The food was great. Ordered the Bell Tower sandwich with vegetable soup. The place wasn’t too busy so our food came out quick. Definitely coming back.

The Uptown has GREAT anytime breakfasts. They have wonderful homemade pies with a new variety everyday. The Twinkie Cake is a speciality of this restaurant as well. The only problem is the wait time between getting waited on and the food delivery. Every time I have been in it’s pretty slow but if you aren’t in a hurry, it’s definitely worth the stop.

If you like breakfast any time of the day, better go to Uptown Café. They pour coffee as soon as you come in & keep it coming. The omelettes & scramblers are our favorites but the cinnamon French toast is a close contender. Uptown feels like a small town café where people may sit down with you at a big table to eat & visit for awhile.

Keep in mind that I’m calling 3 stars average, not bad. The wait staff was good. The building was kind of crappy. I got the Churdan Classic, and it was ok but nothing special. The pecan pie was so sickeningly sweet I couldn’t finish it. Over all, if someone wanted to go there I wouldn’t complain, but I also won’t go back on my own.

I walked into this little café thinking it was going to be just like every other small town café and it a lot of ways it was, which is just what I was looking for on a Sunday afternoon, after a few hour hike at Dolliver Memorial State Park. I quickly discovered that it was a well oiled machine and everything was running super efficiently! It was not a sleepy little café thats for sure, it was energetic and had a great vibe. The owner was there, helping the wait staff and laughing with the crew. The waitresses were offering free pie to the men for Fathers Day! Yummy. The guy next to me ate his before lunch… great idea:) I was close enough to check out all of the pies coming out of the kitchen, and looked GOOD. Although I was unable to spend the day with my dad, I had to eat a piece of pie for him, right? Since they serve breakfast all day, I seriously was torn between an omelet or a sandwich! I love places that serve breakfast all day, b/c I LOVE breakfast! I choose the reuben with a side of pasta salad. The sandwich was incredible. The meat was thick and juicy, and the sauerkraut/dressing combo was magically paired. I fully intended to only eat half of my sandwich so I could save room for pie… but it was too good to stop eating! I ate a light breakfast… so I do have room for pie, right…:) I really wanted to try multiple pies, but I went with the banana cream and some coffee. Delicious! It was rich, and creamy and the merignue on top was perfect. It was defientely homemade recently! The coffee was great with the pie, and I wanted to nap afterwards, but still had a drive back to Omaha. My waitress was super friendly, only had good things to say about her job. Always a plus! The price was just right-sandwich, tea, coffee, pie for a shade over $ 12-very good! It was a perfect little café in the middle of Jefferson, I would recommend if you are driving through or heading out to the Deal’s Orchard nearby(which was closed on Saturday :(
