On our way back to Eureka Springs AR from Denver, we stopped in for lunch in downtown Joplin. We found the Red Onion and it looked inviting. We enjoyed it. On the corner with good parking, it’s a good option in downtown Joplin. Apparently an old bank building, they have a few touches to remind you. Otherwise, it looks like a mid-range chain restaurant. Clean, bright and comfortable enough. We got really good service. Our server stayed attentive and met our every need. My wife got a salad and loved it. I got the Arkansas Smokehouse Chicken sandwich and it tasted fresh and delicious. We also ordered dessert, a very passable Key Lime Pie and a good Caramel Fudge Pecan Cake. We left sated and happy. If I’m in the Joplin area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to return for a meal.

Me and my fiancé went here the other day and absolutely loved the food. Their seasonal Gobble Gobble was amazing and the tomato soup was just as good. I would have taken a picture but completely forgot as it tasted that good. Service was great as everyone was up beat and extremely friendly! I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner!

One of my favorite places in town! I have to eat gluten free, and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable on how to make food that I can have. I would like to give a review on several things on the menu but honestly I tried the Mufaletta[sp] and it was so good that I have ordered it every time. My husband is not gluten free and he loves the«penne from heaven». The house salad dressing is really good too. Comfortable environment, very nice staff, great food… If I had to find something wrong with this place, I would have to say that I wish there was a gluten free dessert option.

Joplin standard for years. It never fails to please. The food is consistently good and the variety is good enough to keep coming back over and over. Also, kid-friendly. Always has a great wait staff!

Great service and food! Only thing I would do is add some lower price meals to the menu.

I worked in Joplin over an extended period of time and sampled just about every restaurant in the area, with Red Onion Café providing the best overall«can’t go wrong» dining experience. Though the menu selections are varied enough to please everyone, I got addicted to the fried chicken salad so didn’t sample much more. I and my colleagues always left happy.

Althought the appetizers and entries are huge the food is a lacking flavor. There were alot of people in the restaurant and service was OK, but it doesn’t leave you with a feeling of coming back and trying something else.

I LOVE this restaurant! Always clean, not a chain and the best waitress ever, Kristi! I love the David’s Fried Chicken salad and the Key Lime cheesecake. This is a staple of our community. I always take people visiting here because it is consistent.

Service was excellent. the indoor setting is very nice. the staff is very friendly. and this place is a local favorite. coconut chicken was an interesting appetizer, I think some marmalade would really make it come to life the Mandarin salad I had was interesting, was like it had granola in it something. A bit odd the tasty. I think I’ll need to test some more items on the menu to come to my final conclusion

I love love love this place! The smoked chicken dip is to die for! I’ve had salads, sandwiches, homemade chips, chicken, seafood! I haven’t come across anything I didn’t like. You won’t be disappointed. You can go as casual or as dressy as you want. The Red Onion in Galena served breakfast. Go now and enjoy!!!

Great food and service with a smile! I had the smoked turkey sandwich and loved it. My friends had coconut chicken and David’s chicken salad which I will try on future trips. Loved the carrot cake!

I ordered the Coconut Fried Chicken Dinner and Hubby ordered Tuxedo Chicken Pasta. Both were served with a salad or soup. My salad was served with the house dressing and I found it to be yummy! Both meals were generous in their portions and were well prepared. Our server was very friendly and the Manager provided interesting history about Joplin. Definitely recommend and will return when in the area again.

This is a precious little gem nestled in the heart of downtown Joplin. My mother in law frequents here and when we came in town she had to take us. I’m so glad she did! Do yourself a favor… Start off with the Smoked Chicken Dip. It will leave you wanting to lick the bowl. The rest of the menu has everything from soups and salads to pasta and burgers. The first time I went, I was able to tailor my order to accommodate my gluten-free diet. No problems at all! The next time I went, I decided to try the pasta(yes, I know not GF, but so delish!). I ordered the chicken pesto tortellini and wouldn’t have complained if I had seconds or thirds. It will be a place we frequent when in the area and makes me wish I had access to such yummyness in my own town.

Salad is very fresh and the vegetables crunchy. Lots of walnuts in the chicken salad. Chicken Alfredo pasta was tasty with an average dosage of chicken. The quirky beers are a plus! We have no reason to dispute the assertion that Red Onion Café is the cream of Joplin’s crop. Worth a stopover even if you’re just passion’ through.

Omg. Traveling through Joplin, I did not expect to find such a delicious salad! It was delightful. Fresh apples, roasted walnuts, blue cheese, dressing on the side, spinach… Just delightful!

Awesome food and fantastic service! I brought a friend here for dinner bc she is from Joplin and said this is the place to go. She was right! We had one of the best filet mignon ever w one of the best risottos I have ever had. We also tried a couple of different beers. They have a very selective but great and different drink menu. It is a must try w excellent service! You will not be disappointed.
