has a nice relaxing feel to it, it’s warm and cozy as others say. It’s always clean and products are well stocked. There is an area in the front with some locally made crafts and others items for purchase, always fun to browse when waiting for my appointment. Parking is convenient, just across the street. I usually go around noon and then head over to the River Market for a quick lunch or to check out some shops.

This boutique salon is truly a unique gem! You walk in and feel right at home, every stylist greets you and everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating! Molly, the owner, who is an expert hairstylist and very personable. She listens to what you want and also guides you in a direction to continually keep your hair healthy and in the best shape (which is extremely important for myself). I appreciate that the salon is always impeccably clean and is designed in a way to relax you! I would recommend this salon to anyone whom is looking for a great hair stylist (all of the stylists are great). You can consider me a permanent client at Roots and Branches Salon because I believe that trusting your stylist and hair salon is really the most valuable thing you can do!

There is no question why Molly was named the best hairstylist of Kansas City; highest quality of services, very friendly and personable, based in a beautiful facility.

Molly, the owner of Roots and Branches Salon, is terrific! I went in for highlights, and whether you want something subtle or bold and daring, she really listens. I have black hair naturally, and my highlights are exactly what I wanted: a rich, chestnut color in some areas to a medium golden brown that catches the light. The best part is I could pay twice as much (or even more) at other places but Molly’s rates are incredibly reasonable. Definitely check out this cool little space in City Market and make an appointment. You’ll be happy you did!

I have been searching for a new salon since moving to KC, and I’ve finally found the place! Kayla is the best! She turned my balayage gone wrong into exactly what I wanted! I recommend her to anyone! If you’re looking for a new salon, Roots and Branches is the place!

We really miss Kayla now that we’ve moved away from KC. She does a great job and is careful not to cut too much too quickly, like many other stylists. Best of all, she has a fabulous sense of style. I even trust her with my bangs. :) She also does an amazing job cutting guys’ hair. Highly recommended!

Abby did an AMAZING job on my hair! She totally fixed my outdated ombré, and gave me the nicest balayage & cut I’ve ever received. She is also such a sweet person! Left the salon very happy with my experience :) so glad I found this place!

Kayla was great! She was very attentive and took the time to have an in depth chat with me, so she knew exactly what I wanted. Timothy was just fantastic. Saw exactly what I needed and wanted and the salon itself is very fun. I came in needing help because I have a very VERY short haircut and not a lot of people know what to do with it. Tim was on point and kind and wonderful. Lots to browse and see and a great aesthetic.

Anyone who has moved to a new city or has been in search for a new hair stylist can agree that finding one is usually a process. However, my search started and ended at this salon. The staff at the salon is so friendly. They made it a point to really take care of me while I waited, even though I only had to wait only about 2 minutes. My stylist, Kayla was extremely kind and very attentive to what I wanted. I know I am picky, but she was noting but pleasant. She is a true perfectionist. I was perfectly satisfied with the style, even then, she reviewed the cut and color again, critiqued and corrected anything she saw and made it flawless. She has a fantastic personality, which was both professional and personal. It was like visiting with a good friend. She really loves her work and it shows.
I don’t take the time to write reviews unless I have a deep impression with my experience at a store or with a service. I would and will recommend Kayla, and most likely her colleagues to anyone in search for a great cut, color and style all for a great price.
If you also care about the setting of the salon, then you will be pleasantly pleased. The building is very clean and very historic with many creative aspects of the architecture maintained. Just look online and you will be able to see what I mean. Easy parking and access.

Molly has been my stylist for quite some time. She is personally nothing short of amazing. When she told me her plans to open her own salon, I knew that it would be a success.
Since Roots and Branches has opened, I have loved the experience. Not only can you get an amazing cut, color and style but there are tons of great products as well. Roots and Branches is one of the only salons in the KC area carrying the EVO line of products. I have personally used several of the products and have been extremely happy with them.
There is also a line of candles Molly has in the salon Archipelago Botanicals is the name and these candles are some of the best you can find anywhere!
If you haven’t been to Roots and Branches, you have to check it out. Ask for Molly, I guarantee you will come back!
