I should probably start by saying that I am a hairstylist with over 15 years in the biz so when I choose to go to a salon and treat myself(which I rarely do) I expect the same level of service that I give to my clients. I live in Washington DC but have spent a lot of time in Kansas city this past summer. In that time I visited this salon twice. The first time was for a cut and color. Which was fine. It wasn’t great though. I wanted a clipper cut on my back and sides but the stylist insisted on scissor over comb so I ended up having my co worker redo it when for me I got home. This past visit I got a one step color and a massage. Doing hair myself I have an awful back and get massages often. This was one of the worst massages I’ve ever had. He barely worked my back, didn’t do deep tissue like I asked. His hands were super dry and felt very rough on my skin. Halfway through the massage someone changed the spa music so the therapist had to leave the room to change it back. On top of all that I could hear girls that worked there chatting the entire time. There is a separate spa area so this just seemed totally crazy and completely unprofessional to me. Also when he sprayed the chakra he did so right over my face. Who enjoys that? Then came the price tag. I work at an Aveda salon in one of the most expensive cities in the country. One of the reasons I love KC so much is everything is so much cheaper in comparison… except for this place. I don’t know where they got off charging $ 93 for a one step color! This is insane. Then charged me $ 15 for toner. Nevermind that my hair is like 4 inches long all over and all I did was ½ inch of root. Knowing the price of the product they used and what they charged me is highway robbery. Also Aveda has a certain ritual they do for their clients it includes a shoulder and neck massage, or a hand massage with a shampoo. My stylist did none of these. He did however manage to remove all of my makeup during my shampoo. I advise anyone looking for a good Aveda salon in Kansas City to look elsewhere. This place over charges and isn’t a good representation of a true Aveda experience.

I was having a color emergency(too much grey), and Jordan McTyre colored and styled my hair beautifully. The receptionist was very helpful & friendly. All of the Aveda products smelled great and gave my hair a nice shine!

It’s my understanding that this salon has recently undergone a management change and interior remodel. Having recently moved to the area(Sept 2014), I have only enjoyed this spa as it is now. That being said, I’ve had wonderfully positive experiences(opposed to negative reviews I see here on Unilocal). My experience is only limited to nail services but they always do a great job. I have a standing appointment for manicures. Emily does a careful job and is enjoyable company. The hand massages she provides are heavenly. I also love the aromatherapy. I am always greeted with a friendly face and attentiveness to detail. Would strongly recommend nail services here.

A. My cut was terrible. This lady did not listen to me. Just didn’t get it and I am pretty explicit. She had no sense of style. Was late taking me, rushed through my cut. I would never go back! And very expensive for a dry cut no less! Really terrible experience!

I have gone to Naturally here and there over the years. The rehab of the space they did last year was needed and it’s much brighter and open and a cleaner feel. I get my color done with Oscar who is a sweet guy and knows how to avoid turning my dark hair a pretty shade of kool-aid orange when lightening it – if this sounds like a low bar, don’t be fooled. Many colorists before him have fallen short and have attempted to cover their folly with a red glaze. Not Oscar. Oscar knows his stuff. His bedside manner is very polite and slightly shy but still friendly. He will charm you without talking your leg off. My cup of tea exactly. Highly recommend him for color and a trim.

I have been going here forEVer and I love it! The new remodel is beautiful, and I feel relaxed as soon as I walk through the door. Tonya cuts my hair. She gives an amazing scalp massage and no matter whether I’m sticking to the same style or trying something new, I always walk out with my hair looking gorgeous and shiny. Michael is the best, most knowledgeable, and empathetic massage therapist I have ever been to, and Kari is an amazing aesthetician.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! I rarely give a bad review. But this was a very expensive, BAD experience. My husband arranged for me to have. Caribbean Manicure $ 35 plus tip. I asked to upgrade to Shellac bc I figured it was the holidays, why not. Pros: my manicurist painted my nails beautifully! Cons: I had to sugar scrub my own hands in sink. Then after some green stuff was painted on my hands, they were wrapped in dingy white towels where holes were visible and a strand of black hair stuck to it. Then I had to get up and wash my hands again. Sat back down and a dime sized amount of lotion was divided between my two arms. It was rubbed in for about 30 seconds each arm; no massage. This was not being pampered at ALL! This was an overpriced paint job in a salon.

I had an Aveda gift certificate and this was the closest salon to my apartment. I decided to get a facial and overall I was very pleased. The salon is currently undergoing some renovations, for which they apologized profusely(and I noticed while checking out that they plan to be closed for the next two days to finish them). Kari was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about the Aveda products, was not pushy at all, and I left with my skin feeling and looking great. The hour facial was a little pricey($ 88) but I was expecting about that much due to them being an Aveda salon. I would definitely go back for other salon services, especially if I have a gift card!

As a new customer, I was not introduced to the services and may have had a better experience if I knew the options available to me. The service I received felt rushed and incomplete. The manicurist asked if I get pedicures and when I said that would be nice, she told me she was booked. It just wasn’t what I was expecting. It appears this place was really nice at one time, but there needs to be some simple maintenance to improve the service environment.

Nail Technician, Jessica Gatlin, I was in town on business and did not have time to get my nails in my city. I tried them and WOW! Awesome job awesome price. I have not had this good of a Nail Technician since Green Valley Ranch in Vegas or San Francisco nail salons. Jessica is awesome. Trust me I am a nail snob. Great job Jessica wished I lived in KC.

I sat on this review for over a month before I could bring myself to write it. It’s not pretty and neither is my hair! I went in to the salon for a cut and color. My stylist* was cool and I’m digging the color. But I was the last client of the day and the receptionist/cash register girl was in a hurry to get out. She rushed us out of there so quickly that my haircut is a mediocre mess! Not only that but I went in to get it «fixed» as I had had another botched job a month earlier. I’ve been to many Aveda salons always loving them and the products but this one seemed run down, old, out of style. It’s like someone hasn’t given a crap about it in awhile. So in short, $ 150+, 4″ cut off my hair NOT going back. * — this review is no reflection on the stylist at all — she was great. But the salon needs Tabitha and her salon takeover.

I happened to come across Naturally Salon & Day Spa while attending a conference at the Westin. I popped in to purchase a travel size hair spray and ended up booking an appointment for a cut & color(it was time — my roots were betraying me.) I ended up scheduling a 5:30pm appointment with Manuel. He was friendly, but professional(which is important — I’m just not a fan of stylists who rattle on about personal matters that so don’t concern me) and his work was good. A few likes: — Staff at the front desk was personal, helpful and responsive — I was shown immediately to the small waiting area and offered a beverage(not an adult beverage, unfortunately, but at least they made sure I wasn’t parched) — Stylist knew what he was doing and gave me a great cut! A few misses: — The waiting area and processing area leave a bit to be desired — The front of the salon(what you see from the window) is really nice — the rest– eh– just ok — The price! Holy moly. I was not expecting to fork over so much to get my hair ‘did here in KC. It looks great, so I’m not upset, but I do think it was a bit overpriced. Sawry! All in all — I’ll give the place a 4 star but only because I happened to look in the mirror a minute ago and completely forgot that I’m not a natural blond. For that alone, Manuel and the folks at Naturally deserve my appreciation.

I wish I could be more specific about their service, but seeing as I visited this store multiple times over a 2 day period and was unable to get the attention of an actual salesperson ever, I clearly cannot. it certainly wasn’t for lack of standing right in front of and trying to speak with 3, count them three, salespeople loitering behind the counter. perhaps they were distracted by the other large group of beauticians/estheticians congregated in the other corner of the store, also totally disinterested in customer service. at one point I considered taking advantage of my apparent invisibility and making off with the cash register. sadly, my pores remain clogged. my cuticles still maimed. and my hair product needs unfulfilled. perhaps aveda should reconsider associating with this particular shop.

OK… this is a review based on my experience with Kate. She did my up-do for the wedding and it looked beautiful! During the initial consultation(which was free) she explained what she thought she could do and was right on about how best to work with my hair. I was very impressed!

My Lady called me and said she had to have her nails done. She was in conference, and I was cruising the mall. I hadn’t noticed any nail care places, but just as she was telling me the name was Naturally, I happened upon it on the second floor just next to the door to «The Link,» a covered walkway that connected buildings in the neighborhood. There was a chalkboard outside the store, with a current listing of the open reservations for nail care, so I told My Lady the situation. She made a phone call, and booked a reservation the same day. There was a discount coupon in the hotel promotion book for Aveda products at Naturally, which happened to be almost the entire line. Unfortunately, I only realized this after My Lady had returned. They also had an OPI display next to the counter. It cost $ 15 have her fingernails restored to their usual ravishing beauty.

My husband bought me a gift certificate to Naturally. I tried several«next day» bookings and couldn’t get in. This was a good sign, it meant the place was busy. I finally booked a full week in advance and since I didn’t have a massage therapist in mind… I was booked with Michael Schuver. When we met, I immediately felt comfortable with him and he was totally professional. His ability to get through my stress and pain was remarkable and before I left, I booked 4 more sessions with him.(4 for the price of 3 if you pay in advance). From the phone etiquette when booking the appointment to the front desk people, to the massage… the experience was relaxing and I was very pleased. The waiting area is «busy» and not so relaxing, but the space in Crown Center is limited and every space is used. Since I had booked an appointment, the wait time was very minimal and I was moved right into a quiet room with soft music. When in doubt, request Michael Schuver as your massage therapist.

I wish I could give them a ½ star. I started getting massages here, then my regular girl left and I started using a new therapist. She was great until I noticed how her hands would stop moving. The last straw was when she was massaging my feet and just stopped. I looked down and she was asleep on the stool. Are you freaking serious? I stopped going here because of the service, but also because of the shoddy waiting area that was about as relaxing as a bus depot. I have a huge issue with all of these salons calling themselves«spas.» That word should be regulated. When I tell you I have been to every«spa» in KC, I am not exaggerating. This town sucks for spa services. I guess if I never traveled and experienced a real spa, then I wouldn’t have such high expectations. However, I am not even sure my experiences are the problem. I believe that people in Kansas City have become accustom to low quality«spas» and these so called«spas» are not going to attempt to exceed anyone’s expectations when they know the bar is set low.
