So so BBQ. Nothing spectacular. Was expecting a more original and authentic flavor from a KCBBQ joint. If you are close by and need something in a pinch, go for it. However, if you want the best. Make the trip to Joe’s.

I went in the yesterday’s lunch. American meat is delicious!!!‼‼The barbecue sauce is good, too.I like lean meat. As for the person liking fatty meat, a pork is recommended than a beef!!! Too soft!!!

Believe the(near 1K) reviews — great service and delicious BBQ. Huge space, huge menu. Top picks: –Burnt ends(beef) –Grilled shrimp(served in a small skillet, doused in an oily garlicy sauce) –Beef rib –The side toast(comes with items) is a carby dream; tastes like a perfectly grilled brioche toast The sides are tasty(on par with what you’d expect). Busy spot, but great ‘que.

Oh my goodness. NOTE: I am not a local. I imagine some locals have some other spot they claim is the best in regard to Kansas City BBQ. But this place(and the service) was on point. We went on a busy Friday afternoon and the wait still wasn’t too bad. The waiter gave us solid recommendations and we stuck with what he said. He did not steer us wrong. I had the burnt tips sandwich with slaw on it. And a side of the baked beans and cheesy corn bake. We polished it off with a Boulevard wheat beer. The only thing that wasn’t dazzling(and I’ll get some flack for this) was the corn bake. Apparently you have to order the cheesy corn bake and I don’t know… maybe mine wasn’t baked enough? It was still good. But it was very runny. I’d even skip that next time and stick with beans and coleslaw. Ask for a sampling of all their sauces to try with your meal.

I have been told so many times that I need to go to Jack Stack for good barbecue. I finally went with some friends. I thought the food was good. The service was great for the first half the meal, but nearly dropped off completely after that. I enjoyed the food and would recommend it to a friend. I am not sold on the idea that this is the best bbq around, but it is certainly a good option.

Nice sit down restaurant for BBQ. It’s fairly large, but there also was a bit of a line at dinner time. They also have a bar area that is first come first serve. I tried the Jack’s Best platter which lets you sample their 3 most famous items. All BBQ items come with coleslaw and fries, but if you ask you can swap them with other sides. I got their famous cheesy corn and baked beans. AMAZING * Crown Prime Beef Rib — A single rib is huge(around the size of a half a rack of pork ribs). It’s also the most succulent, tender, melting of the bone, fatty, juicy rib I’ve ever had. It’s so fatty, I wouldn’t recommend ordering more than one for a single person. Get some sides or other meat to balance the delicious fattiness or you might die of a heart attack. But don’t leave without trying it! GOOD * Baby Back Pork Ribs — Dry smoked pork ribs with some BBQ sauce on them. Good smokey flavor, but parts some parts were very dry. * Cheesy corn — Corn in cheesy sauce. Tasty. OK * Burnt Ends — Wasn’t particularly impressed, had some fat, but not that much crispy crunchy parts. Generally tasted tough and dry.

My first Kansas bbq experience! Good but not as good as Texas bbq. We arrived to the restaurant at 6:30 on a Friday evening and there was already a wait. It was an hour wait for part of 8. So it would be a good idea to make reservations if you know you eat going to eat here. Since there was a lot of us, we tried a little bit of everything. Food was fairly priced. $ 29 for 4 various ribs. Two pieces of short ribs, lamb ribs Kansas ribs and 1 piece of prime beef rib(my favorite) with 1 side item. You can pick 4 choice of meat for $ 29 with 2 sides. Their beans were to die for! I didn’t care for their cheesy corn. It was too runny and made me feel like I was eating a blob of velveta.

I love BBQ and have family around the KC area. So every time I am in town this is a must stop place. Jack Stack has grown incredibly in the 15 years I have been going but the quality has not suffered. whatever guidelines they use are definitely in tack. This is the first place I ever had burnt ends and I have been spoiled ever since. The flavor of the burnt ends is so deep and makes for an incredible taste treat. The baked beans are not to missed either — the waitress took the time to explain the process used to make them and they did not disappoint. I was encouraged to try the lamb ribs on one of my visits and they are incredibly good as well. For dessert the bread pudding is a should not miss. There is so much great BBQ of all kinds and flavors and styles but I would put Jack Stack among the best and at this location it is a true dining experience as well. I love this BBQ so much that I had to order from the ship to order website when I got back home. I must say they do an amazing job with this — I can only imagine the volume shipping business they do but you would not know it as my orders have always come packed perfectly and on time. So I have ordered for some of my family in California as well so they could enjoy the same great food as I have. They have not disappointed. I would say the cost is a little high and may be a turnoff to some but the quality is there.

Visiting from Orange County California. So obviously on the hunt for good bbq. The environment here is very friendly and relaxed. With that. Oh my goodness the food here is absolutely incredible. The carrot cake is an ABSOLUTEMUST! As is the cheesy corn, the beans, and the ribs. We got the sampler(which is great for wanting to taste more then 1 entrée) we also got the burnt ends. Have to say the ribs that were included in the sampler were by far my favorite of all the meets. Aaron was our server, he was very informative about the menu, super quick to refill our glasses(without needing to be asked), and overall made this experience at Jack Stacks better. Thanks Aaron! So so so glad we got the carrot cake, holy moly that thing is like a slice of heaven. If it wasn’t clear above, get the carrot cake. And the ribs.

While in KC we naturally had to nom on some BBQ. This place had great reviews and was a short walk from our hotel. On New Years Day it was a popular place for lunch. We were quoted 40 minutes and seated by 20. The atmosphere and restaurant décor was beautiful with high ceilings, dark walls and low lighting, and the most beautiful iron and lantern chandeliers that made me reminisce of Harry Potter. Our server was ok but not super pleasant or attentive. Gluten Free options are pretty good here as they give you a guide of what to avoid and pretty much everything else on the menu is game, including all their BBQ sauces. I ordered the Caesar salad, the lunch combo with beef burnt ends and pork spare ribs and substituted a baked potato for the fries which might contain da glutzen. The boyfriend had the same salad and the burnt end lunch with ham and beef. Overall the quality of the food was pretty good. The lemonade was delicious and has refills. I tried both the white peach, which was amazing, and blackberry. Really recommend trying this if you like lemonade. Neither of us were very impressed with the BBQ sauce, maybe some of their others are better but we weren’t given options. My burnt ends and ribs were perfectly prepared and you could pull the meat from the bone with a fork. The boy thought his was so so. My salad was good and a huge portion, literally dinner size. I did have an issue that I found a few croûton pieces in my salad. My allergy is sensitive enough that contamination can make me pretty sick. The manager was very nice though and stopped by our table on his own accord and removed both salads from our tab and assured me the entrees would be prepared in a gf safe space in the kitchen. Luckily I managed to catch it before eating any salad near the bits and was not ill after. Overall price is pretty affordable, about 15−20/ person for lunch. Atmosphere is great and portions are large. Food was pretty good and I’d definitely be down to try some other things on the menu to see if I liked them better.

Majorly awesome bbq joint. This place is for real on the bbq. We went for lunch on one of our last meals in KC. I had the lunch sized crown prime lunch plate. Yum. Delicious. Lots and lots of meat. The cheesy corn is also so very good, but there are even bits of bacon or something in there with the corn! We had great service, too. Burnt ends are super good, too. Not much to dislike about the place. They’re even spot on in the pricing. A highlight of our KC trip. Plenty of free parking. Two tips. You can make a reservation on , but they’ll also accommodate you when you get there. They give you a little black box that goes off when your table is ready.

Finally got to try this place on my last trip to KC. The Freight House location is very nice inside, and is decorated very nice for Christmas. Their beans are famous and they were really good. I wanted ribs and burnt ends, and they do have the combo platter so I got them both. The ribs are big and meaty, so you know you’re not getting some puny ribs. The beef burnt ends were cooked perfectly and went well with their spicy bbq sauce, which I had to bring 2 bottles back with me

Tons of friends told me that I had to go to Jack Stack for Kansas BBQ. Tried two days in a row to get a reservations, and I was told both times that all reservations were given away. We decided to go there with a party of 8 and walked straight in to our tables. HUH?! Food here is good, but perhaps a bit over rated. I ordered the Jack’s Stack, which was pork short ribs, burnt ends, and a beef rib. The food was actually very good. I’m not a fan of well cooked meat, but the burnt ends were just as delicious as everyone said it was. I also was a fan of the beef rib — which was like a prime rib bone. The pork ribs were meh. Served with two kinds of sauces — original and spicy. For dessert, we ordered 4 different types — Crème Brulee, Croissant Bread Pudding, Chocolate cake, and one other one. I have to admit that all four desserts failed on every count. Not a fan of any of them. They were either wrong in texture, consistency, and taste. The other 7 at the table agreed. I love food. I love fatty foods. However, the food here was a bit tooooo fatty for me. After taking a few bites of the meat, I got overwhelmed with the fat associated with the meats. I know that fat makes the meat taste better, but too much of a good thing isn’t good. Food Grade: C+ Service Grade: B+ Worth the Money Grade: C Overall Impression Grade: C

Easily the best BBQ I had on my KC trip. I stopped by for lunch and ordered the Two Meat BBQ Combo($ 13.99), picking burnt ends and lamb ribs. Kudos to the friendly server for totally selling me on the latter; whereas burnt ends were an obvious pick from the start. You actually get two types of burnt ends if picking that meat(choices of beef, pork, ham, or sausage), so I basically got three meats on this visit. While the lunch special’s default(large) side is fries, you can get two smaller sides instead, so I got orders of cole slaw and BBQ beans. The combo also comes with toast. The lamb ribs easily fell off the bone. The beef and pork burnt ends were very juicy and flavorful. Both sides were outstanding. I sampled both their house BBQ(traditional sweet KC) sauce and their spicier BBQ sauce. Of course, I fully enjoyed the spicy version, but the original is also amazing. It’s a fancy interior, but the panda showed up in casual attire. Jack Stack is an absolute must-try when in KC.

So good, I can’t even describe it. I was visiting here from out of town, and because of all the hooplah surrounding KCBBQ, I had to try this place. And not only try it, but go feet first and full bore(or full hog, if that’s how you roll). Which means I went for the Crown Rib. Hey, if you’re doing KC bbq, you do it right, right? Well, let me tell you, as they brought me my bountiful plate of bountiful goodness, I noticed something forever changed my life: THEYGAVEMEANEXTRACROWNRIB! (Side note: For those of you who don’t know what a Crown Rib is, it’s basically a giant beef rib from the ribeye roast. If you even wondered what smoked rib roast taste like, this is your best bet. Also, it’s melt-in-your-mouth, party-in-your-mouth, poetry-in-your-mouth, love-in-your-mouth, joy-in-your-mouth, everything-that’s-good-in-this-world-in-your-mouth goodness. tl; dr = it’s good!) Yes, suck it, everyone. I got an extra crown rib for free. That’s, like, your boss giving you an extra pay check just because. Or buying a new car and getting another one to take home. Or finding out that your wife is pregnant with twins. Or asking your new«sweetie» for a kiss and having her /him say, «Just one kiss? Wouldn’t you like more?» Yeah. It’s THAT good. (One last thing: the rest of JS was great too. I think a real mark of fantastic BBQ is the sides. If the sides are just as good as the meat, I assume the place isn’t cutting corners.) *Finishes review and checks the calendar for the next time he’s in KC. Also, makes a mental note to never check the nutritional content of a JS Crown Rib, because he’s certain he still hasn’t burned off those calories…*

This is a great place to take the family for sit down dinner. It’s spacious, inviting and has top notch staff. Plus the location in downtown KC is hard to beat. A group of four of us enjoyed lunch on a Sunday. Service was super fast — our entrees were out within 10 minutes of us sitting down. Seriously. Fide-wise, no complaints. My rib tips were tasty. I preferred dipping them in some of the house BBQ sauce. I also sampled a glass of local rye whiskey for a post-meal digestif. Even though our experience was good overall, I just prefer your mom-and-pop hole-in-the wall BBQ joints. Jack Stack is a little too formal for me, at least if I’m planning on a meat sweats inducing meal.

The baby back ribs came hella short, BUT the Burnt Ends!!! MYGOODNESS! An order that that can definitely move mountains my friend. It’ll literally pluck mount McKinley off its roots and relocate it somewhere else. I heard they’re starting to chain out. Two branches, one is here obviously and one somewhere else in Kansas City. It’s a really neat restaurant, it had the posh atmosphere with the reasonably priced dishes. The dining area is massive, decorated with open concept with the contemporary harvest style setting. A little dimly lit, and this is so that your taste buds become more cunning. I did the dish with two meats on it, one was the baby back and the other was the burnt ends. Their baby back ribs were ok, i can snoot on it because I make some darn good ribs my self. Their power hitter here is their burnt ends. Once you’ve consumed a piece of this good stuff. It’ll make you forget how lackluster the ribs are and you’ve all of a sudden magically transported to Barbeque heaven. This is the the part where heaven opens up and angels with trumpets start to play music. Forget about the beer selection or the side dishes, all you need to know is that their Bunt Ends are ridiculously destructive. I swear by it, there is none higher. If you’re not convinced, place an order. Before I sign off, service at the bar is amazing.(«,) Life is good, barbecue is even better. Pork is the higher meat! Another strong KCBBQ restaurant. I was only in KC for a couple of days, but my buddy and I hit up the original Joe’s and Jack Stack. I was very pleased with both choices. We arrived at Jack Stack on a Saturday at around 1:00 pm. I was hoping a later arrival would mean less of a wait, but I was sadly mistaken. When you are one of the most popular BBQ joints in a BBQ town, I don’t think there is a good time to go. We were quoted a wait time of 45 – 60 minutes. They have a buzzer system here, which was nice. There is seating in the lobby, outside on the patio, and a bar(with a decent, but not huge, beer selection). So, we had plenty of places to go. The restaurant itself is very nice, it’s clear Jack Stack’s success allowed them to spend some money making a very comfortable and modern outpost of the original joint. We were buzzed right at 35 minutes, which was great. A restaurant should always over-estimate wait times. We were seated and immediately approached by a server for our drink order. We decided to go for the 6 onion ring appetizer for 4 of us. These rings are large, they are seasoned well and the breading is nice and crunchy. The breading didn’t stay adhered to the ring super well, I had to finish mine with a fork. But, they were fantastic, I would absolutely order these again. For lunch, I went with The Sampler: a combo meal that includes BBQ chicken, pork spare ribs, your choice of burnt ends(I went with beef, of course) and 2 sides. For my sides, I went with beans and cheesy corn bake. It’s not cheap at $ 24, but for the quality and quantity of food I think it’s a great deal. It’s enough food that 2 people could share it, but I don’t know why you’d want to share. The meals came out quickly, probably less than 15 minutes after we’d ordered. As I said, it’s a large plate of food(see photo). The burnt ends were textbook, they had that crispiness to them, but still retained a little juiciness. Very flavorful. The ribs were a little disappointing to me. I think that’s because I prefer baby backs to spare ribs. This isn’t to say I didn’t like them, I did. But, given JS’s reputation, I was expecting to like them more. The chicken was fantastic. Tender, juicy, and smoky. It’s slathered in sauce, so be advised that you may get a little messy. Definitely need a knife and fork. Both of the sides were world class. The beans were some of, if not the best, baked beans I’ve ever eaten. Great balance between sweet and spicy with some meat thrown in for flavor. Cooked perfectly, they weren’t too mushy but everything(sauce, meat, beans) just kind of melted together. They were incredible. The cheesy corn bake is basically mac n cheese with corn instead of pasta. The sauce is very flavorful, no lack of cheese here. It was also hot and bubbly when it arrived, which was great. Simple dish, but very tasty. I also had a couple of bites of the Big Pig: a sandwich with shaved ham, pork, bacon, provolone, mustard BBQ sauce, and an onion ring. This thing is a behemoth, the guy that ordered it at our table wasn’t able to finish it, and that’s with him giving out a couple of pieces. It was very flavorful and even though it was large, it stayed together well. I would absolutely order this sandwich, and as much as I enjoyed my lunch, I was having some buyer’s remorse that I didn’t get the Big Pig. Jack Stack was fantastic, it was well worth the wait. I’ll return on future visits to KC.

Yep. Excellent. 6 jours à Overland Park, 5 diners à Jack Stak BBQ. The place to eat.
