I’ve been dying to visit this store but never knew where to find it. While dinning with some friends, we saw this come up on Unilocal and had to investigate. We made it a little scavenger hunt! The store is tucked away on the corner of Kalaheo and Kailua drive near the Island Snow across the street from Kalapawai Market. The convenience store is very small but cute. The shop keeper greeted us and was very friendly. We were immediately drawn to the jewelry and other cute decorations in the front of the shop. The owner told us that she likes to stock store with items the locals love. I really appreciate that she is so in tuned with the neighbor hood. We were able to score some great beverages that are hard to find at other convenience stores.

If you are going to Kailua or Lanikai beaches then this is a great stop for some last minute water and drinks. Great stop next to Bob’s pizza and Island Snow.

Lanikai General store is a great little store that has a little of everything. I love going here and looking at all the new stock they bring in from local vendors. The owner is a lovely person who makes everyone feel like friend or family.

The owner was so polite and generous. My friend noticed the store had a Japanese flying fish streamer(Koinobori). He wanted to buy one to bring back to Cali for his mommy, cause they are Japanese! I mean we honestly looked for one at a few stores! Anywho he noticed it & asked if it was for sale, & the lady told him it wasn’t for sale, but we could have it for $ 2… That is an unusually kind and generous answer to something you only don’t want to sell! We were extremely grateful and loved the Aloha kindness. We’ve been here several times and every time has been a positive experience! Good vibes Hawaii

I love this little store so much, that I’ll go in just to talk to the shopkeeper Donna, who is absolutely wonderful. She will special order Cock&Bull ginger beer(for our Moscow Mules and Dark and Stormy’s) for us and we love the Kailua made Loco Ono salsa there. Lots of original gifts and delicious food to bring down to the beach as well. Feels like a good old fashioned hometown store!

This little convenience store is located on Kailua Road next to Bob’s BostonPizza. If you’re looking for a quaint little general store this isn’t it… it’s a tiny convenience store stocked with everything you’ll need for the beach and more. They’ve got snacks, cute jewelry and souvenirs(tasteful souvenirs, lol). They’ve even got a F’real smoothie/shake machine in the back by the coffee. The sandwiches and salads are fresh and reasonably priced. There are bottled cold drinks and beer in the back, along with small bags of ice for sale. The good thing about this place that along with the friendly service there is lots of parking!

You know the impulse purchase section at any store you go into? Well, I feel like Lanikai General Store is a blown up version of that. Candy, chips, souvenirs, drinks, jewelry… that’s basically what it is. There is a refrigerated section with some pre-made sandwiches, a modest drink selection and just one row of items you might need. I only stop in here to get a coffee in the mornings when I’m headed to the beach at the ass crack of dawn otherwise, I’d just go the other 50 ft to Kalapawai Market.

We love this store! My mom, sister and I went in to check it out after having shaved ice, and we were greeted by Brandon, a super friendly and informative clerk! He told us all about all the local artists and creators who are represented. He was wonderful! I love supporting local businesses like this. We got lots of local souvenirs, and we’re happy to avoid the crappy and expensive souvenir shops. Make sure to check them out!

I absolutely love this place! It has a lot of yummy snacks to please my palate and friendly customer service. I always seem to run into someone I know in there or strike up a conversation with the friendly sales associate and it is wonderful being able to take a quick break and have a pleasant chat. I really like how they always offer you a bag(which is paper and environmentally friendly) and even have a little take a penny, leave a penny dish. This store is close to my home and has an excellent selection of individual treats and snacks(such as single serve ice creams, chips, hand made sandwiches, and my ultimate favorite uncrustable pb&j sandwiches.) The prices are pretty reasonable for locals and tourists alike. Parking is relatively easy to find. Only complaint is that they require credit/debit purchases to be over $ 5, but even that is understandable. Overall, an awesome store :)

I stopped by to check out the Lanikai General Store this week and ended up staying for almost half an hour! Donna, the owner is a long time Kailua resident and wife of Bobby — of Bob’s/Boston Pizza. She is stocking a great mixture of snacks/beverages along with tourist trinkets and some great art all by local artists. It’s easy to get lost in conversation in that store so beware! The store is a great replacement for First Stop and a great new Kailua business I will continue to support!
