I went to Sams Family Dental in Jackson Heights 82^nd street for a checkup of a cavity in one of my back tooth that was still not hurting but I wanted to get it fix before it got worse. Just to make it clear again I was not in pain when I arrived to «Dr. Patel» office. Multiple X-​rays were taken to find out what the problem was (X-​ray machine is used as a toy exposing the patients to radiation from the multiple x-​ray shots, because they never get it right. Lack of experience maybe) He concluded that I needed to get a root canal & crown to save my tooth. Paperwork was sent to the insurance company for approval and coverage of my treatment and of course most of it was not covered because I didn’t need it. This, I found out some time later after when I got a letter from my health insurance stating that most of the work he was doing was not necessary (of course all Dr. Patel was behind was the insurance money and mine) However, it was too late treatment had already started and indeed I was paying money out of my pocket. Treatments were concluded after 5 long weeks and guess what? I ended up in pain. I gave it a few weeks ignoring the pain thinking It was just part of the healing process. Then few weeks later I decided to go back to Dr. Patel meaning more x-​rays and let’s say a new diagnosis. This time he «prescribed» very strong antibiotics without even writing a prescription (just a simple call to the pharmacy downstairs) that really messed up my stomach. Yet, took the whole treatment hoping I would get better but once again nothing. After several weeks of phone harassment from Sam’s Dental secretaries to go back for a routine cleaning; I mentioned about my problem and this time I just stop hearing from them no more phone calls, no follow up. Went to see Mr. Patel again and this time I was the last patient to be seen, no patients were around and as expected no clear answers from him, just that he was not going to take responsibility and that he was not going to give me my money back, something that I was not even asking for, I just wanted to believe that this was really pain free dentistry. I am very upset with this clinic. It would have been easier to pull out the tooth. It would have saved me money and time and most importantly; I would be without any pain. I would never recommend this facility to anyone and I will advise anyone who is or feel that had been trick by this Doctor to speak out and ask for receipts which they will never give you. Please be very careful if you are a patient already, because if they messed up. They won’t take the blame.
