Philly Cheesesteaks

Rudest customer service. No reason for it. I don’t have much more to say than that because I went next door to a more welcoming Cheeburger Cheeburger lady.
My friend ordered onion rings here and said they were soggy and gave him diarrhea.

Should be sent to jail for calling this a Philly Cheesesteak. Just because it looks like one, doesn’t mean it is one. Worst cheesesteak I’ve ever had. I’ve had cheesesteak in many states including Pennsylvania and this one is by far the worst.
I didn’t even finish my sandwich.

Awful service and even worse food!!! I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and onion rings with a drink for $ 14. The guy making the food seemed like he had an attitude problem with not just me but at least another customer when we dared to ask a question about how to order and where to get our drinks. It’s embarrassing to call that a Philly cheesesteak what I received. They make it so much better even in Boston. The cheese was not even melted. I think I got about 5 onion rings in my order and they were cold and disgusting. I couldn’t even finish them even though I was hungry. The soda machine was Pepsi (I prefer Coke) and the only drink I would have rather had over that was the Sierra mist and it was empty. I can certainly see why there was no line at this place like there were lines at the other places.

I made a noob Unilocal mistake the other day when I checked the reviews after ordering my food here as opposed to before. Philly Cheesesteaks was a disappointing place to eat, even by fast food standards.
* You have to place your order using a touchscreen. Since there’s no human interaction involved, it’s tough asking questions or customizing your order outside of preestablished parameters.
* You can only order breakfast options during breakfast time. If you can order a beef sandwich with eggs, why can’t you order a steak sandwich without eggs? This problem is of course made worse by the aforementioned limited options of the touchscreen.
* What bugged me the most was that the meat was overcooked to the point where it didn’t really contribute any positive flavor to the meal. The eggs were also disappointing.
* The sandwich filling wasn’t fully shoved into the bread fold, resulting in the filling popping out and there being an awkward gap in the middle of the sandwich.
On the plus side the mushrooms I added to my sandwich were good, so there’s that.
I will not eat here again; I’d rather go to the pizza place a few stores down or alternative (fast food or otherwise) I can find.

Well I think i should have started by reading the reviews first, but I didnt.
This location is within the JFK airport and is one of several choices from the food vendor area. There are several types off food, burgers, cheese steaks, asian, pizza, etc all grouped together. I felt like I haven’t had a good philly cheese steak in a while so i gave the cheese steak place a shot.
The ordering was pretty cool all done by a tablet so that there is nobody else to blame if you key in the wrong order. I opted for the philly chese steak with peppers and for an additional $ 1 you can get cheese. you’d think that cheese would be included when you order a cheese steak sandwich. but who am I to judge. I also ordered fries with my sandwich, besides how bad can fries be?
It appeard to me that the woman that was doing the cooking was frustrated with her job and was just going through the motions. She seemed very aggravated every time someone ask her how to use the ordering device. I understand that some people aren’t tech savvy and might need a quick lesson on how the thing works. It even took me a minute to realize that there were no people taking orders.
Now for the food. the cheese steak was gross, the beef had no real flavor and was not seasoned well, the grilled peppers really had a strange flavor to them, they were almost sweet and were overcooked and just not good. I could almost wring the sandwich out and fill a shot glass with the grease that came off of it. Ans the fries that seemed like a safe bet… well crap. they weren’t good at all the fryer was just not hot enough and they came out soggy and soaked with oil. I had a few, luckily drowning them in ketchup seemed to offset some of the oil flavor.
The checkout process was easy since all you have to do is give the cashier the ticket that was printed for you when you ordered. The cashier didnt seem to really give a crap about anything I asked if the ketchup, napkins, etc were outside and she opted to reach for a few packets and handed them to me. she seemed annoyed when i asked for some more, which it turns out there was ketchup, mustard, forks, knives, etc right outside.
I’ll admit my hunger got the best of me, but I ended up throwing away most of my lunch and hoping that it didn’t catch up to me half way through a 6 hour flight. luckily i survived with no incidents.

The food tasted like it didn’t have any seasoning and was extremely overpriced for what you receive. I recommend not visiting this place.

$ 10 ‘Cheese Steak’ where you actually have to pay extra for the cheese? Talk about false advertising. Plus you get virtually no steak so it’s wasted calories with no flavor unless you pour condiments everywhere. Classic Airport Trap, will NEVER return.

Pretty bad… How can you mess up an egg sandwich? It’s also self ordering, but the printer was out which meant I had to repeat my order. They also almost forgot one of the sandwhiches I ordered.

The worst cheesesteak I have ever had. I wasn’t expecting gourmet, but I thought the meat would at least have salt and pepper. So terrible. Come on! You’re representing New York; you’re doing a terrible job.

The employee was rude and not helpful. My fries were cold and the cheesesteak was probably the worst I’ve had. The bread was hard so I only ate the inside. Which left me with cold provolone and thin, chewy meat.

Two and a half stars? WHO THE FUCK GAVE THIS ANYTHING EXCEPT ONE STAR?!
It sort of suggests that shit about Unilocal being soooo trustworthy on the top of every goddamn page on this website may not be so true, you know?
Anyways, no. Shockingly, the place named Philly Cheesesteaks located in a fucking airport in NYC serves shitty food for too much money. I mean, maybe it’s OK for an airport? But what kind of fucking bar is that? A really fucking low bar, thats what.
And another thing — why are you checking this place on Unilocal?If you’re not yet at the airport, here’s a tip instead — go outside. Go anywhere. Buy anything. Bring that to the airport. Eat it. Congratulations, you just won.

My fiancé and I were starving while waiting for our flight. Poor judgement got the best of us, and we ended up buying 2 philly cheesesteaks from here. Hunger makes you do bad things…
The cheesesteaks were ginormous, and I was not expecting it to have such a large amount of meat and cheese in it (not to mention oil as well). The taste was mediocre, that we ended up only eating half and threw the rest away. An hour later while I was on the plane, my stomach felt weird. Perhaps it was too oily for me.
If I ever come back to Terminal 5 at JFK, I will make sure I won’t be getting another cheesesteak from here ever again.

Cheese steaks are pretty good, if you can ignore the massive amount of oil they use, it practically leaks out with every bite, and tends to soak through the wrapper. Please skip this if your at terminal 5 and looking for something to eat, there are better options around.

In my experience, the best Philly Cheesesteaks come from Philly.
That isn’t to say that there are no good Philly Cheesesteaks outside Philly. But having had one of the Philly Cheesesteaks from this place (Philly Cheesesteaks), I think I can definitively say that the best Philly Cheesesteaks do not come from the airport in Queens.
All that said, I appreciate that the extremely rude Philly Cheesesteaks counter guy, when he cut our sandwich in half,* put essentially all the meat on my side. My wife gets all the meat she needs at home, thank you very much.

I like the breakfast here, portion are big and it was tasty.
I just wanted to get quick meal, and I didn’t disappointed at all with the quality. Side potatoes was yummy.
And the ordering system through touch screen, it was convenient.

Avg fast food. Order from a touch screen computer, don’t need to talk to any worker. The cook makes the sandwich then calls your # to pick it up. The Philly is average. Just fills you up.

Surly, overpriced, and check out the pic (very little filling)! Not worth stopping! They got one star only because I couldn’t give them a negative star!

Probably the best value at the airport. You get a decent amount of food, enough to share if you’re not starving for under 10 bucks. I can also say that the bread was quality which is key.
They skimp on the meat and cheese though. The ratio of bread to beef is way off. Also, the workers seem to be in no hurry whatsoever. They literally make one at a time. So if you’re in a hurry, look elsewhere!

Jet Blue Food Court is a interesting concept for travellers in the JFK airport. Presented like a typcial food court, travellers line up to order their food by touch screen menu and pay upon exit. For this food experience I went for Philly Cheesesteaks because they offered a variety menu and a shorter wait line.
Typically, in my experience, not many cheesesteaks offer a chicken option which was one of the reasons I selected them. Portion size is HUGE. Definitely can share your sandwich or save for another meal. Cost is about 6 $ which is good unless you like lots of toppings which cost more. Overall, good taste and affordable when compared to other eats in this terminal.

Located in between Cheeburger Cheeburger and Pommes Frites, is your Philly Cheesesteaks stand. Simple and somewhat gratifying when you are in the mood for the simplest of cheese steaks. You punch your order through the system and take your receipt, then wait for your number to be called before paying up at the cash register.
A Just Steak ($ 5.99) sandwich will simply consist of frozen Steam-​Ummm like meat thrown on the grill, then chopped and served in a hero. Any additional toppings (tomatoes, lettuce, etc.) and cheese (Cheez Whiz, Provolone, Swiss Cheese) will cost you $ 0.99 each. I decided to go for a Just Steak with Cheez Whiz ($ 5.99 + $ 0.99 + tax = $ 7.24). After the steak meat was chopped on the grill, the Cheez Whiz was spread on top. When I watched the guy throw the meat in the hero, he missed about ¹⁄₈ of it and just slid it to front of the grill, where garbage scraps are dispensed into. I was disappointed at how much steak meat he wasted. He wrapped my cheesesteak in some deli-​like paper.
After I paid for the meal, I found a seat and immediately proceeded on eating the cheesesteak after taking a few photos. I was surprised that the cheesesteak was rather lukewarm if not cold. That was probably because the hero bread was at room temperature rather than being warmed up on the grill, cooling the steak meat down rather significantly. There was not a lot of meat nor Cheez Whiz, consisting mostly of bread, but beyond that, the cheesesteak was decent for airport food although erring on the border of subpar. I was left with no desire of finishing it except for the fact that I was hungry. After, I felt a bit greasy and unsatisfied, so luckily I had ordered some onion rings from neighboring Cheeburger Cheeburger.
