Super yummy oreo shake! The window service was very efficient — walk up, ring bell when ready to order, order/pay, get your ice cream yummyness in a few minutes. Will definitely be back to try either a chocolate or strawberry malt very soon! P. S. Cash only.

Family owned and operated ice cream shop just off the bike trail. We love coming here and always see people we know. The people are friendly, and they have a huge variety of soft serve ice cream treats. Their dining area inside is very small, so plan to eat your cone outside on the benches or tables. It’s cash only, so plan accordingly. Kids get googly eyes on their cones(see pictures), which is the highlight of our family’s experience here. Keep up the good work!

We love cruising in during the summer and carousing with other classic car lovers. The ice cream is divine, and the staff is delightful. Love this mom-and-pop ice cream shoppe!

A group of 7 of us met here for ice cream yesterday, not realizing they weren’t open yet for the season. As we stood there discussing what to do instead, someone came outside and was surprised to see people in his parking lot. After we told him we didn’t realize he wouldn’t be open for business yet, he offered to turn on the machines and make something for us anyway. One machine he didn’t turn on though was the cash register, he didn’t charge us at all actually. Instead, he told us to come back once they open and leave some money in the tip jar for the people working there. That was some fantastic customer service! We will be going back many times, but when they’re actually open!

Love the texture of the krunch kote! The little eyeball candies are also a cute touch — who doesn’t love food that stares back at you?!

Great mom and pop shop. There needs to be more of these around the area. This ice cream shop is what you need when you miss home or your family. It’s a comfort spot and my oh my they definitely hit the spot. There is a variety of ice creams, sundaes, bars, slushies, and food options available!!! I had a good old fashion banana split and the soft serve was definitely delicious served with a halved banana 3 dollops of soft serve strawberries pineapples and chocolate syrup. If that’s not love I don’t know what is. Ps there is an awesome cow head you can take fun pictures with next to the ice cream shop!!!

Love their ice cream! Can get crowded during the hot summer days but the service is awesome and the ice cream choices are simply amazing. My kids love visiting and getting their cones dipped in chocolate. Great Johnston gem!

I didn’t get to experience the full effect of the shop since I only got the cookie ice cream sandwich and nothing else. You can only order and eat outdoors in front of the shop, there is no interior access for the public. The ice cream sandwich was pretty good, a little hard, but still tasty. The staff members who assisted us was very friendly and I wished I ordered something bigger to support their business. Their menu items look very tasty and I am excited to return to order a REAL ice cream item!

Great local ice cream! Came here on a whim after looking for Dairy Queen. Thought this place deserved a shot and gotta support local. This place is so dainty and cute. Reminds me of Snookies in Beaverdale, but a a little cleaner with more colors. I got the fudge brownie sundae and it was so delicious! The quality of the ice cream and homemade brownie was fantastic. I got a heaping service for not too bad of a price. The menu is large. They have a variety of options such as sundaes, cones, blitzes, shaved ice, hot food, malts, shakes, and others! I plan on trying a blitz next time since I love Blizzards from DQ. One downside is that they only take cash so be prepared!

Van Dees is a Johnston icon. Their big chipper ice cream sandwiches are awesome. My kids like the ice cream cones with eyeball candies on them. We go their frequently in the Summer. Remember they are closed during the winter.

Love this cute lil’ place. They have«Blitzes», which are like DQ Blizzards. I got the Peanut Butter«Krunch Kote» Blitz. The«Krunch Kote» is toffee-like little pieces with peanuts and sprinkles. Didn’t taste much peanut butter, but it was still good. They have hot food and lots of different ice creams and novelties — some homemade and some pre-made. My son got a pre-wrapped SpongeBob Squarepants ice cream on a stick, which he said was just okay. My dad loved his turtle sundae, and my other son also loved his twist cone(although he’s not picky about ice cream, haha). They gave us cups of water to rinse off the kids’ hands after they were done — thought that was really cool. Mostly I like that it’s a local joint and the prices are reasonable. Makes you feel like a kid again to get a treat here. :) Stop in Johnston and check it out!

I not giving them five stars because I always get inconsistent service. When the owner is there, he is very nice and caring. He puts a lot of work into his business but when no one is watching the service lacks. The actual ice cream, shakes, and treats are fab. I am always left wanting more. Everything is rich tasting. I always come here instead of DQ. They do close for the winter season. We never leave without spending at least 12 bucks for two people. A great way to end the night. Conclusion: Everything is yummy but pricey.

It was just after dinner when we decided that we needed dessert! My friend and I took a drive down to Van Dee’s just for the adventure. We went around 7:30PM and there were a lot of little kids! Van Dee’s is a very cute little Ice Cream shop that reminded me a lot of Snookies Malt Shop. It’s a small place, but has a lot of character. Their menu is very good sized and their prices are almost exact to Snookies. My friend and I shared a Large Blitz. BROWNIEBATTERBLITZ! It is probably equivalent to two smalls. We spent $ 4.85 and it was quite worth it. I like my blitz with more chunk so it’s not just soft serve to me. This seemed more like chocolate ice cream with brownie crumbles. Not chunky enough for me :(but it was still delicious. I think I want to try the Pretzel Cream Blitz next time! That sounds tasty! NOCREDITCARDS. NO(out of the country or out of the state? It’s one of the other) checks. SOOO… Just bring cash!
