This store has gone downhill. The cashiers are rude, answer the phone while checking out customers and act like they’re doing«you» a favor by being there. There are no minorities working there and it’s very trailer park. I don’t shop there anymore. It’s trashy.

Great market, fresh food, decent prices. Found everything we needed… Nice small town feel with large selection of groceries, especially produce.

Clean, reasonable selection of items but most important, friendly and helpful staff! Great small town community grocery store!

Dropping this place down to one star. Here’s why: I bought some fish the other day and it was spoiled. I ate some of it and almost got sick. There is no excuse for this. Peck’s is the only place that sells fish in a twenty-mile radius, and they should not be taking advantage of their monopoly position to sell old fish. Disgraceful. As far as I am concerned, this calls into question their quality control, refrigeration and Lord knows what else. All I know is that this should not have happened and that this market cannot be trusted as far as fresh meat and fish is concerned. Everything else I mentioned in my previous review still holds. It has occasional bargains but usually ShopRite in Liberty is worth the trip. In fact, ShopRite has much better customer service. The staff at Pecks is clueless and can be curt and unfriendly if you don’t know them personally.

This smallish neighborhood supermarket sells everything you need for your stay upstate NY as long as you’re not too picky about brand! They have a nice deli, fresh bread each day, and the prices are reasonable although not as good as the Monticello Walmart. They also have a recycling station outside where you can return your cans and bottles for a deposit return.

A solid local market that did the job for me. We went in looking for some corn for the grill and they had tons. It was fresh and reasonably priced. As was the rest of their produce. A decent sized store and they have all of the staples to get the job done. The cashier was friendly as was the store staff. I was in and out in a flash, ready to fire up the grill for some good eats.

Peck’s now has great local products and while I usually go to ShopRite to get all our household staples, I do like going to Peck’s for special things. I just need to go more often so I can appreciate their selection more.

Peck’s is the grocery store in my town. It’s not much but, in general, it will get the job done, I guess. FYI, they don’t sell saffron. This isn’t just sour grapes because I had to drive to the Shoprite in Liberty in order to get the ingredients I needed for Paella. But the unavailability of saffron at Peck’s is emblematic of its weaknesses: It’s like a regular grocery store except smaller and without any of the good stuff. Did you ever walk around a beautiful grocery store and buy some fruits or vegetables you weren’t planning on just because they looked so fresh and amazing? That would never happen at Peck’s. I live in farm country but even in the summer, they stock the same soggy crap they have all winter. Or did you ever make the mistake of walking around a beautiful grocery store when you were really hungry so you bought too much stuff? Maybe picking up cookies, small salads, little delicious things you forgot existed but that for some reason you really want to eat? If you walked around Peck’s when you were hungry, you’d start looking at all the delicous meat on your arm or hand and your mouth would start to water a little. Did you say wine? Not at this store. Fresh-baked breads or sweets? Nope. Fresh herbs? Who needs them when you have Hamburger Helper with all the spices in it already? Peck’s will get the job done for canned goods, sugar, flour and other staples. But it really makes me appreciate some of my former haunts, places I used to actually like to go to and buy what I wanted, one meal at a time: The Bi-Rite in SF and the New Pi Coop in Iowa City, two places that understand it really doesn’t matter what you do, but if you’re going to do it, you might as well do it right.
