They are never open during their times listed. Phone is also never answered and this restaurant should be shut down if they dont want business. The one day if we catch their doors open until 10:00pm, the kitchen has been closed since 9! Whats the use? Doors always closed, no one answers the phone for days and they are clearly not fit to be a striving business in jersey. R.K 803−622−3830

I have come to this blue moon quite a few times, and honestly I have always had a great experience. The food is delicious. I have not however tired everything on the menu but what I have ate I have loved! It is unfortunate on how many bad reviews this location has. I live close and never come when it is really busy, I also never ordered there food for take out. What I love from there menu. Chicken empanadas Quesadilla the one with bacon and chicken Chicken sandwich(love there French fries) Burrito treo.

This place is awful. As in, «I am hoping it will go out of business b/c anything else there is better» awful. We went there for dinner and were not impressed. The food was way processed(the ground meat was definitely not just meat), low quality ingredients, super greasy, and not flavorful. With amazing Mexican places around, like Orale(expensive) and Taqueria Downtown(cheap), there just is no reason to ever come here.

One star for the chips and salsa. No mas. I was glad to see that they had moved into a larger building but the food and service is just so disappointing. The atmosphere is loud and the service is so slow. The hostess will sit you but good luck finding your waiter in under 10 minutes. From there, it just gets worse. Like I said, the chips and salsa are the highlight. However the chips can sometimes be hard and obviously just sitting out. The food comes lukewarm/cold and is very overpriced for the quality. Very disappointing after the long wait for the food. I grew up in Southern California so I am most familiar with great Mexican/Tex-Mex cuisine. Blue Moon is just a sad attempt at this. I’ve tried ordering traditional, getting TWO small and under filled tacos with some meager beans and rice for upwards of 14 dollars. Tacos were okay at best, but when I order tacos from a restaurant that claims itself as a «Mexican Café,» I expect at least 3 hardy tacos(for that kind of price) filled with meat and fresh cilantro and onion alongside piping hot beans and rice. Unfortunately, Blue Moon does not and still has not met any kind of expectations. Try Taqueria Los Gueros down the street for some great, traditional al pastor street tacos! Yes, the burritos are big and probably the best deal you can get for the money, but those big tortillas are just masquerading the mediocre fillings. I say cut down the menu and focus on some good, Mexican classics packed with flavor and served FRESH for once! I will never come back here nor recommend this place for anyone looking for an actual Mexican restaurant.

I came here because I’ve tried the location in Bronxville and hoped this would be up to par. Unfortunately like most of the Jersey City Mexican food scene, this place was pretty lackluster. In fact, I felt sick after eating here. The only reason I didn’t give a lower rating than this was because the waitress was nice. UPDATE: I received a message from a «Carlos,» who claimed to be the owner of this particular restaurant. He offered a complimentary meal to try and make amends for the bad review. When I agreed, he stopped responding and never reached out again. Horrible customer service and this is from the supposed owner.

Really dissapointed with my lunch takeout order. Was a fan but today was served a rotten avocado in my soup. Having avocado slices in my soup was an experience in and of itself. The service was terrible. No utensils or napkins were given. Food was about an hour late. No chips and salsa and when we called to explain our experience the person on the phone was very passive and unreassuring. Thanks for nothing! Oh and the steak empanadas were $ 10 for two and of course were not that good.

Best burritos everrrr Regular at the place since my work location moved closer to Blue Moon. The burritos are yummm and they have done great fried too with the burgers. The service could be a little slow, but they make up for it by good refills of nachos. Went there for drinks the other night along with dinner and they did a good job with that too.

Super slow service. There is something about this place that just doesn’t attract a crowd. Been here about 3 or 4 times and it’s never full(which most of the time is great) but this place just seems to be lacking finesse. We went to watch the World Cup and it was no where near packed but yet people at our table waited over 45 mins for food. The waiter even used the excuse that’s it’s full, the place was not full. I don’t think id come back to this place anytime sol.

I’ve never had service so atrocious(it took about 45 minutes from ordering to receiving enough food to constitute a meal for both of us, though still wasn’t everything we’d ordered — never got our drink or appetizer) Or food so awful(bland, undercooked so cold and chewy). And then have the manager fight us when we sent everything back and refused to pay. After we’d already complained to her at various points. The restaurant was empty — we should have walked out then.

This review is for take-out service!!! My mother brought home tacos from Blue Moon and they were AWESOME! I’m surprised by all the negative reviews but my experience with their food was great! Do yourself a favor and order the cheesecake chimichangas. They’re good. Like, eyeballs roll to the back of your head, orgasm, toe-curling good. You’re welcome.

I know the place since it was called BAJA, now with the new administration the quality has gone down, it’s a shame because I know people who work in blue moon, but the reality is that this would be the last place I’d want to spend a holiday or a meeting with my friends, on Friday night dj is more boring than listening to the news on radio, there’s a creep with undesirable and ridiculous hair who wears the same dirty clothes that makes customers wonder if he works there or is asking for money. On June 6, 2014 Friday, I went to eat as any customer who orders and pays their food, this guy comes up to my table and with a stupid attitude tells me to remove my hat that the restaurant is 5 star wtf? It’s joke? I didn’t respond or argued back because my education is more than 5 stars. Sad to say that management did nothing to fix the situation so I just paid and left. As I was leaving I noticed other customers sitting at the bar with caps on and nothing was said to them which only made me think that this place is not only a nightmare but management is racist.

One star is for the sweet server. Now, the real review. If you’re expecting a taste of mexican food… this is DEFINITELYNOT the place!!! Do yourself a favor by not paying their over priced and BLAND food. Just a lil background. I ordered Chicken Enchilladas and all I got was soft taco with chicken inside and lots of mozarella cheese! Really??? For the bill of $ 80(for 4 people)… it’ s notttt worth it! This restaurant needs to stop claiming that they serve mexican food because this is so misleading;(. Never ever going to waste my time and money to this place ever!

I’ve been here since the opening. I keep thinking that one day they will season the food properly. Bland, bland bland. The refried beans are even lame. I’m like, «dude you are a mexican joint and your beans are lame.» The lunch specials are okay priced but at the end of the day I just leave disappointed.

My boo lives like a block away from this place. He took me here for dinner. I’m not a big fan of Mexican cuisine but this place made me be one. The Taco Salad is soooo Good and it’s Huge. Definitely coming back.

Last Friday we ordered dinner from here via . The food was delivered twice. The first order didn’t have the fish tacos. Just as I was calling up the restaurant, the 2nd correct order was delivered as well. When I spoke to the restaurant they said, their fax machine wasn’t working & there was a mix up. They were really polite and made sure to not charge us twice. The meal was strictly average — fish tacos and veggie quesadillas, nothing much to say about it. Everything was just about okay and not on my list of must-try restaurants in the neighborhood.

My review is for a large private party: I hosted my wedding rehearsal dinner here in mid-October 2013 because I wanted a fun, casual, no-frills atmosphere prior to a more formal wedding setting nearby the next day. I made reservations for a large party of 25 and Blue Moon provided us the upstairs private space for no charge/no requirements. The last thing I wanted for my wedding weekend was to make more decisions. The restaurant offered to create a special party menu but I chose to just have our guests order off the regular menu. I was surprised that this was possible given my group size. Many other restaurants would not even allow this. This was my main reason for picking Blue Moon, because they were just so lax on large party policies, which I highly appreciate. The only special request I made to the manager Carlos was that I wanted the restaurant to provide menus with no prices printed on them. When we arrived, they had actually printed 25 menus and laminated them like regular menus for us. The staff provided impeccable service during our meals. I wish I caught our main server’s name, because she was incredible and took care of all of us all night like a pro. We had no ordering problems and our drinks and food all came on a timely basis. The food portions are huge. 2 people can actually share an entrée, but where’s the fun in that? That being said, the food was good and everyone was VERY well fed and happy, including our picky Asian parents =P desserts were great as well. Thanks to the staff and Carlos again — you helped kick off our wedding weekend in a great way. Full disclosure: I had been to this place only when this was called Baja Mexican. My first time at Blue Moon was only this one time but it’s safe to say that Blue Moon has come a long way since that change.

I am assuming that this place went through some growing pains when it first opened, because I, like some of the more recent reviewers do not understand the really low ratings. The food is MUCH better than Baja. Like… MUCHBETTER! The portions are enormous and you can actually choose between pulled meat and chopped which is something that Baja did not offer. The sangria is just okay — a little too sugary for my tastes. As I said in my review of Baja, people should be cognizant of the fact that this is Tex-Mex style food. If you are looking for anything else, you are at the wrong place, and probably in the wrong neighborhood as well. I look forward to coming back here again soon.

Been a fan of this place since I stopped in for their grand opening party a few months ago. Seems like every time I go back, I find a new reason to love this place. Drinks — the sangria is great. Come during happy hour or karaōke night and you can snag one of these bad boys for $ 3. A few of them and you’re feeling good for the night. Food — BMC gives free chips and salsa when you walk in(amazingly quick service every time I’ve been there) which is good. My friends have ordered the burritos before, which are HUGE and very filling. Definitely a good deal for the $ 12-$ 15 you pay for them. Atmosphere — nothing amazing or different from most Jersey City bars. Its low key and intimate, with a few different areas for different things(i.e. bar area for sports/hanging out, restaurant space for dates/dinner etc.). PS — this spot gets really fun during karaōke night(Thursdays) and the owner is known to give free drinks out throughout the night.

Went on a Thursday night which is Karaōke night. Have to say this was a great night to pick. The people who performed were very impressive. The bartenders were cool as well and joined in on the singing as well. On to the food. There are many items on the menu, since this was my first time there I tried the shrimp burrito which was excellent. The portion is huge so bring you appetite when you arrive or a friend that you can split it with. I would definitely go back again. If you’re on a date or out with friends its definitely a place you should check out.

I’m really surprised at all of the less than 3 star reviews. I’m wondering if the reviewers were just being overcritical. I visited last night with my girlfriend for dinner and Steven was our waiter. When you walk in you’ll pass the bar area(has a few TVs and seemed lively even at 7pm) and then be greeted by the hostess. I get what one of the other reviewers said about having overattentive service, because almost everyone says«hi», smiles, and your drinks are always full. I think this is great. The owner even walked around to make sure everyone was doing well. The portions are huge here. I am a big eater and even the 2 choice combo(on the back of the massive menu) was too much food. My girlfriend got the steak tacos and had a lot to take home. I was feeling frisky so I ordered a drink(forget the name), but it’s basically a house margarita with a Coronita in it. It was delicious and strong. This will definitely be a local favorite for us. Stop by and give it a try.

I’ll do my disclaimer that I’ve only done take out from here, never done a dine in… yet. The first time we ordered from here was girls night and my friend ordered from them while I was on my way home… the food made it there before I did… even having to come back twice, because we did two separate orders. The second time, my boyfriend and I ordered from here was because I was sick and was definitely not up for cooking. Unfortunately, due to an emergency(which Blue Moon warned us about) their delivery boy was not going to be back for a little bit, so my boyfriend went to pick up. Our food was delicious. My boyfriend is now obsessed with their taquitos. He kept wishing he had ordered more. The two things I didn’t care for is one, they are not on seamless. Two, charging extra for sour cream. The boyfriend would like to dine in next time.
