Terrible place! Horrible staff, extremely unpleasant and rude. I ordered a salad(not custom, one from the list) and requested for it to be tossed with dressing at the side. First of all, they assembled 3 other orders before mine and when they got to mine, they gave me a box that was not tossed. I requested again to which the woman grudgingly tossed and returned the container with no dressing! Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed when I got back to my desk. To make matters worse, the lettuce used was disgusting, stale and brown. I can’t believe I spent 10 bucks on a lunch I cannot enjoy.

First time trying out the JC location. Was actually roped in by their«free mini chocolate croissant» offer they had going on that day. Have always been a fan of their soups and sandwiches. however their salads always leave something to be desired. Not a fan of salad places that include only a few toppings and charge you extra for any additional. This location has ample seating however and friendly staff.

I love ABPs food. I go here for lunch all the time, the staff are ALWAYS super nice and there are a lot of healthy options with calorie info posted next to each food item on the menu. the only thing is that sometimes the staff can be socializing and not pay attention to what they are doing and make you the wring sandwich or soup. This happened to me on two occasions, once I ordered a healthy wrap and instead they gave me a wrap that had mayo bacon and cheese inside. its a little unorganized and hectic when you go during lunch and there is one older woman at the cash register who is painfully slow, but other than that the staff are pretty fast and the food is good. I love the soups too.

Something about au Bön pain has always really bothered me– maybe it’s the French-café wannabe-upscale vibe they always tout despite being really just an average sandwich chain. Despite it all I always find myself here once and a while since it’s a convenient lunch place that seems to situate at all the towns I frequent. I usually keep my expectations low, but this jersey city location was downright bad. The first time I came was around 12:30 pm, which is prime lunch hour, and they had run out of ham, avocado, and bacon. I settled for a ham-less Cubano since i was fine with the turkey-mustard-cheese-pickle combo. I had to really force this down because it was a combination of all sorts of salty and nasty. The«pickles» they use is really just the relish that comes out of Heinz bottles doused in even more neon-green sourness. The second time I came here was at 9:30 am, looking for a bagel, and if course they were out. Even their supply of pastries was running low, which is not very excusable since their pastries are one of their main products, and it was only 9:30 am in the morning.

There are so many choices at this place and their sandwiches are delicious. I also love their soups and desserts.

The Jersey City Au Bön Pain just catered a lunch for me. Boxed lunch with sandwiches and wraps, plus chips, cookie and water. Very professional operation. They called to confirm delivery and to let me know they were en route. Expertly set up display, separating vegetarian, chicken, turkey, beef and seafood options. Pricing was very reasonable and everyone was very happy with their meal. A very positive experience.

Don’t expect too much from here. The coffee is okay. The pastries are lacking. The soup and sandwiches were better than I expected. It’s a good place to come in to sit if you need to get some work done or need to grab a drink. If you want something good to eat I’d head over to PotBelly or see if the food trucks are out.

Plaxe kinda sucks… Only come sometimes cause it’s convenient for work, but I just bought a small soup for $ 4 that was cold… Last thing you wanna eat on the firs snowfall of the year is cold soup…

I’ve been an au bon pain fan for years. 2 downsides to this fact: there aren’t that many locations to pick from(which is kinda good, sometimes), and this Jersey City location is just BAD, plainly bad!!! Look, all of us need our caffeine kick in the morning. We may not want to admit it, but it’s a fact. And we take silent glee as we are pouring that first cup of Jo’, swirling in the right blend of milk and sugar, maybe a Lil more of this, how about a touch of a flavor? Aaawww, it gives us an inner smile, esp after a tough or long commute to work, where we didn’t get a seat on the train, and it’s rainy out :( Sadly, the jc au bon pain location takes ALL the joy out of that first cup! Their coffee stations are a mess. No milk to be found, cups are missing, spilled coffee on the counters. Need I go on? Your day is already sour, and you haven’t even gotten to your desk yet. Sad, so sad. This is certainly not a one time deal. I’ve been here roughly 4 times in the last 2 months. 3 times, the place was a disaster. The one«acceptable» time, I caught fresh coffee coming out. Can it possibly be a bad timing issue on my part? Or did I just get lucky that other time? I’ve written to au bon pain corp to complain, and rcvd the standard reply«hi, I’m manager so and so, sorry for the bad service. Ask for me next time for free coffee» well, I don’t want free coffee. I have money. I want decent, not even great, service for my money. Obviously, I expect too much. Their one saving grace is the selection of pastries on site. Fresh, plentiful and filing. But it’s nice to have coffee with your strudel, right? Spare yourself misery and walk ½ block up to the corner diner. Fresh fast and decent coffee served there.

Lots of grievances with this location. It’s great if you need a spot to get some work done with your laptop. But there’s a reason it’s always so empty. At 3 pm: If you want to get a latte, you have to go up to the machines and wait for the person ordering a sandwich to finish up before they even look over at you. Meanwhile, there are 2 cashiers. One of whom is usually just standing there. Nothing bad to say about the food. It’s not the best, and expensive for what you get, but that’s just because of the location. They’ll make money no matter what. However, the coffee is terrible. If I get a salad from here for lunch, I will still walk across the street to Starbucks for a coffee. The number one thing that bothers me are the army of human ashtrays outside the building at all times. They even smoke at the tables! I thought you had to be a certain number of feet from the building, and that smoking at the tables was illegal. I guess I was wrong. If I enter this building, I will only do so from the side where the lightrail stops. Otherwise, you’ll be hit in the face by a cloud of smoke. There are so many better options than this place.

I’m here almost 4 days a week. The staff is awesome and so very friendly. I am a big fan of most of their bakery products, soups and sandwiches(I won’t say the soups and sandwiches are the best in the area though but manageable). Not to forget the muesli and blueberry yogurt. And, say hello to the ever smiling and energetic Nadya ! Trust me, she makes your day with that smile.

This particular Au Bön Pain sucks. No matter if I go in there at 3p or 6p there are never any baked goods! And it’s always empty so I don’t understand why there is never enough croissants?

I had a lot of lunches at the Au bon pain at pittsburgh, just next to my office. But when I visited this particular location, I was disappointed. They do not chop the salad for you and put too much of dressing :-( However, being a vegeterian, I like the fact that they have alot more options than other places. Like thier veggie salad, veggie burger and the recently introduced veggie wrap. And just love their coconut curry soup. So, I will keep visiting it one a week. But guys, please chop my salad.

I think one trip to Au Bön Pain was enough for me. First off, the lunch crowd is crazy: everyone is cranky, and there are at least 5 different queues that you have to navigate. In terms of the food, I know it’s a chain, but seriously: it isn’t too hard to make a tasty sandwich. I ordered a hot sandwich with turkey, cheese, honey mustard, and avocado. The honey mustard was of the burn-your-nostrils variety; it totally overwhelmed the mild turkey and cheese. The avocado had been smushed to hell, which was not very appetizing. I got all of this and a bottle of sparkling water for $ 10.49. Never again. The second star is for the close proximity to my office on a windy day.

I’ve only been to this location a couple of times. I’m usually a Starbucks girl, if I’m going franchise. This place isn’t too bad. I’ve stopped in while waiting for my bus connection at Exchange(The commute). It’s clean and the service is decent. It’s the usual fair. Nothing special. I’m sure I’ll be back as I will be forever making this commute and it’s just a little more convenient than the Starbucks over there.

Super friendly staff and excellent selection of soups. I walked in and tried their wild harvest mushroom soup sample and was instantly hooked. The asiago cheese breadstick was equally delicious. The sandwich I had was forgettable. I’d stick to the soups and salads.

Stopped in here the other day out of desperation because I needed to grab something quick and on the fly, and Milanos was packed to the gills. I’m sorry, but the food at Au Bön Pain just sucks. Sure, it’s not the worst food ever or anything, but it’s just so blah and tasteless. When I was much younger I enjoyed Au Bön Pain, probably because I liked that it had a French name. And crappy food was far more passable back then. At this point in my life, if I never ate another Au Bön Pain again, I’d never miss it. And the coffee sucks, too.

Doesn’t compare to a traditional French bakery but what does one expect in a chain. Their croissants are not what any French citizen would really call it but again it is a franchise. However the cookies, muffins and some other bake goods are fresh and tasty. Sandwiches are in general better than Blimpe or Subway but then again nothing to really shout out about. Very fast paced in and out with very little interaction with their staff as you check what you want on an order sheet and wait for them to call your name to pick up. As mentioned, if you want to be in and out, 5hat is the aim and it meets your goal. They also have soups which are pretty good.

I’ve always been a fan of their coffee, especially the hazelnut flavored one. The coffee and baked goods are self serve so you can make it the way you like and pick out which ever baked goodies you want(but of course be sanitary about it… well, you would hope other people wont touch the food with their bare hands… eek, gross). They also write down the time the coffee should be changed. My only issue is that I wished the hazelnut coffee was a bit stronger, so I just mix it with some of the french roast. voila! Yum.

I’ve come here twice now around lunch time and have nothing bad to say. The employees are very attentive and made my sandwiches to order. I enjoy there sandwiches very much, there chipotle turkey sandwich is awesome. There food might be a bit pricey but it is fresher and much healthier. Overall I will be coming back and will recommend this place for others.
