Great Hunan recipes. Even better, they have modified their recipe for my Mom — less spicy than normal«hunan» and no MSG. First Asian place which offered to forgo both MSG and offer a «less spicy hunan» on request. Our favorite local Chinese takeout.

I have been searching for a good egg foo young since I moved here 2 years ago. This is it. Fried rice, very good. All in all great food great service. Just one complaint. I am a disabled Iraq Veteran that travels with my service dog. I went to pick up my 2 nd order of there good food, this time took my dog in with me. Owner is not well educated on service dogs. Asked that I remove it, No Dogs allowed. I explained that it was a service dog, not a dog. Tried to educate but there is a language barrier. Dont get me wrong, food is great. The only reason they are getting 3 stars and not 5 is there lack of understanding of service dogs. I will still get my food from them. Hope they can get some education on the service dog laws.

It’s soooo cold outside so I decided to order some chinese delivery, and this place is about a mile from my house. I ordered generals chicken egg rolls and some fantail shrimp. A young lady took my order and she was anything but friendly, to the point of being short with me. First red flag. I got my order in about 30 mins, not too bad. However, the food was really inedible. Worst chinese food Ive had in years. The chicken had a funny taste to it like maybe it wasnt so fresh. The egg rolls were tasteless and the shrimp were mostly breading. Hell will freeze over before I order from this place again. Id rather starve!!!

The best chinese food north of the river. I can’t say enough good things. The prices are ridiculously reasonable. The lunch buffet is crazy cheap, although its small, it has all the best stuff. The workers have been there forever. The hot and sour soup is the best i have ever had and its HOT! Not too much tofu, just the right amount of mushrooms. The buffet is always hot and full. When we moved to liberty and i still drove all the way over there for take out. I have now moved out of state, and will ABSOLUTELY stop by there when i visit. I have had chinese 2 places in my new state and it was awful. :/Love this place!!!

We have never physically been to this place, but have ordered for delivery a couple of times because its the only Chinese that delivers wontons. My kid loves wontons. The menu is limited, but has all of the expected items. The food is just not good. The times we have gotten it, it just tastes like they took it off the buffet and the buffet was made up from three week old freezer burned items.

We always order delivery, as we did tonight. We think it’s the best around us, always hot, good flavor, great service, and friendly. We order basics, usually I get a seafood delight which is delicious. Tonight I ordered sweet and sour chicken, Hunan beef. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was crab Rangoon doesn’t seem as good as it used to be– it is the same as all the other restaurants now, and it seemed like it used to taste maybe made in house, or another brand with more crab filling and more flavor. You can’t go wrong ordering from here though. Great food.

I got held over a night at KCI and had to stay at a nearby hotel to catch an early flight. I ordered Rainbow for delivery and it was so unexpectedly yummy! I’m really picky about fast Chinese on the rare occasion I order it. I got the crispy beef, which is a house special. It features battered strips of fried beef slathered in a delicious sauce and topped with shredded bamboo, carrots, celery, and onions. I appreciate the quality of the beef and that it was not overly battered. Thank goodness this comes with rice to soak up all the delicious sauce, which is a lovely mix of sweet and savory. The lady who took my order was very sweet and patient with explaining the dish to me(I couldn’t decide between the crispy beef and orange beef). Delivery straight to my hotel room was also fast and friendly. I highly recommend Rainbow Chinese!

I’m always on the look out for cheap lunch buffets and this place fit the bill. I randomly drove here, because I was in the mood for chinese food. Saw the sign outside that lunch buffet was $ 5.95…umm HECKYES! It was perfect for a nice filling but cheap lunch for me, my grandpa, and my mom. Nothing like chinese food to bond with my Filipino family :) We were greeted at the door and were seated instantly. Naturally we picked the table closest to the table for easy access. When we went to the the buffet, I was disappointed to see that only half of the food were out… to my relief they were still rolling out the food… SODEFINITELYGORIGHTWHENITOPENS for FRESHFOODOUTTATHEKITCHEN :) haha I love buffets that crank out food from the kitchen. It’s a big turn off when I go to other places where you see food that looks like it had been there for hours! So… thank you China Express for keeping your buffet fresh :) So I have to admit that although the selection was small… the food was great for what you pay. I was very skeptical about this place, because of how cheap it was. Here are my top 3 favorite dishes from there: #1 The fried shrimp poppers were the . I couldn’t stop eating those lil’ suckers! I like how they were seasoned perfectly. Honestly could’ve just eaten those and would’ve still been a satisfied customer :) #2 The cabbage dish was really simple, but I think that’s what made it delicious. It probably just had some oyster sauce and some seasoning, but boy when paired with steamed rice… ahhh so good :) #3 It wouldn’t be a Chinese buffet with out those sugar donut balls :) They got it down right. It was covered in sugar and had a crisp top layer. Love being able to bite into a crunch, but chew into a warm fluffy center :) There you have it LOL… my glowing review of this place. Come to think of it I might have gone here when I was in elementary school, but that was eons ago… my palate has matured and changed… so I ain’t that picky little eater… nah who am I kidding I still eat my chicken nuggets from Micky D’s haha Happy Eating!

Recently moved from liberty to Gladstone and have been putting off ordering delivery for Chinese because I wasn’t sure which place would be the best to try. Kam Shengs had always been my go to in liberty. After weeks of contemplating I decided to try this place based on the better reviews. I must say that this was very good, and I will be ordering from them again. I hope to get the same fresh tasting quality next time!

The worst excuse for food of any kind. Sweet and sour pork was nothing but tempura batter. Egg rolls were worse than frozen. Crab Rangoon had no flavor. If you have any taste buds don’t torture them with this garbage!

So far, the best Chinese in the Northland! I’ve only ordered delivery. And they are PROMPT! Their drivers keep your food hot in bags. I’m a picky eater so I special order and they have no problem getting it right each time. It is great food. So much more flavorful than other Chinese I’ve had.

Wasn’t impressed — had crab Rangoon and garlic chicken and it tasted like cardboard — they have better Chinese at the hospital cafeteria where I work.

My favorite Chinese food. Period. It’s always consistent, always hot and fresh and yummy. There are no dirty-tasting mushrooms or chewy mystery meats here. They make the lightest, crispiest veggie spring rolls I have ever eaten. Everything here is good, from the noodles and rice dishes to the stir-frys and deep-fried dishes. I also love their Moo Shu Pork pancakes. My favorite dish is probably the spicy Princess Shrimp(think shrimp done up General Tso’s-style) but I reserve that for dine-in ordering, as breaded dishes rarely travel well, and I usually order takeout or delivery. The staff is super-friendly and always treat me like an old friend that they are happy to see.

Food was fresh and was really good. I am not generally a big fan of Chinese food but this was not bad at all.

China Express epitomizes great takeout food. Every dish is skillfully prepared, and the consistency is always spot on – so if there’s a dish you love, you can count on it tasting the same on your next visit. As my tip says, this restaurant is my gold standard for proper takeout Chinese, particularly Moo Goo Gai Pan, Schezuan Beef(my personal fav), Moo Shu Pork, and Curry Chicken. The crispy spring rolls are amazing, especially dipped in a mixture of their house-made sweet & sour and spicy mustard. It’s the perfect mix of greasy/crunchy with the proper amount of filling that’s perfectly seasoned. The fried rice is always good, although I prefer the plain fried rice(as comes with the lunch special) to the vegetable/meat/combo varieties. You can’t go wrong here, especially if you’re looking for delivery or takeout in the Northland. Most. Underrated. Chinese. Ever.

Like another reviewer, I had forgotten about this place. I don’t have the excuse of moving away though. It’s just a few miles from home. It’s located in a nearly deserted shopping area, but the quality of the food attests to it’s survival. I revisited it tonight with a takeout order of Hot & Sour Soup, Crab Rangoon, and Kung Pao Chicken. Everything was as wonderful as I remember. The portions were large, the prices reasonable, and the food was outstanding. The people who work there are still very friendly. I am already looking forward to my next visit!

A nice change from the other Chinese restaurants that we’ve been going to(a bit too often.) I can recommend the Crispy Shrimp with Fried Rice here. Our usual waiter is a really nice guy, very friendly — I think he’s the Taiwanese(?) guy that Branson T mentioned. Never had a problem with the food or the service, usually nice and quiet dine-in.

Much to my chagrin I’d forgotten about this place, when I moved a little farther south in the Northland. I remembered it once in awhile, wanting to take the Wolf there after we started dating, but just kept forgetting. Finally got there this weekend. Yay ! They have changed owners and redecorated since my last time there and wow, does it ever look nice ! Some changes to some of the recipes too. Wolfie had the hot & sour soup and raved about it ! I was a bit disappointed with the spring rolls. The flavor was great, but waaaaaaaay to greasy for me. I had the Szechuan Tofu and was blown away. It was even better the next day. Wow… that rhymed. Wolfie got the fried rice with his meal. Man, I’d forgotten how good it is here. I should have remembered… this is where I had it for the first time. I’ll be sure not to forget this time, and hit this place a little more often.

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant in the world. It’s not authentic, it’s Americanized Chinese food, but honestly, who cares? I’m not Chinese. I’m not looking for the way ‘momma used to make it.’ I’m looking for deep fried, soy-sauce drenched chicken parts and fluffy, greasy rice. C. Express exceeds my expectations at every twist. I don’t know how it came to be that I first dined here, but I remember why it became my regular spot. See, I went to a place called Rainbow Chinese off of I-29 and Barry Rd a number of years ago. I had a dish called Egg Foo Yung. Or Young, whatever. For some reason, it took 18 years of my life to discover this amazing dish. If you’ve never had it, it’s basically a Chinese omelet covered in heart-attack gravy with pieces of chicken, pork, beef and shrimp swimming in it. It was love at first forkful. I ate at Rainbow many times. It was a decent enough place… Dimly lit, quiet. There was a nice server there, had him every time. A small, effeminate man who appeared to be of Taiwanese origin. Super friendly. Eventually, he left. When he left, the majesty of the EFY left as well. The dark brown, soy-based gravy grew pale, and became the sort of tasteless thing you’d expect at a KFC or an Old Country Buffet. Regular brown gravy. What?! So I left. And I spent many a listless month looking for my Egg Foo fix. And eventually, I found myself at China Express. And wouldn’t you know it, there was my little Taiwanese friend. We embraced(not really) as tears of joy coursed my cheeks(didn’t happen). Taking it as an omen, I ordered the Egg Foo Young. Or Yung, whatever. And behold, the angels did sing as the trumpets blared. It was my old favorite dish. Look, I don’t know if he carries the recipe around with him in the back pocket of his tight black lady-jeans or if God is just looking out for me. In any case, I was born anew, a Phoenix rising from the ashes. I’ve had other things at the Express, but I never get too far away from my eggy passion. The rice is amazing– piping hot, chock full of veggies– and the egg drop soup is like every happy memory you have in soup form. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired– it’s usually just you, your dining companion and 4 or 5 workers. Sometimes there are young kids cavorting about– punching one another and doing their homework– but usually it’s really, really quiet. I used to worry that this absence of clientele meant that they’d go under sooner than later. Apparently they do a mean job on carryout, though, because it’s been years and they’re still going strong. You seriously don’t know what you’re missing though. Do me a favor and stop by. Tell them I sent you. They’ll have no idea what that means and they’ll look at you strangely. They’ll still feed you, though, and for that, you’ll thank me later.
