Sorry but no. Not when there’s bugs in the food… I wanted to eat here sooooo bad! So I got here I was excited. But then I saw this in my bowl and got sick real fast. The cashier or manager whoever she was never did anything all she said was«oh sorry» with no sincerity so. I’m NEVER coming back.

We went out of our way to try this place. We tried the teriyaki and the garlic fried Korean chicken. Easily the best food we have had in Hawaii and would gladly rather eat here than any of the fine dining resort joker restaurants in the hilton. Also, the girl at the cashier was very nice and the patio seating with fans was nice. Loved it.

Most authentic Korean food on the island! Their menu does offer up a mix of the customary Hawaiian plate lunch dishes(very yummy), but if you’re craving any traditional Korean dishes and stews, like soon-tofu and yukgaejang, Chicken Holic is pretty much the only game in town. My only wish is that they would expand that portion of the menu to get include dishes like dukguk, mee yuk guk, seullung tang, and other comfort foods. But I understand the market for those dishes may be limited. Otherwise, these Korean tastebuds always appreciate the food there. Bit of warning: when they say spicy, they truly mean it!

what a tease! I was craving korean food so stopped in. ordered fish jun plate, made with mahi — jun was good and portion perfect. it comes with 2 scoop rice, a small 2oz container of kim chi, and your choice of macaroni salad or green salad(only dressing ranch or 1000 island). I asked if I could skip the salad and have just kim chi. I personally hate ranch and 1000 island and don’t really pair green salad with my korean food. I’ve never been to a korean place where they won’t even sell you extra kim chi. also no other korean side dish. meh

I have been waiting to take my son here who is a chicken holic himself and it was definitely worth the wait. Even though lacking in ambiance, we received patient and helpful service and a warm reception. The Krispy Chicken meal my son got was the best he has ever had. And the portions! Huge, especially for the price in this area. I had the chicken katsu with curry(yummy!) and my son’s girlfriend had the chicken teriyaki. This is located next to a liquor store which may be off-putting to some but I cannot wait to go back.

Awesome chicken! I could have eaten more. Brought my own Waipio Valley poi to dip it in. Owner was very nice and helpful!

I had the chicken bi bim bap… Satisfied my craving for Korean food! I’ve had better tasting and bigger portions from other Korean restaurants(in Oahu) but being that this is just about the only place that does Korean food in Kona, it’s pretty yummy. We didn’t know that our plates were supposed to come with a side of kim chee since the guy serving us forgot to give it to us and we ended up buying some from the Ice House next door. Their kim chee is homemade and pretty darn tasty with just the right amount of spice. My husband had their spicy Korean fried chicken plate… 6 big pieces of fried chicken for $ 10.99. Not too bad. He said their chicken is mostly batter and tasted on the sweet side. Not the local style Korean chicken I’m used to eating but it was still yummy. Overall, I would go back for their Korean food.

A non descript location… literally a hole in the wall. Mac salad — just the way I like it. Garlic aioli that came with the French fries was awesome. We got the Hot Crispy and the Original Fried chicken. Both were juicy with crispy skin(yum). Only slight complaint is the chicken is not whole pieces but rather hacked up pieces.

First I told them I was a Unilocaler and that didn’t get me anywhere. The girl behind the counter was really hot but it felt like she didn’t want to be there instead go to the beach. Maybe I was just used to everyone else on the island being so nice to me. Ordered 12 piece spicy Korean for $ 13. Can’t even get different flavors unless you order the 6 piece which is $ 9. we got our order and well it was all batter and bones. Got to the chicken part and it was bloody. Oh man!!! No chicken wings or drums here. I don’t even know what part of the chicken we were eating. It might as well be chicken nuggets from McDonald’s. On a good note the potato twist cheese flavor was awesome. Would not go back unless the hot girl behind the counter calls me or just use less batter.

We were in Kona for 7 nights and got take out twice from here. We did not go to any restaurant more than once on this trip. The spicy chicken was our favorite. Perfectly crisp and spicy without being too hot. The Korean sweet and garlic chicken was too sticky and sweet for us. The mild regular was just plain. The spicy chicken has a different batter which gave it more crispy texture and was good heated next night. The kimchee was good too! Authentic and perfectly fermented!

This place is pretty darn good! Being from California I’ve had the experience of eating Korean food in Santa Clara and from LA where there are Korean restaurants everywhere! The chicken here is definitely on point! The crispness and the sauce made it feel like I was eating it back at home. People complained of the sweetness which I do agree it’s a bit sweet but it’s supposed to be that sweet in my experience with the ones that have the sauces. This place is not only good but definitely worth the money! You get so much! We got a chicken plate and a 6 piece all for $ 20! Normally that would be about $ 35 in ca. A definite must try!

Delicious, huge freaking portions, I’ve got to get to know the menu a lot more before I can know what to order. It is very good, and good value for what you get.

I’m Korean. I wouldn’t trust some of these other reviewers based on their pics. This place is delish. Admittedly didn’t try the sweeter marinades but the others rock. And…the other korean dishes are great too. Recommended fo sho. It is true that the location kinda sucks

I am a big Korean chicken fan, but I am not loving it at Chicken Holic. As other Unilocal reviewers have said, some of the sauces on the fried chicken are too sweet and I completely agree. The sauce is swimming in honey and grease and made me feel sick after eating it. If you want really good Korean(fried) Chicken go to Big Island Grill or Pine Trees Café. If I’m going to eat food that’s as bad for me as fried chicken it better be really great. Despite the cute name I am not impressed with the food at Chicken Holic and will likely not return. Also, what’s up with all the Sunday closures and leaving the open signs out on Kaiwi Street? This is very annoying for the customers to drive into the parking lot and park only to find out the restaurant is closed, this has happened twice for me.

This spot is legit! If you never had Korean fried chicken(aka KFC), this is the place to go. While most of my stay was at Waikoloa, we traveled to Kona to see the touristy stuff and go shopping for souvenirs and do some activities. We ate all around, and had a lot of fun, but out of all the stops we ate at, this was the biggest hit. Chicken was very good, we had the original, spicy, and another i cant remeber at thus time. Also had a few rice plates and they were good as well. Not much selection on the sides, but entrée prtions are large. If you find your way to Kona, check this place out!

Wings? Or mini chicken breasts?! We ordered 12 wings for two people and split a potato stick — and had to leave back several of the wings because we got so full! Had I known, we would have been fine ordering 6 for the two of us! Flavors: original fried — just as it sounds — fried chicken, no or little spice but nice and crispy. Garlic — not very«garlicky» — almost like a less sweet and less spicy General Tso’s chicken, but again, it was wonderfully crisp. Service — super! Friendly and glad we were there — let me use their sink to wash my hands afterwards(there is no public restroom). I’d go back but order less or order a meal plate or something.

6 adults got 36 pieces and two fries. Very tasty first few bites. Crispy. Almost like candy. Then, too sweet. Overly sweet. Eating candy for a meal. After 1 – 2 pieces, I got sick of it. All tasted similar. Just sweet. Korean spicy sauce was better than others because the spicyness lowered the sweetness some.

Do you know one of the perks of being a chicken holic? Unlike being an alcoholic or a drug addict, people don’t pester you to go to rehab. Thank goodness, because I have no intention of fixing my chicken addiction. The chicken here is phenomenal. They do a stand up job flavoring their food. It’s kind of like a family run joint because they really care about their customers and keeping them happy with fabulous service. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I was working on the Big Island yesterday, and upon finishing my job, my co-worker had mentioned to me about a place he had stopped by recently for a bite… the place was called«CHICKENHOLIC»! With a catchy name like that, how could you go wrong??? After all, you know what they serve, no need to guess what they specialize in??? Upon driving around the industrial area in Kailua-Kona, I finally find this little hole in the wall place. Chicken Holic is near the Big Island Toyota, just a few businesses right next door from a Goodyear service center. The street where this business is, runs parallel between Palani Road, & Makala Blvd. What can I say about the grub… LOVEDIT!!! If you’re a fried chicken eating fiend like me, you will love this place!!! They serve several types of chicken, but I was basically here for the«House Special — Hot & Crispy Chicken». I ordered the«6 piece» chicken deal, and I also ordered a potato twist. They have several flavors of the potato twist, but I ended up ordering the«onion» flavor. I must say the chicken was all so delicious! It was crispy(as advertised), hot(as in temperature, not spice), it did not taste greasy at all, it actually tasted kinda light(believe it or not!). There was a dipping sauce that came with the chicken. I used some of it, but could not get a hold of what that sauce was made of… maybe mustard based? Very unique tasting! With my chicken I ordered a potato twist… yes, it’s just a fancy cut potato served differently, but I’ve never had this before, therefore I just had to have it. I’ve seen something similar like this, as one of my friends who went to Korea, had posted a picture of something similar to this. A very interesting way of eating a potato, tried it once, and now I’m over it. That’s all I have to say about that… basically I was just here for the CHICKEN! :) A lot of the chicken stuff was«Ala Carte», which can get expensive. My lunch was just a little over $ 11.00, but hey, it’s something totally different from what I’m use to, compared to my beloved«Popeye’s Fried Chicken!». There is free parking in the private parking lot, it is shared by a liquor store right next door. Oh, and before I forget, there is only outside seating. You go into the joint, & order your food at the counter, then when they call your name, you pick up your food, and find an open table outside. Check ‘em out gang! No can go wrong!!!
