Since reviewing Pizza Huts seems to be the thing to do today, I figured I’d go ahead and toss in a review of my favorite Pizza Hut location. The North Kansas City location is one of the few remaining old school Pizza Huts in the metro area, and it features the classic Pizza Hut salad bar. Because of that, this location is actually more of a regional destination than a local destination. I know of people who drive more than 20 miles(seriously!) to eat here because it’s the closest Pizza Hut to them with the old school salad bar. The highlight for me is the weekday lunch buffet, from 11 – 2. You can get very full very quickly on a variety of pizzas. However I’d avoid it from about 11:45 — 12:30 when the place is so packed with hungry workers that they can’t keep the pizzas coming out fast enough. During that time period it’s a mad dash of scavengers every time a new pizza comes out, and it’s gone in seconds. The servers here are good and keep your drinks refilled constantly. They know many of their customers by name. If the buffet doesn’t have anything you like, just tell them what you want and they’ll have it out in about 10 minutes. And if you are a carnivore like me this is probably a good idea because they do tend to put out more pizzas with random plant matter on them than they really should. If you want to avoid the construction congestion on Armour(especially at lunch and dinner time), there IS a secret back way into the parking lot that avoids ALL of the traffic. But that’s your own adventure to figure out. :)
