Microtel Inn and Suites Charlotte Concord/Kannapolis

One of the worst places I stayed. Our phone didnt work and they didnt have a spare one. Their tv was at least 20 years old. Its Wifi signal was also very weak (and my room was 50 ft away from the lobby on the same floor), and the bathroom light didn’t come on until 5 min later after I flipped it’s switch. Thank God it will be a very long time before I go there again.

The word Crip is carved on the inside of the elevator door. They seemed to cater to that kind of crowd… lots of scary looking people in the hallways and parking lot. I had a friend visiting and she picked this location due to price and location (a lot of hotels out towards the speedway but not many to choose from on this side of Concord). My friend ended up feeling way too scared to stay here after she was awaked at 1am with police searching every room in the hotel like this was a regular thing and called myself and my husband to come meet her when she left. The hallways were full of drug dealers, strung out prostitutes and police… how does Microtel allow this in their establishment?! She sent me a photo of the inside of the elevator door when she first went to check in… I’ll try to find it. Very scary and not a place for a female.

Words CANNOT describe how horrid the hotel was/​is !! What I thought was going to be an enjoyable week out of town turned into THEE WORST VACATION EVER. Upon arrival, there was no entrance. I understand the hotel was under renovation/​construction but, you would think someone would’ve made a sign directing you to the door that would be the temporary entrance but, NOOOOO. Instead, we were left playing «musical doors» to find a way into the hotel. Check in went smooth but, things changed. Our FIRST room was disgusting. The bathroom was not clean. We found vomit on the side of the toilet, unclean towels, and hair everywhere. I called the front desk and they gave us a new room. Did I mention the phone in the room did not work ?
Once we were moved to our new room things were moving in a good direction. Until, the next morning. Before my fiancé left for a business meeting, I told him to put the do not disturb sign on the door so, I could sleep without housekeeping coming in but, that didn’t matter. As I was getting dressed to leave housekeeping totally disregarded the do not disturb and let herself in the room. I was in an uproar. Why have those signs if they won’t abide by what the it stands for. So, I called the front desk on the second broken phone and the front desk associate answers the phone with «yes» !! Really? No, «hello front desk» or «at the very least an «how can help you ?» But, «yes» like I was a bother.
I had had it. I immediately started packing our belongings, went down the front desk, gave the staff a piece of my mind, and demanded a refund. The manage did apologize but, her excuse for the horrible service was the «renovations». The renovations had nothing to do with keeping the rooms clean, the staff abiding by the do not disturb or the way the staff answer the phone when guest call the front desk and to put the icing on the cake, as I was leaving the hotel staff was crowding the ONE entrance that was available having a smoke break. To say that this hotel is bad is an understatement. It is a dump and detrimental to your health. This hotel should be shut down.

I booked this reservation as a non smoking early in the year. The night I arrived they moved us to a smoking room due to renovations without prior notification. The room itself is very poorly maintained and the cleanliness is questionable. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. I certainly won’t be again.

The only reason I am giving them a star is because they are making me. Do not stay here. They have bugs. We were given two rooms both had bugs in the sheets.
SOOOO gross. I felt like some type of porn group scene was filmed in the room. Apart from the bugs there were small black curly hairs all over the room.
There was also some type of crusty stuff on the window seat. I had to call the home office about the state of this place.
Also they were handing out bug spray at the front desk like it was a normal thing and the lady at the front desk yelled at me. And while I was canceling my room at this hell hole of a place this woman was at the front desk with bite marks all over her face.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Do not stay here!!!

The service was slow compared to the others this is the black sheep of the microtel. The room smells funny the walls are dirty plus it has a 1980 tv. The good thing is there is free breakfast and alright price.
Had to edit my review above when I saw a non smoking room with cigarette ashes. I do not recommend this to anyone.
