I liked it but it would be much better if it were indoors AND if they had less sweet items and more savory.

5th year(out of 7) attendee. Thank you Ameristar, Farmland, and Rehabilitation Institute for«Rehabilitating Baconfest». After last year’s bomb(IMO) Baconfest came back strong and better than ever. The parking lot at Ameristar was more than adequate. This may have been the least crowded thus far. Ameristar beer service and Farmland bacon were on point. The ticket«rationing» system I was worried about was actually no problem at all(I could have used some more servings of Brown Sugar Bacon). Our annual guy trip from Iowa has been restored and we look forward to the future of Baconfest. Please try to keep the venue at Ameristar(we spent a good few hours there before and after). My only suggestion: This was my first time doing VIP. While it was excellent, I found it somewhat difficult to justify the double price in the future. I would suggest maybe withholding the«rationing» system in the VIP hour and then I feel the value is there. The reserved items in the VIP area were just ok.

This was our first time going to this event, and through a stroke of good luck, we won tickets to the BaconFest! We didn’t even have this on our radar, but I’m so glad we went. Lots of bacon-centric treats to sample and enjoy, plus all you can drink beer and water? What’s not to like? The weather was just a bit on the warm side for me, and the event could certainly do with more tents for shelter from the sun and seating options just to have a place to rest now and again. A great fundraiser and charity event if you love all things bacon!

Very fun event!!! I think I still have bacon in my teeth. Ameristar was a great location for Bacon Fest! I’m glad the Rehab Institute came up with this and I know they get a TON of money from it. From the moment we walked in we were having a blast. It was fun to try all of the different bacon samples from pork partners and vote on what we thought was the best dish. We had brown sugar bacon, bacon wrapped pork belly, bacon brownies, maple bacon scones, bacon popcorn… you name it, they had it. It was great! Not to mention the unlimited beer! My morning workout didn’t mean a thing after coming here. The bacon eating contest was the perfect combination of disgusting and entertaining, The music was solid, and the festival was pretty organized. Overall, I would return in years to come! This event is a hit! My only issue is the price, the event feels 20 or 30 dollars-ish, not really fifty. Still awesome! Can’t go wrong with bacon and beer! ‘Merica!

Loved all the bacon-inspired food samples: bacon-wrapped pork belly, bacon covered brownies, bacon scones, bacon popcorn, bacon soda, & more. Great idea to have the ticket bands to coordinate stations. It helped us keep track of what we’d tried & where each was located. I had more blonde than expected as I’m more of a sour drinker(hint, hint). My only complaints were having nowhere to set anything down; it made eating samples & drinking difficult. Also, a few tents or some kind of shade would have also made a world of difference. If not for the wind, the excessive sweating would have sent me home after our last samples. If a little better set-up, or a kinder day, this is an event I would love to taste again.

Bacon. Tons of bacon. Bacon popcorn. Bacon brownies. Bacon Mac & cheese. You get the point. With admission to Bacon Fest, not only do you contribute to charity, you also get tons of bacony samples and lots of AmeriBrew pub beer. With 10 vendors providing food samples, you really get to try a lot of different things. My favorites were the Lucky bakery scones and the Funky Monkey popcorn. We didn’t partake in all you can eat bacon contest($ 10) but watched, and it was pretty entertaining. The beer samples were good, including the pale ale, dark lager, and blonde. The event was held in the parking lot at the Ameristar Casino, not too much shade but thankfully the weather was nice today for the event. Enjoying the food beer and people watching. A fun way to celebrate a Midwestern staple.
