What a delightful and cute place to have breakfast. Excellent fresh food prepared when you order it. Fresh fruit, crispy bacon, good quality eggs and atomic coffee! what a great way to start the day. Plus they have music every 1st and 3rd friday night. we are definitely coming back for more!

Just ordered the Beef Burger with pepper jack and cheddar cheese and some bacon and it was excellent. My wife had quiche with a small side salad and thoroughly enjoyed along with the Thai chicken soup. The service was very solid and the food was delicious. We will be back.

My husband and I went to Julian for lunch and thought we would check out this café Soups & Such. We both had a cup soups vegetable and potato cheese. The soup was excellent! I couldn’t get enough of it. The Mac & cheese(special of the day) was excellent as well. I would go back again and order a bowl of soup this time around. The only draw back is it is super small inside and only has one shared bathroom! They need to add a his and hers.

Over priced for what it was and extremely slow service. I asked to substitute out a handful of chips for a bread roll and you would have thought I was asking for an entire bag. I was told I could have chips as a side, but it would be something like an extra $ 2.50. No thanks. Water glasses were empty more often than not. Plenty of other restaurants in Julian to try that are probably better quality/price point and better service.

This place was an answered prayer. I think we could have closed our eyes and pointed at the menu and been delighted. Seriously. Everything was warm, fresh and filling! If you go make sure you order the grilled cheese(it’s listed as a side but it holds its own crown for delicious). The space itself is quaint and inviting attached to a cute flower shop. Every person in there was exclaiming how good the food was! Lucky I didn’t need that to sway my decision because the spinach feta quiche I got was fantastic, the side salad was perfectly dressed and had zero with lettuce in it. The greens were fresh and varied. The lemon rose pot of tea we got was refreshing and comforting. If you can’t tell– I liked this place.

This place is great, been their 5 or so times, bread is fresh and soft soups are good, I even tried a salad was very good. Nice clean bath room. Prices are fair for what you get.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was crazy busy. You can tell they were really rushing around but service was a taaaaaaad slow. Got the Garden soup. Delicious though we could have made it at home. Cute and quaint!

Went to Julian this weekend and ended up having lunch here. My girlfriend and I both had a bowl of soup and split a grilled cheese sandwich. Soup portions were small considering the price(7 bucks each). Flavor was okay. The French press coffee was on the weak side. Our server was not very attentive(we were the only ones in the restaurant) but she was nice. Overall a 2.5 stars out of 5.

Great place for lunch!(also locals recommend it for breakfast as well) Very adorable and homey décor inside with beautiful wall mural. They offer a variety of soups and lunch combos. I went with a french onion soup and quiche combo and it was absolutely delicious. Spinach quiche was extremely soft and fluffy, just melted in my mouth. French onion soup had a proper sourdough cheesy bread, the broth was very rich and flavorful. Combo came with a simple house salad. I’m happy that we found this spot and definitely be back!

Julian can get super crazy and busy but Soups & Such is kinda on the end of the main drag so when we came for lunch it was dead even though most of the other places in town had waits. We were able to sit right away but after that the service was pretty slow. The menu is pretty limited but I am a huge lover of soup so I was happy with the choices. I had the green soup, I think it was called garden vegetable or something like that. It tasted really good, the primary flavor was broccoli. I only ordered a cup but it was plenty and it came with bread. Overall an ok place to have lunch, especially if you are a soup lover.

We stopped here on a weekday for lunch and had the Chicken Thai soup which was amazing! I’m going to try to copy it at home. Yum! Bob had the mac and cheese special — he liked it. I had a gluten free piece of bread and wonderful salad. I’d go back in a heart beat!

If you’re looking for a white table cloth linen setting in Julian, it’s not happening. Most eatery’s in the neighborhood are very small and crowded. Soups and Such seems to stand above the rest with quality of food. Serving mostly American dishes, the menu presents well. Breakfast is however off the menu after 11AM. I made all efforts to order sautéed potatoes from the breakfast page at 2PM, it didn’t happen. Small cozy location with ample seating that boast’s a country décor with bright colors and simple art works. We both opted for lunch combo’s at $ 12.00 each. Rosario had a veggie half sandwich on rye, house salad with balsamic vinaigrette and pea soup. I had a feta spinach quiche with the same salad/dressing and a potato corn chowder soup. The food did take a little long to make and that is always a good sign that hopefully everything is fresh. Both our salads were crispy and chilled just right, black olives, red onions, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers were fresh and crisp. For beverages we took the basic approach, tea and coffee with ice lemon water on the side. I did get a glimpse of the burgers and they looked very appealing, nothing overly big but a descent serving. Honestly our food was above normal and the only reason for the 3 stars is because our server didn’t perform at best. A+ for the kitchen. Perhaps our server was new and isn’t trained, well? 1. Not too familiar with menu 2. No spoon for stirring hot beverages 3. Creamer was not given 4. Silverware was not given 5. Refills were not asked 6. Follow up such as, can I get you anything else, is everything ok. 7. I had to approach counter to get our tab. If you’re looking for a healthy meal, Soups and Such can accommodate and will deliver a well balanced meal. Good enough to revisit in my book, yes! Keeping it real :)

This little place was perfect on a FREEZING cold day. My guy and I shared a bowl of the green harvest soup and a grilled cheese. The green harvest soup is blended broccoli, carrots, potatoes, and zucchini — it was perfectly seasoned and ABSOLUTELY delicious! Seriously, I wanted to bring 20 bowls of this home(or steal the recipe)! There were pieces of melted cheese on top which I didn’t quite understand, but didn’t bother me either. The grilled cheese which was sooo melty and buttery on a thick bread, nicely toasted. Our meal was only 12 $ and completely filled us up — this seemed like a steal compared to the rest of the menu, which seems to run a bit higher. Service was a bit slow but friendly. Cute and clean interior!

We came for dinner at Soups and Such on a rainy weekend evening, hoping for some hot, filling food. As a group, we had the curry tuna salad sandwich, burger, veggie sandwich, corn soup, broccoli and cheese soup, and butternut squash soup. Sadly, the best things of the night were the $ 4 beer and the strawberry lemonade. The curry tuna salad sandwich was decent but overall fairly average. The broccoli soup was lukewarm and sorely lacked seasoning(adding salt and asking them to heat the soup up helped). The burger was fairly sub-par. Overall we found the food average and the service sub-par(mostly just slow and inattentive, despite not being very busy). Unfortunately, there aren’t that many better options in Julian so if you’re stuck it’s not a terrible option.

I would have never thought that I would have had one of the best salads I had at this little café in Julian! The place itself is very petite– we had to wait a little while for our party of two but they take your cell number and call you so you don’t have to wait around. The menu is larger than I thought it would be– they have a fresh plethora of salads, sandwiches, soups and burgers, etc. They make it known that all of their ingredients are local and ethically raised. I love this concept alone. I had the nicoise salad– fresh tuna, avocado– the shallot vinegar was delicious. We also ordered a curry chicken sandwich, and I just had to try it, it was amazing. They even have a nice beer and wine list so this is the perfect spot. Friendly staff and charming character– just like the rest of Julian. Stop here for sure!

Fiancé and I stopped here for lunch after choosing the first place that sounds good. I was also craving soup the last few days. It’s a nice little restaurant with two sides to it as well as outdoor seating. We ordered the passion fruit tea to start, it was fresh and tasty. I ordered the half sandwich/salad/soup combo with a curry tuna sandwich and broccoli brie soup. I hadn’t ever tried anything close to either versions of these entrees. The curry tuna on sourdough was so so so delicious. It wasn’t like anything else I’ve ever tried. Sane goes for the soup which had pureed potato and I think zucchini among other ingredients. It was topped with sliced almonds and melted brie. They were both delicious. Service was fast especially considering there was one server working 5 tables and the entire staff was very pleasant.

This small town restaurant is very intimate and has some great choices on their menu along with some great tea if you’re into that kind of thing. It only fits a maximum of about 2 dozen people, but the staff seem to have a hard time keeping up when it gets close to capacity. It was hard for us to get the waitress’s attention or even get simple things like refills or creamer. And if you plan on coming here when it’s cold or hot, dress appropriately, as there is very little insulation and no protection from the gusts when the door opens or the continuous draft for those sitting nearby. The food itself is good, and overall if you’re around Julien for lunch it’s worth stopping in if you’re feeling up for a sandwich/soup/salad combo. Just be patient and don’t expect them to actually use all of those beautiful teapots on display; you just get a generic steel one.

Soups and Such is such a small and unassuming place, but it is oh so good! Located on Main Street in the small town of Julian, Soups and Such offers just what the name suggests… soups and«such»(sandwiches, mac n’ cheese, salads, etc.) They also offer wine, beer, and soft drinks. I ordered their special of the day, which was Mac N’ Cheese, a Salad and Soup(Broccoli and Cheese). The best part of my meal was the Mac N’ Cheese… it was SOGOOD. My soup and salad was just mediocre to be honest. I also ordered a Pale Ale Beer, which was good and reasonably priced. My boyfriend ordered their Soup and Salad combo, and he shared my Mac N’ Cheese with me. He also agreed that the Mac N’ Cheese is what made the meal. Service was awesome, everyone that worked there was so friendly and personable. I loved it! I’d come back to Soups and Such the next time I’m in Julian! Cheers!
