This place was just amazing. A total hole in wall, off the beat path(yet very convenient to Royals/Chiefs games) with some of the richest, most flavorful BBQ you can dream up. The restaurant itself is a little unnerving. Looks like a foreclosed liquor store from the outside and once inside you will see the smoker within 3 feet of the counter. If that wasn’t enough, they hose down the smoker to create steam(and lots of flames) to keep those ribs nice and moist. Its actually pretty crazy. LC himself sat at a table surrounded by paperwork and office supplies, which was a nice touch. The food was crazy good. A fattier, richer flavor than other BBQ places we tried in KC. Simply amazing with or without sauce. I had the ribs — just ridiculous. Lastly, they had«beer» priced at something like $ 3 — with no difference between Bud Lite and Boulevard! Our favorite BBQ place in Kansas City.

Loved it! The beef and the pork burnt ends were great! Onion rings were made right there. Wish they were Vidalias, but still, they were ok. Loved the poppers.

I was so hopeful. I consider burnt ends to be a litmus test for KCBBQ places and these were so fatty and gristly as to be inedible. We returned them and asked for turkey sandwiches which turned out to be, in my opinion, dry. We paid for two sides of fries and only received one, despite pointing this out and asking politely for our second order. The employee working the register acted as if she was royally pained to even be alive that day. I requested a refund for the missing fries at the end of the meal and the woman who processed that was pleasant and apologetic. Three people, almost $ 55 for a dismally disappointing meal. What a shame.

THISISWHATALLTHEREPUTATIONISABOUT! Fantastic ribs, brisket and sides. Awesome homey atmosphere. I’ve been to KC a few times and ate various disappointing bar-b-q. Finally found LC’s was worthy of all the KC bar-b-q hype.

This shack sits on a country road that you just want a navigation system in your vehicle to locate. We walked in on a Friday afternoon to discover the owner, LC sitting at a table in the dining area cleaning a carton of shrimp. This table also served as his perminat work desk with all his statements and other administrative tools on the table. Look to your right and you’ll notice an autographed picture of Aerosmith with the caption«Best BBQ we ever had». It is true people, It Is the very best. We seen the other well-known barbq joints in KC, and while they were all good, even excellent, this one has that down home essence an smoky tenderness that coats your spirit. The pieces are enormous and costs low and I couldn’t consider that require Amex. Check it out when you’re in KC

What a strange place. I’d love to rate them at 4 or 5 stars, but the consistency isn’t there. Go to Q39 or any of the Joe’s KC locations and the quality is superb every time. At LC’s, sometimes it’s fantastic. Other times it’s below average. LC could help himself by hiring better. The cashier, different every time, but always rude. Last time I was there with a group, the cashier actually stole a pair of sunglasses and wouldn’t return them until confronted and convinced they were prescription and of no use the him. In a word, LC’s is overrated.

Came in today for the first time and had a slab. I can now die a happy man. Loved the old school menu board and the no-nonsense set up. I only get to KC on occasion for work, but this place is on my go-to list from now on. It’s the real deal.

Delicious and reasonably price! I am in love with their burnt ends and ribs. My ribs were juicy and had a nice char on them and the burnt ends were so tender. The meats are fattier than other BBQ joints but that’s my favorite part, mmmmhm! I had the two meat combo and got a heaping amount for about $ 23. I ate their BBQ for 4 meals, that’s how heaping it was. I also ordered the okra but it didn’t have much seasoning and just a lot of breading, will skip on that next time.

After spending 68 bucks and getting home to my family to feed them, I damn neard cried because the food quality was horrific, 1lb beef cut the wrong way, and fatty and tough it was uneatable, brunt end so bad and also fatty uneatable, slab so over cook the short end bones crumble and the meat dry and tough to chew, the fries so hard my kids put them in the trash, the eat peanut butter and jelly instead of there favorite food that brought tears to my eyes, which is why I am writing this letter, it hurts to see your children disappointed, when it was unnecessary. To your credit the beans and slaw and okra was good.

Among the best BBQ in KC. Only for true BBQ fans. You WILL smell like smoke when you leave this place. Very old school and no nonsense! I like the combo sandwich with beef and turkey. The sauce is similar to Gate’s but sweeter a little.

Wow, really could’ve done without this place. The ribs were SO overcooked it was unreal. Thick coating of char, dried out meat, they sauced it before giving it to me to try and cover it up. To make matters worse, I ended up with 6 end pieces in a single slab. Only way I could eat more carbon in a sitting is to eat a charcoal briquette. The beans were so bad I did not finish them. There was an offduty cop in there in uniform working as a guard, so they must get robbed otherwise. Other than that typical Q place inside.

So when you pull up its not much to lol at but I tell you the food is amazing. Had the short pork ribs. Amazing. Was in town on business from DC and had heard of how great this place was. It didn’t disappoint. I almost made a mess of my nice business clothes eating so fast. Would come again. Owner was so nice and friendly.

As I begin this review, I want to note that LC’s was pretty much the visual cue to turn left on Coal Miner’s Road when taking the back way into Kauffman Stadium for a Royals game. In my 13+ years of being a Kansas Citian, one who thinks he knows a thing or two about the city, I never stopped to try the food. * face palm * Color me embarrassed. I finally tried it and LC’s is some of the best BBQ in the city. The burnt ends have become my favorite in town… huge chunks that you can make into a sandwich or dip on their own into a cup of sauce. The ribs are pretty good too. I haven’t gotten too deep into the sides menu, but I will hands down vouch for the jalapeño poppers. They bite, but it’s a good bite. Trust me.

Best BBQ in KC. Nuff said. Sauce is the best I’ve had. Sweet and very KC. Ribs fall off the bone and are perfectly smoked. Fries are insane. All slices meats are perfectly smoked. Burnt ends likely what brings people here the most.

Maybe I don’t understand Kansas City BBQ but I have had a lot of BBQ. It smelled great when we walked in and it looked like it was going to be great. We ordered the mix meats plate and a order of burnt ends. The mixed plate had ribs, ham and brisket. The ribs didn’t real fall off the bone and the sauce wasn’t as full as I expected. The brisket was nice and the ham met my expectations. The burnt ends plate I was really looking forward to but it disappointed me. The burnt ends weren’t even burnt. We got a plate of ends but they weren’t overly cooked like I had pictured.

I’ve been wanting to try LC’s for a long time. I’d had it as a kid but haven’t tried it in my adult life. We came in on a Tuesday around 6pm, the place wasn’t busy at all. We were the only customers in the restaurant. We also spotted LC having his dinner while hanging out with some family members. My boyfriend and I just straight up order a slab of ribs(sauce on the side) at every BBQ place we go to. We got a couple of sides here too, jalapeño poppers and beans. We waited for about 5 minutes while they fried up our poppers, then took our order to go. This food smelled soooooo good, so of course we took a couple nibbles in the car. The ribs were awesome! I loved them. Tender, smoky, seasoned, and delicious. I feel like the LC’s sauce compliments the meat pretty well! The beans were very good! And the jalapeño poppers, well they were pretty much the same ones you can get at your neighborhood Walmart. Next time I’d like to give their fries a try! Overall, the food was very, very good! I now have a new BBQ joint in my rotation of places I frequent! Can I get a whoop whoop for meat?!

I think LC’s has made it to the top of my list for BBQ. Old school, smoked on site, delicious goodness. Their brisket and turkey were super tender. The ribs had a lot of flavor and the burnt ends were incredible. I give them props for the great service in such a busy place also. You have to speak up, but they definitely listen and respect you a lot. The team that works there is great and you can tell they have a lot of respect for each other. Definitely worth the trip and the wait. You can call in also, but make sure they don’t lose your order.
