This restaurant isn’t too far from our house so its our go to spot when we crave soul food. Everything we have had was delicious except their apple crumb pie. It was dry and had way too much cinnamon but that is minor. The fried catfish was fried to perfection and not too breaded. Grilled shrimp were a nice size and flavored deliciously. The ribs were so good! Seasoned great, enough sauce and the meat was falling off the bones! Hmmm hmmm My Family and I Absolutely LOVE the potato salad! Candied yams are also good. The mac and cheese is also delicious. One time the top was a little overdone but once I got past that the inside was still nice and cheesy. Prices aren’t bad we will definitely continue to eat here!

First time I’ve ever had to leave a bad review, but here it is. After placing a $ 50 dollar order to sample some food for my company’s Xmas party, I made my way all the way across town to pick up my food. Here’s what blew me away, as I stood at the counter after paying and waiting for the food to get bagged, the cashier and cook had the audacity to try to figure out if my eyes were real or not as if I was dumb or deaf. Possibly they just didn’t care. How unprofessional, in the meantime I didn’t even get salad dressing in the bag for my jerk salad. Probably because the cashier was too busy getting the cook to glance up at my eyes to make his decision on the realness of my eye color, smdh! Food was okay, not spectacular at all. Definitely not a nice portion for a $ 12 dinner though for sure. Very disappointed, needless to say my office party is getting catered by another restaurant. To the staff, respect your customers instead of talking about them in their faces. You don’t know how much business you may be losing because of it. Maybe being a business owner myself makes me feel a bit disgusted by bad service. To settle your curiosity, yes they were real lol! So was the rude awkwardness at the counter.

This place is super tiny. There’s only 2 tables and some counter seats. The food is great though. We love getting their wings. They have different flavors and they make it fresh to order so they come out crisp. We ate there once with our 2 sons and when the guy behind the counter found out my older one liked grape soda, he gave it for free. We’ve never had a problem with service there. My only complaint is they are super slow. I’ve called ahead to place an order and it’s still not ready when I get there. Stars off for that.

This review is long over due, It’s down the street from my house so I get it whenever i’m in the mood for some soul food. souther fried(fried chicken) is finger lickin’ good. jerk wings are really good and they’re spice! Mac n’ Cheese pretty good. Just add a little pepper. Greens really good. Potato salad so good! The prices are pretty reasonable! 6 Wing dinner with two sides for 9.50 isn’t too bad! The only thing I will say is the wait time can be annoying. Delievery takes about 30 minutes(I guess) but when you go inside it’s still 30 minutes. I mean it’s made fresh so that’s understandable but when my stomach is growling it’s not understandable.

I stopped in here after looking for a new soul food spot not too far from home. I checked Unilocal and saw the mixed reviews for this café and went to test the waters. I didn’t have high expectations since the reviews were in the middle about the food. There was a young man behind the counter taking the orders and he was very pleasant, patient and professional. I arrived around 2:30PM and there were a few people waiting for their order. It’s a small restaurant and not a huge selection of food items. I mostly saw different flavored wings as the main meat available. I settled on the jerk chicken wings, mac and cheese and yams which was $ 9 and averagely priced. I had a nice size serving that was enough to eat for two days which I love. I saw a few slices of cake on top of the counter but none of them caught my eye so I didn’t order desert. While I waited I perused the pictures on the wall of the different celebrities who visited or just knew the owner/manager of the restaurant. There were some impressive photos on that well too. The jerk wings were okay and I knew they wouldn’t be great since I didn’t see a BBQ grill for that smoky grilled taste that I love. The mac and cheese and yams were good. However, they seemed to be missing that«wow» factor to make it taste better than most places«sides.» Overall, the food was«good,» they still have an «A» rating in the window and if I was in the area and wanted to grab some food I would order again.

Very unfortunate to have a soul food spot in queens with shitty attitudes and service… i travelled from long island because i follow them on ig and have seen all the good looking platters they post daily. Arrived at 9pm and was told there was several things they didnt have due cleaning service that was scheduled tonight and i was told they were about to close… PSA if you clise at 10pm and its 9pm you are not about to close… the gentlemen that was going to take my order advised they were closing early. When i mentioned their hours stated 10pm he said dont believe everything you see… totally confused. he had a bit of an attitude that i asked why they were closing early and because the only sides available were fries and collards i decided to leave. Wont be returning… another black establishment bites the dust

My friend and I had extremely high hopes for our meals and were extremely disappointed to say the least. The Mac and cheese was not good, it was pretty much only macaroni — not sure where the cheese went. The fries were soggy and the fried shrimp was very stale and chewy. I thought maybe the dessert would save the day but the watery banana pudding was just as equally bad, if not worse. I was expecting to become a regular but we will not be returning.

Went there a month ago with some coworkers, Cashier don’t smile(big turn off) had the fried whiting, I don’t know what the hell that was. Potatoe salad, collard greens frozen, mac& cheese straight garbage. The people who eat there cannot possibly have any taste buds for real down to earth soul food. This was disgusting, threw my whole lunch away.

Small but clean business which has an «A» rating which is a plus in my book, it was the reason my friend and I decided to patronize this restaurant. There’s a wall of pictures of the owner with celebrities which is cool, I guess considering I came in to order food and not gaze at pictures as if I were in a art gallery. I purchased food for my friend, she ordered southern wings with macaroni and cheese and candied yams. She originally wanted collard greens but the server/cashier said there was no more. Collard greens to me in a soul food is something that you just don’t run out of. My friend was pleasantly pleased with her food, she said that it was really good. My friend called me to tell that the restaurant forgot to put her banana pudding inside with her order so I called the business and explained what happened, my friend was able to swing by and pick it up. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to someone looking for soul food.

Great food but the cashier is kinda annoyingly rude. Other than her the food is really good.

I recommend the grilled chicken salad, but ask the counter girl for 2 dressings. :)., My first time having the pepper steak tonight and it was yummy. The best buffalo wings for late night cravings!

The customer service here is very lacking. You basically have to force the cashier girl to treat you like you’re not doing her a favor by ordering food. Likes: FRIEDCHICKENWINGS FRIEDFISH FRIEDSHRIMP YAMS Not so good: COLLARDGREENS MACANDCHEESE I would’ve been more forgiving of the food if the customer service wasn’t so terrible.

Well I came in here because i was thinking about soul food the whole week and I didn’t want to go all the way to harlem(why not support my borough). I walked in and their were a couple of people waiting, I picked up the menu and decided to get the six buffalo wings and Mac & cheese with yams, the young lady advised me that the yams had pineapple in them I honestly got worried but she let me taste them and wow! Loved them the buffalo wings have a strong smell I’m not complaining just letting you guys know.

Until today I give this shop two stars mainly for the lack of consistency. The first few times I went I thought the food was OK. My family and I thought the price was reasonable. However with each trip the quality gets worse. I have has the beef ribs ugh lots of sauce bones and a little meat. The whitting is ok no taste but seems fresh. The pineapple yams um have potential but seem thrown together. I have had presentable smushed yams but still tasty… no thank you. The BBQ wings are OK. Mac n cheese is good to me… Cheesy. My husband enjoys the smothered chicken. The collard greens seem watered down. Like at one point it was tasty then it got warmed over again and again and again… Turkey burger run and hide! I really try to support businesses in my area but perhaps only the people on the walls get the consistency. :/ For now I’m going back to Amy Ruth’s.

Hooray I found a replacement for Foster’s which sadly shut down. For what reason, I’m not sure but after trying several other soul food restaurants, Burgandy’s will make a great replacement. The store awning from outside looks like it’s been up since the 70’s and from the looks of everything, they have been here since the 70’s. This is truly a mom and pop shop with what appears to be the whole family who runs this business. It’s like having your grandma cook for you, that is if my grandma actually knew how to make delicious fried chicken vs fried rice. Anyways, the prices are very reasonable here, definitely food for the masses where you don’t have to lose an arm and a leg just to pay for lunch. I ordered the fried chicken dinner which came with two sides and bread. The fried chicken was awesome, super juicy, the breading stayed on, and salted just right(not overly salted like some places). Although I wish it had a little kick like Popeye’s spicy wings, I’ll take good olé fashioned original wings too. The candied yams were outrageously good and I highly recommend ordering them. The mac n cheese was pretty standard and literally like your mom would make them, not a creamy cheese but chunky cheese with non al dente noodles. The cornbread was super crumbly, and literally broke apart as I bit into it but loaded with butter goodness. They may not deliver to the Navy Yard, but I’ll sure as heck drive here to pick up lunch!
