Pretty much whenever you come in there is something to find here. Breakfast sandwich is way above average. On top of that they have a big salad bar for lunch, especially for a market this size. Then to top it off, it’s a simple place to come in for a beer after work without all of the pomp and circumstance you get elsewhere in the city. I’m a fan. I’ll be back.

Market 3 is handy, I’ll give it that. I have definitely popped in for a container of Ben and Jerry’s or a bottle of wine or some deli meat. One time I was out to lunch in the River market with a friend and he needed eye drops. Bam. Market 3. You are so handy! It’s not a big space so they don’t carry a wide variety of stuff. And it’s also around convenience store prices, so you are paying more. I also get the impression this place isn’t too busy so I rarely see any expensive, not shelf stable items(like fruit and fresh vegetables). But they do have a salad bar. And a deli counter. And they sell hot food. And coffee(and espresso!). It’s a difficult thing this place tries to be. I wish they carried a bit more variety and I wish they did carry fresh produce. But every time I come in, I forget why I don’t come in more for breakfast and lunch. I’ll have to remedy that soon.

My little market is awesome. It has everything that you need walking distance if you live in River Market. They also have food served and it’s really good.

Great neighborhood market that truly invests in the neighborhood it benefits from. My family has enjoyed the food and treats here for the past few years as well as the convenience of a general store just a few blocks from home. My husband was hospitalized following a massive stroke for two months and market 3 was one of the first places he wanted to go when he got out. Jim and his staff have always been great but on this day, they were perfect. My husband is a regular and only 42 so it was a shock to see this had happened. Jim expressed concern, made us feel welcome/at home and has always made sure the store is easily wheelchair accessible. They have even offered to assist if he was unable to get his chair out in bad weather. My husband told me when we met that living in this area is a bit like living on Sesame Street. I agree and continue to appreciate this bunch as they chase the clouds away with good conversation and favorites such as lobster bisque, Tom Turkeys, and my fave the«q»!

You only have to enter this business once to figure out it looks like it hasn’t been thought out very well – or at all. It’s a mess, it’s disorganized, it’s cluttered and dirty in spots. Is it a convenience store, salad bar, deli, liquor store, or…? But lets back up a bit because I don’t have an ax to grind with them. This area of town in the evening is pretty much a ghost town for household items. Bars and dining? Yes, aplenty within a few blocks. A place to grab a bottle of soda, some toothpaste, kleenex, bar of soap, a six pack? Forget it. You’d only have to look around and see how many people are living in lofts and apartments within a 3 – 4 block radius to see how badly something in this area is needed. And these living quarters are not cheap. People living here have some serious coin and just watch, this area is going to sky-rocket in pricing with the perceived hipness of having… wait for it… trolley tracks going through. Already happening. So why Market 3 looks like it belongs in downtown De Soto, KS or Bates City, MO I don’t get. There’s opportunity here and they’re not taking advantage of it. Someone is going to eventually. It’ll either be Market 3 or they’ll be watching all of their customers taking their business to the first place that provides these needs and has their act together. By the way, I had a great sandwich here the other night. Just what I wanted. Quick, simple, tasty and no fuss or pretense. There’s potential here but it’s not close to being reached. I don’t get it, but I can’t go down to two stars. Place just confuses me.

DONOTGOHERE! The owner, Steve, is a bully tyrant and REFUSED to move his truck from behind my car in his lot. I used to go here frequently, but I will not contribute to giving more business to this man!!! I posted a picture on here too so you can see.

The staff is friendly and I like that they have a nice variety of things I usually run out of or otherwise need in a small quantity. I live right around the corner and have eaten a lot of delicious omelets here. Things that could use improvements: the salad bar is always messy and the greens look wilted often. Food is all over the place regardless of what time I come in. Geez, take some pride and clean up the bar! After being open for business for an hour today(I arrived at 8am), needing to grab a quick bite for lunch later, the salad bar was just then being restocked. Just more food being pushed into the old. Later I found a hair that was embedded in the greens, I literally had to spit the whole thing out of my mouth to get the hair that was wrapped around it – YUK! The floors are usually pretty dirty. Because it’s right in my neck of the woods and conveniently located to my gym, I try to focus on something else when I need a quick breakfast(that is always very well prepared)! Like the perfectly strong coffee. Clean up the bathroom, the floors, and the coffee bar(and watch the hair) and the overall market and it would truly be a 5-star place!

This place is great! It’s your local diner/deli and neighborhood market all rolled into one. Lot of fresh ingredients on the menu and local products on the shelf to show their Kansas City pride! Fast friendly service, a loaded salad bar, daily lunch specials, daily soups from scratch and fresh pastries baked in-house. The Southwestern Chicken Wrap has become my favorite go to! They have some great vegan choices too(if you’re into that sort of thing… I don’t judge) the grilled portabello sandwich is fantastic! And, uhhh… Supreme Pizza Soup… yes soup! YUM!

This place makes a really good breakfast sandwich. They have other food too, if you are into that sort of thing.

Decent food but pretty expensive for what you get, especially the grocery side. They typically close at 7pm during the week but close their deli around 5pm(at least every time I’ve gone in or called). Definitely not a fan of that — seems a bit inconvenient for a convenience store. However, the location is good for anyone who lives in the area.

Market 3, I had a decidedly bad first impression with this place. That would normally be more than enough to keep me out of a place in our fair city, however, the awesomely convenient location of Market 3 brought me back again, and again. Its awesome for picking up those things you always need but never have. I frequently find myself in situations where a single can of chicken broth, or tomatoes is all that stands between me in a nice, healthy, home cooked meal. Were it not for Market 3, this scenario would end in me being too lazy to drive to a grocery store, and instead ordering a pizza and shoving the entire thing into my fat face. night ruined. But this is only half the Market 3 story. I come home for lunch almost everyday, and times when i don’t have groceries, i frequently stop at Market 3 for the best salad bar I’ve found in KC. Now, when you walk in the door and see the salad bar you’re going to think that I must not have seen very many salad bars in my life. Its not the biggest or most varied but a closer look shows that everything is extremely fresh, and delicious. Most salad bars in my experience have at least 1 or 2, «well I’m not eating any of that.» moments in them. Market 3 is the exception to this. They have all the standard ingredients including real bacon, that they cook, and about a dozen different dressings. The homemade soups make great accompaniment to your fresh salad and are also delicious. I haven’t had too many of the sandwiches but they always look and sound great. however, they are all a little pricey, and if there is a line, you may be waiting. one of the few low points of the establishment. All around though, I love Market 3. They will surely be a River Market establishment for years and seem to have a drive to improve continuously. So, I am sure that they will only get better.

Market 3 has some excellent sandwiches. Creative and interesting combinations for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. They also have a great salad bar. My big objection is price. The sandwiches are pricy and everything is a la carte, so it’s easy to drop a lot to get a full lunch. Maybe they could consider either upping the sandwich size or throwing in a bag of chips. Then I’d be a big fan.

Having just moved from the Crossroads to the River Market over the summer, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how many things just make me do a little happy dance. I’ve been around the neighborhood for years, but now that I truly live here, I see why people stay. Market 3, while it has its occasional growing pains, is one of the places that just makes me pause, take a deep breath, and smile while I happily jump around because I live here. It’s so convenient, so charming, and such an addition. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and the few sandwiches I’ve had were yummy. Bonus: They serve The Roasterie coffee for less than $ 2 for a 12oz cup. I’m not knocking on Quay or the Coffeehouse by any means — this is just an alternative to spending the $ 5 on a specialty drink. It’s tasty, just as local, but at half the price. Plus they have a cute little milk jug of cream kept on hand. Guilty pleasures! Now, I know that the prices will be generally higher based on the convenience factor and that they’re a smaller shop. But some of their prices are a liiiiittle bit too high for me to be 100% satisfied. Example: the other day I had two choices for a dozen eggs(which — again — is pretty super for a convenience store! But…). The generic brand, $ 2.49(which is about double what I’d spend at Cosentino’s); the local, organic, etc., etc., dozen(which I prefer to buy if practical), $ 4.29. Yikes! It was easy to see why there were several dozen of the local left and I took the last of the generics. Overall I adore the fact that Market 3 is HERE! I have already been saved several trips to the grocery store, and will be back for some lunchtime reading very soon. TL;DR: You’re paying for convenience, but it comes wrapped in a great neighborhood store.

The virtues of this place-the groceries, the staff, the quality of the food-have been well described by previous reviewers. The«shopping list» is a fun read right up there with City Diner’s wall. So here’s my 2 cents: Why I’m glad I stopped by: Lobster Bisque-rich, thick, seafoody goodness Market 3 Mediterranean Wrap-chicken and really fresh veggies, huge $ 55-ingredient omelet-I dare you to find one of THOSE anyplace else! Why I want to go back: Shrimp po’ boy special Southwest chicken wrap Tomato basil soup Good Lord, one more reason I can’t stay out of the River Market!

My zeus have I been waiting for what seems like an eternity for this place to open! After what seemed to be the softest opening of all time, they finally seem to be at full operations and I am pleased to announce that the results are fantastic. I cannot adequately express how happy I am to FINALLY be able to walk down the street to get a carton of milk or a dozen eggs. Their selection isn’t fantastic, but it’s getting better every single day. They are eager to take suggestions on what to sell, and seem incredibly community focused. Realistically, it’s a convenience store and as such there’s not a ton worthy of a huge review. But it seems to be the first of it’s kind in all of the urban core, and filling that void alone is worth 4 stars. A couple tips: — the sandwiches are seriously good! The pork loin is ridiculously juicy. –um, i can’t think of any more tips, so that’s all you get. Welcome to the neighborhood Market 3. I was actually considering moving from River Market to Crossroads, but your very existance has made the decision MUCH more difficult.
