ANOTHERUPDATE: So JG saw my review and worked to make it right. I really appreciate that! They gave me a 20% discount on the order I complained about, as well as sent the same order for free the next day. I’d say that’s good customer service and felt remised if I didn’t update my review. Will continue giving them my business! Thank you JG for making it right!

After reading a few reviews about Jackfruit I decided to order on Sunday because I haven’t had decent Indian/Paki food since Mint in Long Island awhile back. I was excited about a local spot 3 blocks from my house and I wasn’t disappointed. I called and had curry chicken, curry lamb, naan and basmati rice(I shared lol, not all for me!) delivered. The person who answered was nice but a slight difficulty with the language barrier. I spoke clearly, slowly and gave my info and he understood completely. Im very familiar with Indian/Paki food but i can see it being alittle difficult for customers who order by phone. It took alittle longer than 30 mins but the food was very hot when I got it. Overall excellent food and I hope the quality stays the same!

While I am happy there’s a new restaurant to the area with Indian cuisine I feel there is much to be improved from the dining and ordering experience here. I ordered on Eat24 and my order was running late so I decided to call. I then noticed they had just called a minute before. I called them back and said I was returning their call. The lady on the phone said no they didn’t call me and then it took about 10 minutes or so for me to get through to her that she did call and I placed an order and was waiting for someone. Once I did that she started yelling in the background with another gentlemen and then told me there was an issue with wrong address. Not sure how that could be since Eat24 had all my info beforehand. I gave her my complete address again and she told me someone would be there soon. Within 5 minutes my bell rang and the guy said he had been looking for my place for 20 minutes. The lady that answered the phone really has no business doing so. Her English is terrible and it was very frustrating trying to get her to understand why I was calling. They definitely need to get someone fluent in English picking up the phone and taking orders. Well now that I’ve explained the first fiasco I can move onto the food. The chicken pakora was so overcooked. Yea it was crunchy alright but the insides were fried so hard the chicken was like jerky. I’ve also never had them prepared this way. At other restaurants they’ve made them within a thick batter. These were very thin strips of chicken in a not so thick batter. The flavors were good but the consistency was super tough and difficult to eat and chew. The saffron chicken was good and I ordered it with medium heat. Medium heat to them means high heat. It was super hot and I can take heat pretty well. I should have ordered mild and may be it would have been an actual medium. All was going well with the saffron chicken until I bit into a huge chunk of star anise. Wow so overpowering that it completely threw off all the flavors. I spit it out and quickly moved onto the shrimp hoping it would do something to get this taste out of my mouth. I tried some of the shrimp al tikka and it had nice spice to it without being overpowering and was laying on a bed of peppers and onions. The shrimp were probably medium to large in size and were grilled well with a touch of char. Not a bad appetizer but by the time they got to me they were already cold. The basmati rice and naan that accompanied my meal were both great. The naan was really fresh and super soft. I might give them another try in the future but I want to wait a while and see if they are able to work out some of the issues first and really get their bearings.

mediocre at best. Here’s why: — walked in to the owner conversing at a table with his friends. He didn’t stop his conversation to assist his new customers for at least 5 minutes(myself and my cousin). — he wasn’t very helpful in explaining the different curries/dishes to me. I’m Indo-Caribbean and eat curry on a daily basis, however I wanted something different — spicy Bengali curry was in mind. — — — — — — — — — — — FOOD: $ 14.50 + I ordered 2 chicken samosas and was only given ONE. extremely oily and small fyi. + garlic naan — good, but can you really mess this up? + chicken curry(boneless) — he heated it up in a round plastic soup container via microwave and there was SOMUCHOIL. way too much. I asked for more gravy not oil. BLAND. Mango Lassi: $ 4, good. — — — — — — — — — — – So how did 1 super small container of curry, 1 garlic naan, 1 samosa, and a mango lassi come up to $ 14.50? I don’t know. Not sure how I could ask for an order of chicken samosa(the menu states order of 2 pieces), and only receive only super small oil soaked samosa? Why did this man not give a shxt about assisting his customers? Why was it a pain for him to answer my questions in search of a spicy Bengali curry? — — — — — — — — – oh… because he wanted to hang out with his friends inside the restaurant. there are more places on Hillside Ave. that serve better food IMO. the customer service is poor and it seems like that’s the norm with steam table places.

Excellent food and service! I would suggest asking the owner for his recommendations and for dishes they have that aren’t listed on menu(special items). My family had Bengali food for the first time and truly enjoyed it. We are Indian and also love the Indian dishes they made for us! Excellent Service, and Excellent Food, at Excellent Prices!

Just finished my seamless order and it’s definitely my new go-to spot in this neighborhood! The tomato soup and chicken tikka masala were amazing.

So here’s a breakdown of our first meal(Friday night delivery via , as is a family tradition). Vegetable Pakora(5) — «A little too crunchy» kid’s thought; wife thought they were«a bit overdone». Vegetable Samosa(2) — I thought they were great; light, crispy and pleasant. Not too greasy(unlike some places where you order and the are dripping in oil). The potato filling was tasty. Chaana Masala — Wife and kids were used to the tangy-tart tomato-based Indian style of chickpeas, but we collectively found this Bangladeshi(?) style of preparation to be a a welcome surprise. The seasoning of the curry was not as familiar to me and actually had me Googling Bangladeshi cuisine. My wife still prefers the traditional Indian but I really enjoyed it, and I usually don’t like chickpeas. Of all the dishes this made the biggest impression on me and I would definitely get it again. Gobi Manchurian — We’ve been hard-pressed to find a restaurant that makes Gobi Manchurian as great as the now-defunct Tangra Wok in Rego Park. My wife found this a little«too ketchupy», but deemed it pretty good, while I found it very tasty. We would order it again. Shrimp Vindaloo and Jumbo Shrimp Karahi — we’re used to ordering dishes from Royal India Palace, whose shrimp entrees are slightly larger and $ 11.99. At $ 9.99 these were smaller but we found the helpings commensurate with the price. As for the food itself — very good. Different, like the chickpeas. Not exceedingly spicy. Even the Vindaloo was uncharacteristically mild and not as vinegar-like as what we’re used to at a traditional Indian restaurant — but no less enjoyable. Peshwari Naan — A new discovery. Kids requested it, found it a bit strange and decided they would opt for the potato-filled naan next time. No matter, more for dad, who again found it delicious. All in all, a good first experience — and a new restaurant to add to our roster for quality Indian food delivery to Kew Gardens(Yay!).

Food was delicious. I loved everything that was ordered and I thought it was fairly priced. Staff is very nice and the person who I believe is the owner, is very genuine and cares about his customers and the food he serves. I tried the Paneer Pakora, Vegetable Samosas, Palak Paneer and the buttered Naan. All delicious and PLENTY of leftovers. Plus I’m glad there’s another Indian spot in the area that delivers.

I enjoyed my veggie combo lunch here. The food was fresh and flavorful. I live in Jackson Heights, and compared to the average quality of vegetarian Indian food there, this was a notch better. Staff are friendly and i liked the music videos too. Recommended.

Food is not fresh, had to be microwaved. Everything was over cooked and too oily. Way better Indian food else where and for a better price. Do not trust below reviews all from family/friends probably. Save your money.

Excellent food, very clean enviroemt. Owner is very friendly and attentive. Place is a bit cozy but it’s well decorated. They really have wonderful food, few times are authentic to Bangladesh which I loved! Highly recommended for seasoned spice lovers or someone who wants to try a new flavor :)

I couldn’t wait for this place to open ever since I saw them starting construction. Briarwood desperately needed a good Indian restaurant. There aren’t many options in the area and not only is this place consistently good, it’s also open late. The staff is very friendly every time I visit and the restaurant itself is very clean. I’ve stuck with essentially the same few items every time I go, but the chicken masala is hot and fresh, the naan is the best I’ve had and the samosas are fantastic. Once I found out they delivered I told my roommates and they enjoy it just as much as I do. My last order was perfect, and the prices are fair. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back soon.

The first time I came here with my fiancé we got samosas and two vegetable dishes, and were pretty happy with them, though we weren’t sure if the guy calculated our bill correctly. We took a menu, decided to order from them. The items on their paper menu and on grubhub are different, so you’ll have to call and ask. Anyway, my fiancé placed an order for a few vegetable dishes and vegetable samosas. He also made a point to ask if the vegetable dishes were vegan(no meat, no dairy, no eggs), but did have some difficulty understanding the guy on the phone. He was then told delivery would take 15 – 30 minutes. It took more than an hour for them to come, in fact they showed up about 20 minutes after my fiancé called to check up on our order. When they did come, most of the food wasn’t warm and the samosas were meat samosas. We called to complain and tell them we were vegetarian, they apologized and offered to send us vegetable samosas, but I would have preferred if they’d offer us a refund, because getting meat made me not want to eat anything from them. I’m never going back or ordering from them again. Clearly they aren’t mindful of some of their customers being vegetarian or vegan.

Curry in the wee hours of the night? Yes. Recipe for disaster come dawn? Yes. Located on Parsons Blvd. just South of the GCP, Jackfruit Garden is a modest Bengali eatery equipped with all of the fluorescent lighting and blasé décor that screams curry me home! Seriously, just reach into the fridge, grab a deliciously tart Mango Lassi, check out the spread of curries of the day, do NOT pass on the Lamb Biriyani(make damn sure you get raita too), order as many naan — they’re fresh and a buck each — as you need to mop up the sweet n’ spicy Chili Chicken and head back to the crib to Netflix and chill. The owner/manager here is entirely too amiable and confident in his food as he made suggestions for my next visit which will probably [edit: has been] several spice cravings on a regular basis since we met. Also, please be nice to my sweet Bengali auntie who now serves us on our frequent visits. They’re open until midnight most nights.

Just left this charming place! Great service and delicious food. Its a buffet style Indian restaurant, where all the foods are on display and you pick what you would like to eat and the owner plates it and brings it out to you. The owner/server was very nice, and even allowed my picky co worker to sample different items before deciding on her meal(which she loved and ate every last bit of it) I had some basmati rice with goat curry, channa and a little bit of saag. It was all great and very well prepared, I liked that the food was not too salty. The Saag was my favorite, it was so creamy and rich! This is a great little spot, looks like it has recently opened and is clean and bright! Meals were a great price, $ 12 which included a discount for hospital employees!

The owner was super friendly and accomodating. And the food was very tasty… finally some decent Indian food in Briarwood! Wasn’t too adventurous the first time around… only tried the tikka masala and caulifower, but they were good yardsticks for what’s considered good Indian food. Looking forward to trying everything else on the menu. Love that they are open late, but wish they had a website.
