Good prices and a variety of things to choose from. We bought a couple of colored vintage vases as gifts for my sister-in-law and a set of 10 wine glasses to replace the less-than-full set we have. Then… I browsed the book collection. I didn’t want to spend more at the moment but I am definitely coming back for the books. I had a very pleasant conversation with Ernie which I could have continued for hours if I didn’t have to head back to the jungle of Philadelphia.

Various antiques and lots of books. I hit jackpot with the cook books. It’s all serendipity what you find. I found all kinds of interesting cook books that are out of print and off the beaten track. The owners are really nice as well.

As a former coalcracker from up on the Hill, this place comes off as overpriced and for the out-of-town crowd. Listening to the clerk with the headgear on spouting on about beads like ‘jasper’ and ‘cats eye’ being«rare» kind of made me feel like the visitors he was talking to were being hustled. The little bit I know about beads, all this stuff is grossly overpriced. Maybe if you dig around you can find a good deal, but I’m not sure I’d waste my time. The 2nd hand stuff in here is mostly americana crap that is broken, dirty, dingy, or overly worn. Though it looked like there might be some ok books — just didn’t have time to go through them, you might find something ok in those rooms. For original and interesting americana bits I’d check out MJ Repperts off of Broadway, there are also come good shops along broadway that have some great buys and real antique dishware, items, and bits at good prices. Oyster plates for $ 12? Bavarian china 15 plate set for $ 25?! Much better deals at the shops on Broadway.

Serendipity is a cute, very small antique shop in Jim Thorpe. I found prices to be very reasonable. They carry quite a few small glassware items and several vintage linens. Check it out!
