Freelon’s Restaurant Bar and Groove

It’s been about maybe 4 or 5 years since I’ve been to this establishment. (I live in Nashville). But whenever I visited Mississippi and felt a mood to step out, Freelon’s would usually be my choice and I prefer going on a Friday night because the crowd is older and people are actually dancing! I don’t do ratchet, thugs with pants sagging, women dressed terribly acting unladylike, etc… ha ha. I’ve always had a good time the few times I came here; never paid a cover, and men would actually volunteer to buy you a drink. The last time I was here, I do recall the female servers/​bartenders being a little ghetto acting and rude. I brushed it off. I give 3 stars because things do change and it has been awhile. Me and some relatives will be visiting Mississippi for the holidays, may plan to come here and we’ll see if it’s still popping.

Whenever I come to Jackson being a JSU alumni I ALWAYS make at least one trip here so many good times spent here I hope u guys never close BEST CLUB IN JACKSON !!

Ok so where do I begin…
It’s Memorial Day weekend and I’ve been hearing about «Freelon’s» the ENTIRE time I’ve been in MS (which has been about a month and some change). So I decided to go. Here are the results:
Entry fee $ 10 (not toooo bad but I didn’t pay) — CHECK
Drinks free for ladies before a certain time, and $ 10 afterwards — CHECK
Very Loud ratchet music (all the Dirty South hits + Top 40 Hip Hop/R&B) — CHECK
People ACTUALLY Dancing (not usual in MS area oddly enough) — CHECK
Ratchet as hell — CHECK
Great time dancing, chilling, and grooving to the music — CHECK
My only con was the smoke. Lighters were flickering everywhere and suddenly my nostrils and eyeballs were filled with all types of smoke. Not to mention my clothes were done for. I left with a bit of a headache but overall it was a good time. I’ll be back! I recommend to go at least once.

I come to Freelon’s whenever I visit home and I always have a good time. The drinks are good and it’s a rather spacious place. I never deal with long lines and I usually park in their lot so I don’t have to walk far to get there. It’s a great spot for 20 and 30 somethings to hang out… depending on the night it may be a younger crowd but usually when I go which is on Saturday nights the crowd tends to be a mixture of mature and collegiate people. It’s really the only club atmosphere I go to when I’m in Jackson.

the club management and security are unprofessional. security guards roughed up patrons in v.i.p. instead of acting civilized and helping the patrons exit the club. they slammed women to the floor and pushed them down onto glass tables causing cuts and bruises. ***do not i repeat do not spend your money at an establishment that does not train their security force to treat people like customers especially when the patrons have not cause an act of violence***

Freelons definately gets 4 stars in Jackson MS, but anywhere else I don’t know it would be more of a 2 star establishment. The drinks are slow and only so so. Freelons brings out the biggest and best crowds in Jackson it’s the sexxxy trendy club.
One thing you have to be careful about is that they sometimes it seems to me that some of the women allowed in are underaged. A few looked to me as if they were high school juniors and seniors.
I recommend parking at Freelons and then walking over to Birdland before going inside Freelons, that way you can enjoy a good drink and anyone you meet at Birdland is definately at least 21. Then walk back over to Freelons and enjoy your night. There’s security in Freelons parking lot so you don’t want them to see you go to Birdlands cause Freelons has limited parking.

Are you in the Jackson, MS area, and looking for something to do? Go to Freelons. It’s the best club for ages 21 – 25. Every time I go to Freelons there is a long line. The JSU students really love this place; or rather it’s the only place decent for them to go. I haven’t been in about a year but the music is good, $ 2 drinks before 12am for ladies, and about $ 10 for admission. I don’t go to clubs anymore, but Freelons is definately the best thing going on in Jackson, MS so far…
