I really love Masterpiece Mixers! I’ve been two times and each time was a blast! I love that they send out coupons via email and they occasionally will have a Groupon or Living Social deal. My only complaint is that their website calendar is not viewable from a phone. The process of picking a date/painting, paying, and then the day of painting are all so smooth. Anyone can paint and create a stunning piece of artwork. They walk you through every step and by the time you’re done, you’ll be amazed at how awesome you are! I love that they allow you to bring in food and drinks. We usually have some wine, cheese, and crackers to enjoy while painting. They do couples paintings and they do paintings for kids! It’d be a great place for a birthday party!

I bought my mom a Groupon here, so we used it recently before it expired. We had called several weeks ahead and booked our appointment(we had to change it from a date we had already booked online), but when we arrived on the day of the appointment we were not on the list. We were able to sign in with no problem, but it was still frustrating. We arrived over 20 minutes before the session started, and as the first ones there were told we could sit wherever we liked. Nonetheless, because«three other large groups» were coming in, we were asked to move not once, but two times. The session was supposed to run from 7:00 — 9:00, but we did not even get started until 7:45 because the large groups were getting checked in as only a few people from each part arrived on time. After the artist finally began, she would show us one step, and then go sit at the computer or on her cellphone for over 20 minutes for each step. At other places I have been, to the artist would come around and offer advice, but this lady did not seem that interested. Many people were pulling up the image we were painting on their phones and trying to paint it the best they could because they were tired of waiting. Several people were finished early and left because they had other obligations. It was almost 9:30 when my mother and I began to leave, and the artist asked if we could wait around longer to «take a picture with the group» We did not oblige her. I would not go to this location of Masterpiece Mixers again. The artist seemed like she hated being there, and if you’re not part of a large group you might as well expect to be ignored.

Masterpiece Mixers sometimes offers Groupons and I have always gone to a painting class armed with one. Definitely take advantage when they have one. Signing up for a class is very easy online and they usually have some nice choices when it comes to choosing a painting class to attend. I attended a class at the Johns Creek location with my co-workers as a sort of holiday outing. We ended up picking a class with an abstract painting, which looked great online but I didn’t know how it was going to go. My previous two classes at Masterpiece Mixers always involved an «easy» painting involving trees or something. While our instructor was nice enough, I don’t think she was very good at explaining how to do certain things. I assume part of it was the fact that the painting was so abstract. It would be a little different story if we were painting something specific, like a flower or an animal. Anyway, our paintings by the end of the class looked utterly different from each other and a mixed bag. It was pretty funny. At the end of it, we still had fun, but I have decided that there will be no more abstracts when it comes to painting classes. Give me a tree or two to paint and I will be happy.

This was my first experience with one of these drinking/painting things and I really enjoyed it! A few of my girls and I got this deal through Groupon. $ 12 for 2.5 hours of painting and sipping on wine BYOB. The place is located in the same shopping plaza as Palomilla’s. When you turn into the shopping plaza, it’s on the right side. It’s a cute little shop that can fit about 15 – 20 people. This would be a great thing to do for a girl’s night or just a fun get together. Our instructor was Ann and she is pretty awesome! She’s really good at making it fun and helping you out if you need any additional assistance. Tip: Make sure you bring your own wine glasses :)

This was my first painting experience and I had so much fun. I bought a groupon(or living social??) and got a great discount. I will for sure go back(and pay full price) and this time I will bring friends. The step by step instructions were easy to follow. There was a variety of experience levels here and it was fun to walk around to see everyone’s interpretation of our painting. I even«borrowed» some of the better painters ideas to make mine look a bit better. Bringing your own beverages and snack was also nice as there was time in between each section for drying and slower painters. I had a ton of fun getting to know my neighbors and can’t wait to begin my next masterpiece!

My friend and I came for cocktails and canvases on a groupon deal and we had a blast! Robin was super nice(even though we were 20 minutes late because we got lost driving here — blast you old-school GPS) and very helpful throughout the painting process with detailed instructions. It’s BYO drinks and snacks, and you are given the paint, canvas, and smock to protect your clothes(they also provide plastic cups for drinking and wine bottle openers). The painting instructions got more detailed as the evening went on(or I felt the effects of the drinks more) but Robin was super nice about explaining and re-explaining to us when we got behind. It was a very small group(4 people total) but the location def is set up to handle more people. Also — bravo on the playlist!

My third time for cocktails and canvas, but my first time at this location, WOW, it’s so much better than Brookhaven! No offense to anyone, but the parking is much easier, the place isn’t as crowded, which lends to a more intimate atmosphere, and when I say intimate, I don’t mean romantic, just more friendly since it’s a smaller group. Great instructor, Robin, leads you through all the steps of making your masterpiece!

My second time attending Cocktails and Canvas(Creatively Yours???). I’m pretty sure this place is formally known as Cocktails and Canvas. I liked our instructor, Robin — super nice. And getting to bring our own brews/wine(they even provide plastic wine glasses) is a nice touch. Painting wise, I can’t say the direction was as solid as the other location off Dresden(Atlanta). My painting was a disaster(too much brews?). I even noticed that before the whole 3 hours were up, people were already leaving because they had finished with their painting. The instructor wasn’t even done, how could others be? I also noticed the instructor’s painting wasn’t a replica of the«model painting» we were following. At the other location, after the instructor(Taryn) was finished her art piece looked nearly identical to the the example shown. Still, I’m definitely going to give it another try and have another«feel» for this place because it is right around the corner. And Robin was just so sweet.
