THISPLACEISENORMOUS. Love the stage, it’s pretty big. I came to watch a show here and I had an awesome time. Bummer there’s no bar, YESYES, I realize it’s a Christian place, which I have no problem with. I really love how spacious it is and how the building looks. I enjoyed my time here and believe you should at least pass by just to check it out.

I love this place! I come here all the time for Chirstian concerts in Jax. I’ve been here too many times to count. And seen soo many bands Disciple, Fireflight, Decyfer Down, Skillet, 7eventh Time Down, Petra, KJ-52 just to name a few. I had one really intresting thing happen here back in 2009. In that the band Disciple was coming and I mentioned to the band on Facebook that there was a song they played 2 yrs prior at Orange Park Methodist that brought me into christian rock and closer to God. I told them that I was going to Iraq in the coming months and that this was the last concert I was going to be at til I came back. After Disciple got to MHT that night right in the middle of their show and newer songs. Kevin the bands lead singer shouted out, «This song goes out to a solider thats about to leave for Iraq» I was center floor when I jumped, THAT’S ME! and the band dedicated that song to me. That was after I got embarrassed by everyone looking at me after I was called out. LoL The name of the song was: «Shine Down» Overall I’ve had many great nights here. Over the years it at times gets a little weird as there seems to be more and more High-schoolers that come here. Better here that off doing stupid stuff though.

Thanks to Flip and the crew, the MHT rocks! They’ve got an awesome place there(if I don’t say so myself). You def need to check it out(and I agree with the other reviews that it needs to be shouted to BUYEARPLUGSFROMTHECAFE. Maybe one of these years the sound guys will realize just because they have diminished hearing that it doesn’t have to be so loud that it knocks the plaster off the walls(which it has done in the past). Check out all of their upcoming shows at and follow them on facebook.

I was recently invited to attend a night of concerts at the Murray Hill Theatre at the request of a friend who is in a Christian Rock band. Although I’m not into Christian Music at all, I ended up having a fantastic time, and really enjoyed the evening. The theatre itself is a really old-school movie theatre converted into a music hall. The outside has a great look and feel to it, it reminds me of the opening to the«Thriller» music video for some reason. Only paid ten bucks to get in –great deal– and you can tell the cashier which band you’re there to see. Once inside, there’s a café to your left, although I didn’t get a chance to stop in, but I did notice mostly everybody sipping on coffee and munching on small snacks. Should’ve bought a bottled water, but I was okay drinking from the water fountain located in the lobby. The actual theatre itself is a bit rundown, but you can’t expect a lot of bells and whistles from a place that is run by volunteers strictly to give younger kids a place to go where they’re free from drugs and alcohol. The stage is quite large, and the floor offers plenty of places to check out the show. You can get right up next to the stage and rock out, or chill out at one of the tables located in the back. There’s also a large area right near the doors where you can hang and get a good view of the stage, and also talk to the bands that play, as they have tables set up selling their CD’s and t-shirts. Very cool area, as you can sit and chat with the artists, and they’re very personable and willing to sign autographs, take pictures, or just talk about anything. As others have noticed– this place can get LOUD. Especially with the bands playing the night I went– they were rockin’ it out, and I decided to park myself right next to the speakers. I spent the remainder of the evening deaf in my right ear, but it was definitely worth it. Overall– great place to go, especially for the younger Christian crowd. No drugs, alcohol, or smoking allowed, and I noticed everyone there having a great time, meeting new friends, and enjoying some music. The bands were way above anything I expected– sounded terrific, rocked hard, and were cool enough to hang out for the rest of the night and chat and talk about anything, especially Jesus. Had a great time, and although I’m not a bible-thumper, would definitely go back anytime to catch a show, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, fun, night out in a good, clean atmosphere. Nice work for a bunch of guys running this place out of their own pockets and volunteering. Stop in and support them!

I met my husband at Murray Hill Theatre. For that reason, Murray Hill gets 5 stars from me. :) I used to go here every weekend. These people were like family. It’s a good and safe place for teens. If you’re not a teen, you may not enjoy it so much. But, it’s better to be here than to be off doing drugs with some crazies in a basement somewhere.

I love old theatres in general, so you’d really have to work hard to convert one into a music venue I didn’t enjoy. Murray Hill is no different. It has a great feeling to it, cool old-building style, and great views of the stage. They have seemed to focus a little more on local and regional acts [or maybe just smaller nationals that I’m not hip to] lately and I haven’t heard them do a «omg-i’ve-got-to-go» show in a while [at least, to me]. The only gripe I have is the sound. I don’t know if they just need to spend more money on a better system or what, but it can sound pretty trashy at times. And for the small size of the place, it can be insanely loud. It depends, though, because I’ve also heard it sound pretty good. Maybe it just depends on who is working the board. While not my favorite stomping grounds at this stage in my life, Murray Hill is an excellent [and relatively safe] venue.

This is a good spot to watch Christian bands. However, the only caveat is – bring or buy earplugs(50 cents in the café). The acoustics are very echo-ey, from which I’m sure I killed a few hearing cells that day. It is a small music venue similar to Freebird Live, so you can have an intimate experience watching the band. As for the food in the café. I didn’t like the chicken cordon blue I ordered. It tasted like microwave food. Their cappuccino was ok.

I used to frequent the venue as a teenager. I wasn’t into drugs or any of the sort, so it was a great(and safe) escape from parents on the weekends. Always new and interesting music. I remember seeing Relient K and other pop hit bands before they went national. Quaint place that always brings back memories. The cappuccino milkshakes are the best in the café. They also have a music selection of primary Christian music in the music shop. Been a while since I’ve been — so I AM relying mostly on memory.
