Really healthy tasting Kung Pao Triple. Not fried and not loaded with sodium like SO many places. The service was good and attentive, food was damn good but the place could use a little updating.

Went here during lunch. Wait staff was attentive and gracious. Food was flavorful and plentiful for luncheon portions. The lo mein was a bit heavy on the soy, but other than that, no complaints. would go again!

We are new to the neighborhood. This has now been added to our regular rotation of restaurants. The Cashew Chicken, Beef & Broccoli, egg rolls, and crab rangoon are my favorite. The service is fantastic — friendly, attentive, and professional. I also like the traditional feel of the décor.

Red Dragon is an excellent lunch spot. The daily lunch special will get you a cup of the best hot and sour soup I’ve had in recent memory, fried rice, a side, and a choice of entrée among twenty or so options. All for about $ 8.50 including tip. I usually get the general tso’s chicken which is fairly unique in that they use dark and white meat chicken. Also, if you enjoy heat(like punishing heat if you use too much), ask for a side of their pepper sauce. They grow the peppers themselves, creating a hellish yet tasty sauce comprised of a cross between a habanero and a ghost pepper. It’s incredible in the soup, trust me.

Five stars is probably too generous if you only grade the food on its own, but when you consider the quality of the food relative to its cost and how quickly you can get it this place is five stars. The crab rangoon is heavy on the garlic but very good. The egg drop soup is the best I’ve had. Every entrée has been plentiful and pretty solid. I eat pretty big meals and the chicken fried rice was more than enough for two meals. There’s a lot of good carryout nearby and this is one of the best options.

Open late(which is RARE in Kansas City), decent and filling food(very generous servings by the way), and constant refills of the water(that tastes like NYC tap)… it’s amazing. 4 stars for good comfort food and CONVENIENCE. This place deserves a higher rating for what it’s worth. Even the interior is pretty appealing! Bottom line is you get what you pay for; so all you haters shouldn’t be so nit-picky considering these low prices.

Very nice people, the quantity was a lot, can not judge the food as I walked a mile back to hotel before eating. What u can say though, seemed«good»…not great, but good just on a flavor scale. Chicken pieces for orange chicken were huge… too big. Again, the staff seemed very kind and curtious.

I love Red Dragon. I order the hunan beef with fried rice. They have the best tasting fried rice around IMO. They’re affordable, friendly and serve you with a smile. Try them out!

I had heard this place was really good. We walked about 10 blocks to try it. If I could rate it separately the food would get 4 stars but the price would get 2. It’s tasted pretty good but for what we paid, we will probably not be going back. There were only 2 of us eating and we paid $ 30 when we were expecting to pay about $ 18-$ 20. For the price, the portion sizes were very small. Our boxes weren’t even full.

I keep going here because it’s around the corner, but honestly it always falls short of my expectations. The food is just«meh» and not even high up on my fast-food chinese experiences, let alone restaurants that try a little harder like PF Changs or Bo Lings. General Tso’s chicken is battered and fried, and all of the sauces here are too sweet, even those dishes listed as «spicy» and even when asked to make it more spicy. Eggrolls are just OK, certainly not the best in the city. I’ll probably keep going here occassionally out of convenience but don’t go out of your way by any means.

This is exactly what you want from take out Chinese. It is cheap, fast and better than most places in KC. With the growing downtown population its surprising there are not more Chinese take out restaurants but this is the best I have found for take out. Dont come expecting a great ambiance or fine dining but for what it is its great.

Once again ks/mo Unilocalers have lead me wrong. I guess being from California I’m spoiled when it comes to Chinese or any ethnic food for that matter. The place did have good service, but the food didn’t leave much to be desired. It was rather gross, bland, and tasted off.

I ordered Shrimp Lo Mein, which was just ok. It had too much oil and spices, yet taste was just normal. In addition, the service of the staff was not good. The waitress did not guide me to the seat for a while and also made me wait for at least 5 min for the order. But overall it’s durable since the price was cheap(just $ 8)

Very fresh food. The egg drop soup is gourmet quality. I ordered the garlic chicken. It was light and had bold flavor but not overpowering. I could still taste each ingredient. The staff is friendly and eager to please. The resteraunt is very clean. The prices are awesome, low. Just incredible food. I will definitely be here again. Right next door is a bakery too. Serves coffee and deserts that are handmade.

We decided to come here for dinner and I never realized there was a Chinese restaurant in downtown kansas city. We had the dinner special and after the soup I couldn’t eat anymore. We got the moo goo gai pan which was very bland, however the kung pao delight had lots of flavor. It did seem like lots of people were doing take out. Maybe they know something we don’t? Not sure if we’d come back.

I have ordered Chinese from almost every place in town, but none have delivered the service or quality I have come to expect from exceptional American Chinese restaurants– except Red Dragon. I usually rate the taste by comparing the vanilla dishes you find everywhere– Kung Pao, Hunan, etc. The sauces are pretty tasty, and I was more pleased that the cooks use dark meat as well as white meat in their chicken dishes. What really got me hooked, though, was the superior broth in their Hot & Sour soup. It’s nothing short of slurpably delicious! Don’t forget your egg roll! These egg rolls are the best egg rolls in KC!!! Though they do not deliver, it’s convenient location on 8th St and May St is perfect to cater to the Downtown neighborhoods. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants some damn good Chinese food. **Update: My friend had ordered the crispy duck. I’m assuming he liked it as he was sucking on the bones by the time I ate half my meal.

Solid American Chinese food at a very friendly price point. The ingredients are fresh and the whole experience delivers quality without overcharging for it. I seem to always end up here at least once when I am in town. I like the neighborhood and the building warehouse-like space the restaurant occupies. Sitting at a window booth looking at the brick sidewalks in winter or spring while drinking tea and speaking of absurdities continues to be a very pleasant experience for me and my friends. Keep up the good work!

This Chinese food is yummy! It’s super cheap and has great lunch specials. I’ve ordered it on my lunch break and they will bring it right to the front desk! Plus you get huge portions so you will have plenty of leftovers. I got a full to go box of chicken fried rice for like $ 6 or $ 7 for lunch. It’s like 1 – 2 lbs of rice. It’s so much but so cheap! The crab rangoon is also fresh and delicious. The downfall is they get closed all the time. There are different rumors of why so I don’t have a truth to say. It’s unfortunate but when it is open, it’s great! If you have a chance to go in or call in an order, I suggest this restaurant in downtown Kansas City.

This has become my favorite take-out place within walking distance of my apartment. It isn’t the best Chinese out there, but I will go back. I had the sesame chicken, and it was really yummy. If you are eating with someone else plan on splitting the meal. It is kinda pricey for take out Chinese, but if you split the meal it makes it pretty reasonable. My boyfriend said the egg drop soup is one of the best he has ever had. The crab rangoons were very garlicy. I’m a big garlic fan so that is a plus for me, but if you hate garlic you won’t like them. My only complaint is that they don’t offer the sesame chicken in a lunch size and that they don’t offer more than one size on the normal dinner portions.

When we were waiting in the restaurant, as I was looking around I noticed the restaurant looked old and worn. The floor was a bit run down, and this place looked like it had been here for 100 years. We waited for a couple of minutes and were seated quickly. I’m glad there was 4 of us, because they have a sign in the menu saying they won’t split the check for parties of 5 or more. The food was cheap, and overall decent. I got the Kung Pao chicken, and it wasn’t the usual over-breaded kind. It had a sweet/spicy sauce and chicken bits. It was good, and the lunch special comes with soup and an egg roll or crab rangoon. I got the egg drop soup, and a crab rangoon and both were ok. Everything was pretty good for the price. Cheap lunch, decent quality. Spent about $ 6 for my meal with water.
