Pizza is perfect. Thin and made with fine ingredients. The place is nice and the servers are helpful and polite. Unfortunately the price for what you get kills this place for me. At the end of the day it’s still pizza. $ 15 to $ 20 for a personal sized pizza is excessive.

We’ve been trying several places around Jersey City. Razza is one of the first on our list but was saving it. It has all the characteristics for an awesome restaurant. Good location, decoration, service and reviews. But the food: disappointing. We were early so there wasn’t a wait. It was smaller than it looks from the outside. Oven in the back. Hostess and servers were efficient and friendly. We ordered one pizza from the menu and the other from the specials. It seems like it took a while to make but we didn’t mind waiting for good food. Then why the disappointment? What makes a pizza is the crust. If it’s thick, thin, buttery or dollar-slice quality. Here it was dollar-slice. It was tough, bland and rubbery. I was expecting a thin buttery crust. The ingredients were fresh and combinations interesting. But it wasn’t the full experience we were expecting and had in other similar places. We’ll maybe give Razza a place in the future. We like giving places a second chance. Right now, pass.

The bread and butter is what I started my meal off with, mostly because of the favorable Unilocal reviews! The home-churned butter was salted and insanely tasty! I loved every bit and made sure to devour each last bite of it. The bread, which is homemade too, was tangy and warm. The flavor of the white spongey part was nice, but the crust was overly crisp and imparted a burnt flavor. Following this appetizer, my table had the negroni and the black & stormy cocktails. The bartender was apparently in training so the drinks took longer than expected, and the negroni was too bitter — even for someone who loves negronis! However, our waiter was kind enough to swap the negroni for a more palatable cocktail and didn’t charge for the negroni at all. It was a nice touch :-) after this, we shared the hazelnut pizza and the margherita pizza. The margherita was pretty standard, but far from ordinary. The crust was crisp but not burnt, and the sauce was salty and sweet at the same time! The chefs were generous with the basil and the melted mozzarella was delightful. The hazelnut pizza was very different for me! I enjoyed the unique dish and recipe — one I have never tried. I love that the hazelnuts are sourced from state university. They were toasted and had that perfect«nutty» flavor. This, combined with the honey and ricotta was delicious and savory. I highly recommend visiting Razza. It is the best gourmet pizza I’ve had in NJ. I will definitely be a regular. Thanks again.

My friend’s boyfriend suggested that this place is great and if there’s a line it’s worth the wait. We waited for at least 20 minutes(for a group of 6) eventhough we were told that the estimate might be close to an hour. Pizza was the best. I’ve eaten in a few around my neighborhood but this place is worth coming to. We ordered for Appetizers: Bread and butter, Ricotta Crostini and Meatballs. Then for pizza we orders: Bosco, Panna, Project Hazelnut and Maple Bacon… Really appreciated to the person who was taking our orders because she noticed how I loved there sauce for the meatballs and I was dipping my pizza bone(or «ends») to really enjoy and finish every slice of pizza(I seldom eat the ends) Thank you and we certainly enjoy the food. For sure we’re coming back soon.

Meh. A lot of hype surrounding this place so had to check it out. I love the fact that they make everything in house(even their bread and butter) but I couldn’t wrap my head around their pizza. When you order for dine-in they are personal-sized, but most of the pizza is crust. and being wood-fired — its burnt crust. The flavors of the pizza itself are great, but I would like more of the pizza and less of the burnt crust.

In an area full of pizza choices, this is the worst. $ 18 for a personal pie that’s not even mind blowing? Next. Came here with my boyfriend and everything was burnt. I’ve been to other great brick oven pizzerias and brick oven is not the code word for burnt. The infamous bread and butter was sub par… oh and burnt. Our pizza had more arugula than actual cheese and they had run out of dessert except for one and it was not worth $ 9. $ 9 for a spoonful of chocolate icing, slap of whipped cream and 2 black cherries, pretty ridic. The only thing nice about this place is the venue. It surprises me that people are actually giving this place 5 stars, makes me question how they think pizza should be. I really wanted to love this place but if you’re actually going for pizza, search elsewhere.

I’ve been wanting to come here for ages, but finally got my lazy butt over. At first, I tried to go for lunch but found out they only opened for dinner. Super depressing but this made me more determined to go. I ended up going on a Friday night around 7:30pm. The host said the wait was an hour for 2 people, but we only waited 40 min. The restaurant is deceptively small and I didn’t expect the wait would be that long for a restaurant in Jersey City. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and two pizzas. Polpette al forno(fire roasted meatballs) — The meatball itself was dry, but the flavorful sauce and copious amounts of Parmesan on top made up for it. Cinghiale(wild boar sausage and kale) pizza — The wild board sausage looks like pepperoni but has a more intense flavor. It actually overwhelmed all other flavors of the pizza. Project Hazelnut(fresh mozzarella, RU hazelnuts, ricotta, local honey) — I loved this pizza. It was the main reason why I really wanted to come here. The crunch of hazelnuts was a perfect combo with the ricotta. The honey added some sweetness, but not too much. The first bite was disconcerting because of the sweetness, but got used to it. Definitely liked this pizza better than wild boar. In addition to the delicious food. the waiter was so courteous and nice. He made sure we had everything: water, clean plates, etc. The waiter made this place 5 stars for me. Really wish I tried this place earlier.

One of my fav places in JC. Razza is a farm to table wood burning oven pizzeria restaurant. An old movie theater was lovingly converted into a moody, sexy date nite pizza place. Love that the farm salad and market plate change according to what’s fresh that week. Can I tell you I am addicted to seeing what comes on the market plate plus the homemade burrata.. . I get it every single time I come here. It goes without saying the bread and butter here are fantastic and unique. Butter is creamy dreamy homemade and«special» made with PA grass fed cow milk. The bread is also made in house with a local wheat. The attention and treatment of local ingredients in their preparation is obvious. Boards hang around the restaurant with stories about the hazelnuts and butter. Staff can tell you where everything you are eating comes from. Pizza with a super crisp crust — I would say a pie can feed 2 people plus a salad or another app. Try them all if you can, or just get the Farm pizza, the of the moment offering. Margarita pizza is full of tomato, basil and mozzarella goodness if you want an unfettered pie. Also: Lots of artesianal cocktails here that pack mega flavor and a boozy punch. Personal rec is the Manhattan. Save room for dessert, the panna cotta is both silky and creamy covered in a layer of chewy caramel sprinkled with sea salt. The budino is very chocolatey, rich and decadent. Amarena cherries and fluffy clouds of whipped cream are nestled amongst the chocolate, which is richer than a mousse but not as thick as a ganache. Razza is a JC must have. Bonus: outdoor seating in the warmer months.

So good! We had a few appetizers and a few pizzas to share, and everything was delicious. The service was great(we had Ryan) and he was super helpful with our orders, VERY patient with our questions, and all-around friendly and pleasant. The atmosphere inside is really nice — kind of a rustic meets modern. The only part that wasn’t ideal is the set-up for getting a table. They do not take reservations, and there is no where to stand while you wait(which they are unapologetic about). yet somehow they still find it appropriate to make you feel nervous about waiting next store.

In my opinion, the best pizza place we have in JC right now. Razza is well into the«artisan» end of the pizza spectrum, and the prices reflect that. Expect to pay $ 15 – 20 for a pizza that feeds maybe 1 – 1.5 people. But these little artisan pizzas that come out? Absolutely worth it. Had two pizzas when I went last: one with cremini, mozz, parmigiano reggiano, and truffle oil, and the second with tomato, mozz, sausage, shaved onion, and chili oil. Both were fantastic — delicious, cheesy delivery vessels for excellently matched ingredients. Again, these are small pizzas, and I really wish the portion size was just a bit bigger. Like everyone else will tell you, absolutely get the bread and butter when you go. It costs $ 4, but who cares, it’s bomb. Meatballs are excellent as well. Unfortunately they don’t take reservations, so be prepared for a bit of a wait on weekends. This one is worth it, though.

Um, how could I have eaten their ENTIRE menu and don’t have written a review? Shame on me. Anyways, this place is amazing and everything we’ve had here has been just so fresh and delicious. They use a lot of locally sourced produce and bake their own bread and churn their own butter. So every time we eat here, not only are our mouths happy but our conscious is happy as well… and for that, I am more than happy to pay their price for food(yes, it’s high, but that’s what you pay for quality and passion). Additionally, because their ingredients are so fresh, you actually feel GOOD(dare I say healthy?) when you eat pizza here. When you come, here are just SOME of the many must orders: –Bread & butter(yes, I know it’s weird to pay for bread and butter but trust me, it’s worth it. the bread is crusty on the outside and incredibly tender and chewy/doughy on the inside and the freshly churned butter has no comparison). –Seasonal salads are always amazing(latest one we had was the farmer’s salad with burrata, radishes, arugula, watermelon radish and potatoes). –Although we’ve tried all their pizzas, our favorites are the margahrita, baby bella, maple bacon, santo and panna. –Meatballs are always delicious and the sauce they come swimming in is perfect for dipping pizza crust! So RUN, don’t walk to Razza and enjoy some of the best pizza around!!!

I would highly recommend Razza if you want good quality of food. I have been waiting for so many years to try their food, finally got a chance recently! We ordered the famous bread n butter, ceci and special pizza of the day Margherita with garlic. Try the ginger beer, its refreshing. Everything was delicious. We had really great time. I love their décor and seating arrangement. It was fantastic.

This is my go to place in Jersey city for the classic wood fired. They use only the best and mostly local ingredients for their salads and cheese. They have a few selected wine and beers, but all solid depending on your taste. I start with their olive oil tasting and the ricotta crostini. The classic margherita pizza and white pizza or their daily/seasonal special is what I go for. The specials with eggs or squash are the ones I have tried and must say are very flavorful. Just make sure you have a personal pie and you will go back happy after your meal !

First meal in Jersey City. The Farmer’s salad was out of the world. It was incredibly fresh! Burata cheese was creamy, soft, and rich. It was the perfect compliment to local ingredients — an homage to freshness. Pizza on the other hand is lack-luster. Perhaps I was spoiled from traditional Italian pizza, the margherita pizza was average. On paper tomato sauce, handmade fresh mozzarella, basil, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil sounds phenomenal. In reality, the bottom was a little too soft(soggy) for my liking. I have had better, a lot better. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. The ambiance was delightful — live music, dim lighting, rich history. Fun Fact: Razza Pizza used to be a theater, Majestic Theatre. The Majestic Theatre was opened September 16, 1907 by the Klein Amusement Company. Over the century, the building transformed into a factory, a warehouse and a church, currently Razza Pizza!

I love this place. Pizza here is amazing, I mean AMAZING! It completely change my perception about pizza(probably because I ate too many crappy pizzas in college). I have ordered different items every time I eat here, and food came out awesome every single time. The thing that makes pizza at this place so special is its thin crust, it is crunchy & fresh. My husband even eat up the whole crust of the pizza(I have never seen him eating pizza without leaving some crust behind before). My favorite items on the menu are mushroom and panna pizza. And by the way, the pizza is pretty small so dont expect to share it with anyone.

Razza has been on my must-try list since the big move to JC. Last night, my friend took me here for my birthday and it’s safe to say that I’ll be returning again and again. They’ve got a fairly similar menu to Porta, just no pasta dishes(think bougie thin crust ‘za and shareable salads and apps) along with a bevy of creative cocktail options. It’s also a much quieter and more intimate scene, so if you are craving this sort of meal but don’t want the hustle and bustle of Porta then Razza is a solid pick. We started off with gin coolers which were light and refreshing and had a mix of muddled lemon and cilantro with honey. And the second that the delicious and refreshing drink ran out… we promptly ordered another. For the main event we decided to split a ricotta crostini, a kale salad and the santo pizza. They asked if we wanted our food brought out ‘as ready’ and strangely enough, the pizza ended up being ready before the salad. I guess that makes sense, considering how much pizza they churn out here. Okay so back to the food. Each item deserves it’s own special shout. Ricotta Crostini– A large crunchy piece of toast, cut into halves and smothered with rich and creamy ricotta goodness. There was a drizzle of honey on top which really contributed towards the intense flavor. This, I would order again on any trip back. Kale Salad– This was just okay. I normally eat kale cooked instead of raw, and the raw pieces were a bit tough and chewy to get through. However, smother anything in parm cheese and caesar dressing and call me a fan. I still devoured it. Santo Pizza– Sausage, mozz, caramelized onions and chile oil. I was a little nervous that the chile oil would be to spicy, but it actually added a nice kick. The caramelized onions could have been more spread out, they were just clumped in different sections. The sausage and cheese were the star of the show and were spread out generously throughout the entire pizza. Next time I come in, it will be hard to pass up the ricotta toast, but I’ll definitely have to try out a new pizza and salad. Can’t wait!

We love our bread, we love our butter, but most of all, we love each other. Is this a Jersey thing? What the HELL are y’all talking about? Ok, so the bread is served on a cool looking slate. Its a smear of butter and a couple of hunks of bread. It’s not a great stretch, the bread was ok. My waitress talked me into it, I wanted to try the meatballs. Next time. Lets talk about the pizza! I ordered the«Baby Bella», Fresh Mozzarella, Cremini mushrooms and topped with truffle oil all made in a wood burning stove. Man. This Jersey pizza was outta site. Amazing flavors, its something that everyone should experience. Now that I’m in a carb coma, my waitress comes over and asks if I would like dessert. I was about to say no but then she tells me their special, Salted Caramel Panna Cotta. This dessert was delish but a little on the expensive side. $ 9 bucks is kinda steep(But so worth it) The seating isn’t very large at Razza Pizza Artigianale so be prepared to wait. Is it worth it? Totally
