I’m currently wearing one of their KC shirts! My kids have shirts from here, as well, that they love wearing around and showing off to their non-KC friends(the little show-offs!). KC Pride is everywhere, right now, and this place has some really great designs they’re selling. With that sort of appetite for all things KC, providing unique designs, locally made, with an eye on quality is precisely what the good citizens of KC have come to expect. I highly recommend checking out what these folks have to offer!

One of the hardest things in the world to Buy Local(unless money’s no problem at all) is clothing. Normal Human makes it a little bit easier. You can’t do your whole wardrobe here unless you only wear t-shirts and ties, with no pants, but they have some very cool prints, most of which allow you to show your Midwestern pride. Even the shirts are made in the USA, but be forewarned, American Apparel seems to design mostly for cute little teenagers, and the sizes run REALLY small. I paid $ 28 for a shirt; not cheap, but the design and color are awesome, and it’s a well made shirt. They have other random cool stuff if you don’t need clothing-dish towels, leather-bound journals, jewelry, candles… I’ll bet it changes, so there’s always a reason to go back!

This is a great stop. They don’t have much variety but all the shirts are printed in the store. They source all their items locally. Prices are more reasonable then the bunker. The gentleman that was behind the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning to get more from Normal Human.

I loved their unique designs and the atmosphere at the store. You can see shirts being printed in the back half of the store. I got a baseball tee for about $ 30, so not a place for a bargain souvenir shirt, but a great local business with cool wares. In addition to shirts, they have leather goods, jewelry, tote bags and dish towels. Looking forward to new designs!

We are visiting from San Francisco, and happened upon the Normal Human store. The prints are really cool and the store is very welcoming. When we visited, the only person there was Dan the owner. He was easy going, and talked to us for a while about the meaning of his various prints, and where we might want to spend time while we were in Kansas City. Highly recommend a visit to this great store!

Normal Human is a cool place! Swung by today during my lunch hour to pick up a KC-centric gift. The inventory was pretty picked-over(I blame the Royals for doing so damn well) but I picked up an awesome KC shirt. The prints are done in-house and are printed on American Apparel garments. I was also interested in doing a one-off shirt, but they have 20 garment minimums. The gentleman helping me said they were super swamped, but sometimes they do offer flat cards. It would be a good thing to have that option(lots of gift-shopping-procrastinators like myself). Though the offerings are limited, the quality is high. They have womens/mens/unisex and even some pretty adorable baby onesies. There is a handful of jewelry as well. I like the brand, I like the style and KC can use more fun boutique gems like NH!

Normal Human is a nice little shop on Westport Road with pleasantly helpful staff. They sell KC shirts that looked nothing like tacky souvenir shirts. These are high-quality shirts you would want to gift people back home or keep for yourself and actually wear outside the house(we all know we just wear the tacky tourist shirts as sleep shirts). As such, the prices are not dirt cheap, but they are reasonable. I picked up a shirt for $ 28 and this is one that I know will last me for a long while. If you are looking for a tasteful KC shirt, go check out Normal Human.

If you’re at all familiar with the recent influx of KC pride t-shirts, I’d wager that you’ve seen Normal Human’s wares. They’ve been selling in boutiques around town such as The Bunker, Westside Storey and MASH Handmade. Good news! They’re going big time and have opened up their own retail space on Westport Road! The corner storefront is pretty large, and right now I’d say at least 75% of the space is dedicated to production. There are a ton of windows and thus natural light, and it’s a clean and airy space that is a pleasure to be in. The merchandise is rather limited but well curated, and a number of other local brands are represented. Off the top of my head I can recall seeing products from local businesses Owl + Mouse, Sandlot Goods and Vintage Edison. This is, of course in addition to a full line of Normal Human’s t-shirts for man, woman and child. They’re brand new, in fact I don’t think they even had a sign when I visited. As they navigate from wholesale to retail, I look forward to seeing what they come up with. I highly suggest a visit to Normal Human.
