Very nice atmosphere here. Just stopped in for some drinks so no comment on meals. Other than the nacho appetizer we had. Which was good, save for the waiter that came in hot like a bull in a china shop knocking drinks everywhere and almost spilling one. This is a great place for drinks. Bartender was very friendly. We all had martinis and everyone seemed to like what they ordered.

Just went there for dinner with my mom and girlfriend. We started with the sampler and calamari it took almost 25 minutes to get to the table but it all tasted good and was cooked well, for dinner we got ribs that fell off the bone and were delicious and my mom said she liked her salmon. We finished our meal with a couple of ice cream drinks, they were good! Last but not least I would like to add that our waiter was fantastic! He was super attentive and talkative, just all around great! I wouldn’t drive from Madison to eat here but If I’m in Johnson Creek again than I’ll definitely come back!

There are just no good restaurants in the Johnson Creek area, so after years of staying away from the unfortunately named Hi-way Harry’s, my husband and I decided to give them another try. The restaurant fancies itself a classy place, with indoor water falls, cozy corners, and a fancy-looking bar, but it’s just another one of those places that serves Sysco food.

Service and food absolutely horrible. My wife ordered a burger medium came out gray in the middle and about as juicy as the charcoal it resembled. My daughter ordered Alfredo which was watery and tasteless. Manager was told and didn’t seem to care and comped the entire bill as if this type of thing was common. I would suggest avoiding this place

I would only recommend this place for drinks. I’m a Johnson Creek local and have tried this place numerous times, hoping for better results. Simply put, the food is awful. It has a decent atmosphere at the bar — just stay away from the food!

Went the first time for brunch buffet, was terrible. Thought I would try it a second time as the first visit may have been a fluke, it was decent. The orange juice is horrible, would never order it again. It is an okay place to go if you don’t want to wait for seating at the Pine Cone. The omelet station is good, as are the roasts, the bbq pork. Biscuits and gravy was decent.

The inside is beautiful! The bar is great too. I had a lot of fun waiting for my reservation. The restaurant was very busy(my reservation was at 6:30 pm). Once I got seated, there was this one waitress that kept sprinting past my table… Then I received the wrong soup after they forgot about it once. It was not very hot either :(I would probably go back sometime, maybe during the day when it is not that busy.

A table of 5 ordered 2 wraps and 3 chicken pitas and our food took a whole hour. This isn’t rocket science. Our server was very nice, but you would think after apologizing for how long it was taking a gesture of 10% off or a round of drinks or something would have been offered. Even if the manager would have stopped by to apologize would have been welcomed. It seems that the kitchen was very inexperienced– bacon was so over cooked and inedible, the sweet potato fries were so undercooked that they were soggy and limp. Sad to say it was a HUGE waste of money. Run far, far away from Highway Hary’s.

Sorry Harry…2 hour wait for a salad that consisted of lettuce and 2 slices of tomato doesn’t cut it for me. Not to mention the main dishes that we got to go because we were sick of waiting… Not tasty after having to warm in the microwave :(very disappointed for the cost and no apologies or any discounts… Will not return or recommend…

Not sure why I keep trying. I keep hoping it will get better. Beautiful building and atmosphere. Good beer selection. Unfortunately I’ve had a number of disappointing meals. The prior time I had a very fatty prime rib. This time I had a beautiful tuna steak that came cold. It wasn’t just not hot; it was Cold! The only thing consistently good is the Sunday brunch. Great variety and delicious. But if you want a fine dining experience, go somewhere else.

Went there twice. The place is beautiful but the food not so good. Last time we were there was valentines 5 years ago. I had prime rib and it was gray and bland. I wish I had sent it back. The time before the food was Luke warm. You can get better food across the street at the truck stop. It’s sad because I really love the atmosphere. They need to hire a chief. Maybe things have changed but my family won’t go back.

The inside looks very nice but the service is awful and it took forever to get the mediocre good. Very disappointed.

We love HiWay’s for drinks! Sitting on the patio listening to Marley and drinking ice cold cocktails is the life. Our bartender has been keeping an eye on us and attending to our every need. If you’re looking for a real nice place to have drinks and start an evening out with some class, Hiway Harry’s is the place to go in the Johnson Creek, Jefferson, Watertown area.

Great décor; however the restaurant was freezing cold… I like cool air as much as anyone, but they could have hung beef in the dining room… I ordered the 14oz. Ribeye with mushrooms… I asked for medium rare… I received a steak that may have been 10 ounces at best, and it was only ½ inch thick… And, because of how thin it was, the steak probably passed medium rare in a few seconds… I got a well done product… It was unseasoned and had the texture of pounded meat… A tremendous disappointment, to say the least… The green beans were cooked properly, but again were bland… I had to salt and pepper everything, and I NEVER put salt or pepper on anything… Well, I guess I can’t say that anymore… The baked potato was dry. I ordered it loaded with sour cream on the side… They loaded it alright… No butter in it, a teaspoon of shredded cheddar if I am lucky, and 5 or 6 bacon bits… Oh yeah, the sour-cream? That was Hellmann’s mayonnaise… I am pretty sure they are not even the same food group… The potato was unsalted too… The only thing good was the healthy portion of Apothic Red Wine that they brought me… Perhaps that was to make me forget how bad the food was…

There was only one reason I gave 1 star and that was for the ambiance. The atmosphere gave it a 4 to 5 star restaurant feel. We went in a quarter to 6 pm and had to wait because most of the tables were reserved. That was understandable because it was close to the main dinner hour. We had a 20 min wait in the bar area where we had a drink. When we were finally seated we were there for 10 min before anyone came around. It wasn’t our waitresses, we had to ask for her to come to us and wait on us. Who really knows how long we would have had to wait, but 10 min was long enough before I said something. Since we waited long enough we order an appetizer and our dinners all at once. We already had our drinks from the bar. We also wanted to get our order in before the«big table» next to us(table of 12) and a «couple» that just sat down to the other side. Mission accomplished … so we thought. Our appetizer came out within 10 min. Then salads started to come out for the«big table». So we thought we should be next… right? Wrong. The«couple» started to get their food. The manager came by and asked them if everything was alright. He looked over at our table and walked away. The food started to come out to the«big table». The«big table» finished and boxed their food and we yet to have our food. So now we were getting very ornery and hungry. Enough was enough so I went to the manager thinking it would be better. I told the manager that we haven’t got our food. I explained all the above to him. The manager told me he would check to see what happened. Never did apologize. He came to our table and said that since we had medium steak and we’ll done burger it took longer than the other tables. I said«come on really». He still didn’t apologize and came to argue his point. My wife told me it was not worth arguing with him because it’s clear he doesn’t care what we had to say. For a manager to do that was very unprofessional. We finished our food which was very delicious. The quality of food was perfect for the price. It us just too bad the management and service was ver very disappointing.

Ambiance is big for me, so I have to give it stars for that. Stepping into Hi-Way Harry’s has the feel of martinis, Frank Sinatra and Mad Men-era classiness. The rich colors, falling water, and fireplace make it a romantic atmosphere. But that’s where it ends. As locals, we’ve been there many times and each time the operational practices and food just seem to get worse. Recent visit for lunch: Our waiter was excellent. He didn’t look much older than high school, but he was pleasant and attentive. The food delivery system, however, was awkward, which then reflected poorly on the wait staff. We happened to be seated where we could see kitchen staff bring trays stacked with covered dinners, set them on a stand in the middle of the dining area, and walk away. The dinners then sat there until someone had a chance to deliver them. Their system of clearing tables was equally in-your-face obtrusive. Dirty dishes were apparently taken to a central location, where they were left to accumulate until they filled a cart. The cart was then wheeled through the dining area to, I suppose, the kitchen. Really, I’d prefer not seeing a huge load of dirty dishes coming by while I’m eating. The food definitely needs improvement. The ingredients were nothing better than chain food and did not match the standards of the classy environment. Rusty lettuce in my salad, store-bought buns for the french dip sandwich, questionable dilutions to the sour cream… it just didn’t make the grade. For such prices and décor, I expect well-crafted quality and this just wasn’t it.

I wish I could give it no stars. This place is the absolute worst! They gave me a half of a cup of old lukewarm coffee. Wtf am I supposed to do with that? On top of that it had a ring in the cup!!! Like it had been sitting with the previous customer!!! When I mentioned it they promised to take care of it and brought me another half cup!!! WTF… We ordered the pan fried walleye and I had mash and mixed veg both ice cold my wife had baked potato and veg cold too… We asked for the usual toppings butter, sour cream, brought sour cream but guess what the chick brought us mayo!!! Is this some sick joke? We should have left with the cold coffee but we were so hungry from shopping we thought that was the only thing around until… we looked under the bridge, so sad, so sad. We will not be returning.

Highway Harry’s, a «unique casual dining» experience. That is what their sign says and it’s definitely true. Stopped in after shopping nearby because I had never been and wanted something new. The sign intrigued me, «unique casual dining». We stepped inside and were just blown away. It was like stepping back in time to the older fancier fine dining steak houses. Dark lighting with rich colors. High back circle booth made for two. Wait staff dressed like you are in a higher class dining place. I was impressed by the ambiance for sure, but that is about all unfortunately. The menu is small with not many selections. I decided to try something different, I was feeling adventurous so I ordered something I would not normally order out.(Bacon wrapped pork tenderloins) My husband got the special for the day(Parmesan crusted fish with pink peppercorn risotto) The pork was ok but I have to say I’ve had better at home and that is not saying much about that dish then. My husband’s fish was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like the fish was coated in cheese, took a frying pan and sprayed it with cooking spray and that is how it was cooked. The cheese coating was burnt and the whole thing tasted horrible. It wasn’t worth sending back since we already knew we would never be back so he scraped off the coating and tried to eat it. I gave him some of my pork and potato so at least he could eat something. It was definitely a «unique casual dining» experience. Fine dining look and prices with low quality food. I think I would rather hit one of the fast food places around if in the area again.

I have recently moved to the area and have admittedly only visited this place once. The waiter we had was very friendly and useful in the process of ordering dinner. My wife and I both ordered pasta. I was informed that the dish I initially wanted to order had sugar added to the sauce, I am not a fan of sugar in my pasta sauce and therefore was very happy to have that knowledge. The waiter recommended an alternate pasta dish which turned out to be quite good. My wife was very happy with her shrimp pasta dish as well. The atmosphere was very pleasant and actually surprising. It is quiet and dimly lit which gives the place a romantic feel. I personally did not think the place was expensive and was pleasantly surprised by the place and my experience. I hope to go back and their rating may very well go up a star if they continue to please.
