Let me start by saying I lived in Jamaica for 3 years, my godson is Jamaican. I know Jamaican food very well. Let’s start with the jerk wings I ordered they were so over cooked I couldn’t tell the bone from the meat. The flavor was good but it was seriously as tough as shoe leather. Next the Ackee and codfish. The cod was extremely salty and the dish had no flavor at all and the serving was a joke! Braised oxtail. This dish could not have been braised for more than an hour the meat was tough and the fat had not melted off yet, once again flavors weren’t bad The patties, the filings were good the pastry was to thick. Then there was the coconut water I ordered it was frozen solid I couldn’t drink it for hours Overall one the worst Jamaican meals I have ever had. I wouldn’t go back if the food was free!!!

I wish I could give no stars! I only come here to satisfy my need for oxtails. That is okay but I cannot speak to the other food. However there customer service is terrible. I have always felt this way so I always try to be quick and easy when I go there. In and out so I don’t have to deal with it. There is a light skin guy in there who is probably the worst. My receipt said Jayvion on it so stay clear because he has no manners at all. When I went there yesterday and tried to use my card which, I use all the time it asked me to give my pin number. I asked the cashier how I could pick credit. He said you put in debt. I said no it asked me to insert my card if I have a chip. I did so and it requested my pin and there no credit button. He just insisted I had to put it in he said it was because of my card and that is how it worked. He continued to repeat himself with all the attitude in the world. I have to say 2 other young men were there and they did try diffuse the situation by explaining that bank cards with chips had to be used as debt. However, I always use my bank card as credit. I never give out my pin like ever! They have one of those cheaper machines not your ordinary credit machine. But the cashier kept on with it was because of my card and I needed to put in the pin. At the end of the day it is their machine and they need to call the vendor and ask them how they can change the options because it should be the customer’s decision chip or no chip whether they give out there personal pin!!!

The food is OK, but the service is terrible. Everyone has an attitude and they want to up charge you for everything! I went in last night, because I didn’t feel like cooking and I ordered roti and curry. To my surprise, I was charged more because I wanted my roti and curry separated. This is honestly the dumbest thing I’v ever herd of and for that I will not be returning.

I have went to this restaurant a couple of times. The food is inconsistent every time. Sometime they put too much curry on the ckicken and for the oxtail sometimes there is so much fat on it there is no meat left.

Decent Food for a chain restaurant. Great friendly Staff, Clean and very comfortable location. Reasonably priced food Located in the heart of Journal Square about 2 minute walk from the path train, great place to pick up dinner of just a patty to snack on.

I love the patties. I don’t know what people are talking about when they say«dry» but the patties are made to perfection. Not sure about the other food, but I don’t go there for that. It’s all about the patties for me. Oh, and the girls that work there are always very nice!

I tried eating lunch here today. I’ve been wanting to try this place. And I did, big mistake! I think this is the worst place I’ve tried ever. It’s a waste of your time and money. Really terrible.

I use to order takeout from this place all the time. I sent my husband to get oxtails one day and was served bones with gravy. When I called to express my dislike the lady was rude and quite nasty. I asked for the mngr whose name I will not post. But long story short he wasn’t in. I left my name and number. He never ever returned my call. I called several times over a series of days. If the mngr/owner does not feel a concerned customer is important enough to return a call to then I don’t feel my $ should be spent here. I refuse to spend $ 32 on rice bones and gravy. Shame on you!!!

The food it OK but I am rating them so high because they were EXTREMELY helpful to me in a pinch. I promised a friend that I would get a black cake for his birthday and forgot. I called around everywhere and not to my surprise could anyone sell me a cake that day. They were the only one to have one in stock and sold it to me. Thank you, thank you! They loved it!

I ate lunch here on a Sunday, around noon. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and beans. The food was fairly tasty and the portion size was reasonable. What bothered me is that when I asked for a cup so I could get some water, I was told by the cashier“we don’t give courtesy cups”. I know some people think it’s cheap not to buy a beverage, but I myself cannot drink anything sugary or carbonated and I just wanted a cup of water, even tap water would be fine, but I was refused. Also their bathroom had a sign on it «out of order» yet I saw an employee going in and out. Although I liked the food I won’t go back to a place that won’t give you a cup of water when you order a $ 9.00 plate of food or have bathroom facilities to wash my hands before or after I eat. I’ve been to Golden Krust locations before around NYC and I was always given a cup of water and they had working bathrooms. I won’t be returning to the Jersey City location for these reasons.

Caribbean place dishing out decent food. Pros: The spicy beef patty is a must-try while the chicken patties are not very exciting. They always have incredibly affordable lunch specials during weekdays which includes chicken curry/stew, rice and peas and veggies. The chicken is usually buttery and fall-off-the-bone tender. Cons For those of us who are used to having dipping sauces with most everything, the patties may be a tad dry since it comes with no such sauce. Most of the food seems to be pre-made and heated up on ordering. The service is not very friendly. In spite of that, I stop here every time i am in the area coz those beef patties call out to me!

Decent Golden Krust, the service was fast and I love to see a patty shop that has all their varieties in stock. Have not had a full meal from them yet, will update my review once I do.

Okay, so 5 stars maybe a lot for a golden krust! But I love this place, the lady behind the register is always courteous, the man who fixes the food(I think he owns the place) is courteous as well. The food, well the food is great! I love love love their oxtail with rice and peas so tasty! I have also tried their beef patties and curry goat and that was good too! This is one of my favorite places for quick take out! Great customer service, great food, always given my food with a smile and sometimes a joke… what more can I ask for! Try this place if you have not already!!!

YUM! Spicy beef patty? Yes pleaseee. Super yummy and delicious! Chicken patty — meh. It looked like an albino patty, but it was ok. Coco bread? Eh. Could do without. This place is super cheap, but the food is pretty good. I’d go back and I love that it’s within walking distance to me! $ 5 credit card min.

Can’t complain… came in for some impromptu beef patties… …they were good. And best of all? Bigger than my lungs. Actually…best of all??? They put a hole in my wallet smaller than my larynx. That’s pretty small.

I instantly fell in love with Golden Krust’s patties the first time I had them in their downtown NYC locations. I’ve only had their Mild Beef and Chicken patties but they are delicious. The fillings are flavorful and their pastry crust is so flaky and buttery. This location is right by Journal Square in a strip of stores. Parking is very hard to find. When my bf and I decided to make a quick beef patty run, we just parked right outside the store in the tow-away zone but luckily we were in and out of there quick. There’s about 5 or 6 tables if you decide to eat in but I imagine this location being more of a take-out place. The staff was friendly. Now onto the patties, we ordered one Mild Beef and one Chicken. The Mild Beef was great, but the Chicken one was not so much. The Chicken patty seemed like it was old and had been sitting out for a while. Some parts of the crust were hard and the filling, although warm, you could tell it wasn’t fresh. Still love Golden Krust’s patties. I just hope I get a fresher one next time!
