Laila did a splendid job with my haircut. She was very attentive and made sure I got the exact length I wanted. She was also kind enough to share some tips with me.

Leyla is amazing! My first visit with her I asked for a black and purple ombré. She worked her magic and it looked amazing. She was super patient with my hair, and didn’t mind getting her hands a little purple as well. I went back to Leyla for a trim, and my hair has never looked so healthy and nice! The environment is very laid back, and everyone is very very friendly.

A fantastic place to get a reasonably priced haircut in the NYC metro area.
I have gotten haircuts from Leyla for a couple of years now, and usually go in when my hair is a total mess and has gone WAY too long with out structuring of any kind (I am female with hair currently past my shoulders). I’ve brought in photographs, asked for adjustments while cutting, etc, and she is very efficient and accommodating. She also has never pressured me to buy hair products or to color it, which I really appreciate, without my first expressing interest.

I came here in October, for just color, no cut since I had just gotten it cut in August (at a different salon). Leyla colored my hair and did a great job giving me the red color I wanted. It was red already to begin with, but we all know how quickly red fades in general, so she definitely spruced it back up and gave me an amazing wash and blow-​out which lasted 4 days!

During the service, three Philippines stuffs and a stupid American customer kept saying that China is bullying Philippines? What the f**k?!
China had never invaded Philippines! It was USA who occupied Philippines for half a century! Ok?!!

Excellent!!! So glad my husband found Rickie’s Hair and Beauty Salon on Unilocal,and the reviews were good and looked promising. I’ve been looking for a salon that does rebonding in my area but no luck. Even though it was a 3hr drive, I decided to give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed. Archie did an amazing job. My husband found this downtown Jersey City gem about two years ago and he’s been going here since. His stylist, Vince, gets it whenever my husband explains a certain look. And Vince delivers well! About less than a year ago, I decided to give them a try and I was not disappointed! My family, friends and co-​workers loved my highlights, color and cut. The highlights have lightened naturally and beautifully after a few months and my hair still looks great. I came back for some root touch-​up and Vince did some highlights on them also to match the rest of my hair. I love it! Both my husband and I keep coming back to see Vince! Everyone here is really friendly and they all have their own sets of satisfied clients.

Rickie’s is a real neighborhood gem. They are cordial, professional and give a great cut. I’ve been coming to Rickie’s for over a year and of the salons I’ve been to in Jersey City they are a cut above.

I went here for a haircut recently and Leyla did a fantastic job. I was looking for a new salon for a haircut that I was going to try for the first time, so I was a little skeptical on trying a new salon. But I read the reviews of Rickie’s Hair and Beauty Salon on Unilocal and thought I should give it a try. And I am not disappointed.
I would definitely go there again. I have also recommended it to a couple of my friends already!

Super friendly staff and the cut was excellent. I just moved to Jersey City, so I’m happy to have found this place.

Good hair cuts with scissor. They do it very patiently and take your opinion. My bf gets all his haircuts here.

Leyla was fantastic when it came to my hair cut. I waited a few days to write this to make sure that the cut she gave me worked with my curly hair and it did. I went in and was worried when I did not get a consultation on my dry hair but after a quick conversation after the washing she got to work and I was in and out in less than 45. She gave me a blow out which made my hair straight and smooth but I was worried that when curly it would be not what I wanted. After washing and diffusing my hair today it turned out exactly like I wanted. I also liked that I did not pay an arm and a leg for a simple cut and dry. I was also able to walk in and waited less than 10 minutes. Thanks!

I’m a nomad when it comes to getting my haircut. I don’t have one salon or hairstylist that I keep going back to mainly because I’ve never been so satisfied with my haircut that I want to keep going back. Also, I’m having a hard time justifying going to a very expensive salon especially when all I really ever ask for is just layers and side bangs. So I’ve had many many misses and haircuts I wasn’t happy with. And I approach every salon I go to with little hope of leaving happy with my haircut.
The good news is that I think I’ve found the hair salon I will keep going back to! I had Lela and I am so happy with my haircut. She was quick, did a really good job with the layers, and cut the bangs at a good length. All I said was «I want to keep the length but add layers and side bangs» and I got exactly what I wanted and I felt good about it! I didn’t get a blow out but she made it look nice even with a simple blow dry. AND. I didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg.
I’m happy that I’ve finally found a place I will be a regular at!

I’ve been going to Rickie’s since I moved to Jersey City 1.5 years ago. I love this place and especially Vincent. He is great, he always does such a wonderful job with my hair. I usually do blond highlights and it’s hard to find someone who can do it right so it looks natural. Vincent does for me and I am so glad I found him. Highly recommend.

Came here for the first time a year and a half ago, and since then haven’t gone anywhere else. I usually ask for Vince, who is outstanding. He’s an expert at cutting men’s curly hair; uncommon to find someone with that talent. The haircut he gives is as good as anything you’d get in an upscale salon in Manhattan, for ¼ the price ($ 25 plus tip).

I have been searching for hair salons that do rebonding (japanese hair straightening). It’s very popular in the Philippines and I would like to jave the same treatment here but everytime I call hair salons, it is either they dont do have the service or don’t know the treatment. Good thing I found this little treasure in jersey city. I so love my new hair. will surely recommend this salon to my friends

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Layla, and she always does a wonderful job. She always listens to what I want and can make suggestions when I need it.
My boyfriend is much pickier than me since his hair grows weird (cowlicks). He totally trusts Ricky to cut his hair, which is saying a lot!

I’ve been coming to Rickie’s for about 2 years. My wife was sick of people ruining my hair at places like Great Clips, Great Cuts, Cuts for less etc…
I finally found Rickie’s on Unilocal,and the reviews looked promising. I made an appointment, and Layla cut my hair. Since, I have not allowed anyone else to touch my hair.
The prices are very reasonable, the place is clean, and I always make an appointment last minute… However, they always squeeze me in.
Layla also gives my scalp a massage, as well as my shoulders once I’m done, this plus a shampoo and cut, for $ 25… AMAZING!!!

Went here as a result of the reviews on Unilocal.I’m a fan.
I walked in without an appointment and someone promptly shampooed my hair. This wasn’t just a shampoo though, it was a legit head message while receiving a shampoo.
Next, a guy named Vince asked me the usual «So what are we doing today?» And after I showed him a picture on my phone of what I wanted, he went right to work. He took his time and really did an excellent job.
Cons:
1) Pricey– For a guys haircut, it was $ 25 + tip. That’s a little more than what im used to paying for a guy’s haircut.
Other than that, it’s a good place to go. I’ll definitely be back.
