Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q

Hey Bono’s! I was actually the fourth group to walk into this place on the day of your opening! So you know I’m kinda a big deal haha! Your food is always excellent you can’t go wrong with the brisket, and the service is always great. Plus its always nice to get groceries, ready made dinner and pool chemicals all in walking distance! Keep up the good work!
Suggestions– Order any of the combo meat platters.

Worst pulled pork I ever had dry and flavorless need new cook. Clean nice restaurant it is a shame they can’t cook.

This is my favourite bbq spot in Jax. Not only are we lucky to have Bono’s in Jax (I sure did miss it when we lived in Orlando), but I’m lucky to live near this particular one.
This location is always extremely clean and we have always had exceptional service! Friendly servers who make sure to keep drinks refilled and get the orders correct.
I always order the same thing which is the chicken and ribs combo. It comes with your choice of two sides and texas toast. The chicken is juicy and has a nice smoked flavour. The ribs are nice and meaty, and the meat just falls off the bone… so tender.
One of my favourite things about Bono’s is their sweet and tangy bbq sauce. It has the perfect amount of sweetness to it without being overly sweet. I like it so much that I always have a bottle of it at home (they sell all their sauces by the bottle… but, of course, it’s free in the restaurant).
The baked beans are a favourite of mine. A hint of sweet and smokey to them. They also have meat in them which makes them all the better. I also highly recommend their fried corn-​on-​the-​cob as a side. Hubby likes it so much he always gets a double order of it.
They have different specials each day of the week and they also have random specials. So always check the board when you walk in. The last time we were there they had two meals for $ 19.99 with two free banana puddings. That was a really great deal.
Because Publix is located next door, parking can be a pain.

Ordered beef brisket sandwich with fries and the sandwich was not fulfilling, fries soggy and cold, and the price wasn’t worth it. I love barbecue, but not this place.

Every time we have gotten takeout food from this Bono’s, there has been a problem (at least 10x). We keep thinking it will get better but it doesn’t, and now we are done. You name it, it’s happened to us– wrong food, missing food, cold food, bad service… the list goes on. Most recently, one of the styrofoam containers had melted and melded with the burger inside of it (??), not to mention the burger was completely charred black when it was supposed to be medium. We drove all the way back up there (15 minutes from our house) only to have the lady at the window be flippant and the manager say «sorry we’re busy» and hand over a $ 5 gift card. We love Bono’s on Merrill Road even though it’s a bit further, we’ve never had a problem there and that’s where we’ll be going from now on.

Two foot dreadlocks cooking food, guess hygiene got trumped by political correctness. Place is a shit hole with horrible food.

Went there about month ago for the first time it was good & service was great ! The server was fast & friendly! Food great !

Great food and good service. Fall off the bone ribs and to-​die-​for smoked turkey. Got the BBQ Cheese fries. Awesome. 3-​Meat Combo was great. Others at the table had platters and sandwiches. All were good they said. We all left stuffed. Would recommend!!!

This is a really good barbecue joint! The food is cooked wonderfully and is full of flavor… Orders come out relatively fast even when the restaurant is busy.
The service is good… They keep drinks refilled and constantly check back to see if you need anything.
My favorite here is the turkey… It is really tasty! The only issue I have with this restaurant is the lack of an all you can eat option…

I have always eaten at the Bonos off of Merrill road. I’m happy to see one finally on my side of town. We ate there right when it opened, and we all know, isn’t always the best time to try out a new place. I was happy with everything. The ribs were delicious and the the staff was very attentive. Overall a great place to eat. We will be back.
