Wicked Awesome Cuts

I’ve been getting mine and my wife’s haircut at Wicked Awesome for a few months. Renee does a great job and last time there was a new person in the shop. Krystal is just out of school and she gave me an excellent old school scissor cut that grew in beautifully. We were a few weeks late getting back to the shop due to busy schedule and I still looked spiffy.

Having moved to Joshua Tree in early December, I needed to find a place for a haircut for the Holidays and beyond. I checked out the reviews on Unilocal and decided on Wicked Awesome Cuts. With all 5-​Star reviews, I hoped I had found my place. YIKES! Was I ever wrong.
When I arrived, Rene was about ready to head out for the rest of the day and left me with the young woman who handles the «civilian» haircuts. I don’t know where the «civilian» barber was schooled, but by the time I headed out of the shop, I was ready to go home and shave my entire head. WHAT A MESS! She didn’t even trim my neck.
The reviews on Unilocal seem to praise Rene, and I may have had a different outcome if she had cut my hair. All I can say is… DONT have your hair cut by the «civilian» barber.

Rene was great … I was overdue for a haircut … way overdue … and she was happy to take on the task with a smile. Very professional and sensitive to what the customer wants which in my case I wasn’t really sure. She did her magic and I (and especially) my wife were very happy with the results. We’ll be back. I’ve always been very particular about my hair. Back east, once I found a great barber, I went to her for nearly three years, so I was nervous when I moved out here. Luckily I happened upon Renee’s little shop on my first weekend and have been going back ever since. I like to keep my hair long on top with a part and pomade. She keeps it tamed and finishes the look off with a good quality straight razor fade. It can get busy when the boots roll in but don’t let that discourage you!

Please don’t come here. She’s already busy enough… Renee is hands down the best barber in the area, and surely one of the neatest, nicest persons you’ll meet in the entire area. First off, she’s a very good, skilled barber and hair stylist. She’s a perfectionist too, never rushes and provides unparalleled professional and friendly customer service. It’s evident in all her regular clients. I try and go on off days and off hours and coordinate with Renee, who is awesome with that too. The little shop is so easy to get to, and is comfortable and really cool inside too. The best.

I was Renee’s first customer yesterday. I haven’t had a decent hair cut in nine months. There were so many split ends she had to hunt down my layers. Best haircut in years and super reasonable. Tip her 25%! The grapes were much appreciated on a hot day.

The first time I met Renee was when my darling 10 yr old son got gum stuck in his hair on the top of his head (last year) We ended up getting a short marine cut for him. He absolutely loved it and so did I. We have been going back every since! She is so nice and down to earth. Love talking to her and she is always super articulate with her cuts. One time I took my son to someone else between cuts, ummm never again. Total fail. I talked about her so much that now my husband goes to her too! Said the same thing, She is the best in the high desert!

Renee took her time trimming my redbeard and was great conversation! $ 8 trim and totally down to earth

Took a friend here to fix his jacked up hair cut. I kid you not this place fixed his head. The fade was perfect. The people that staff the place are cool and that nice driving though a Desert.

Talk about feeling at home. Renee aka mama bear really brings the feeling of the barber shop back

Got a great cut with a clean shave for $ 8. Plenty of parking and cool atmosphere. Cut includes a rinse. Open 10 – 8 fri and sat, open a bit later on Sunday.
