Dinner wasn’t extraordinary. BUT, the chocolate mousse was, as was the service.

Awful experience, food didn’t take long to come out but theres a reason why, undercooked rice, cold meat and raw chicken. I only give it two stars because they have nice drinks. I wouldn’t come back here ever again.

I’ve been to many Colombian restaurants but this one by far is the worst, from the service to the food. Especially the food, my husband and I ordered 2 different steak orders and both were absolutely horrible. OMG, even the coffee was horrible. Never again !!

So glad I found this little spot while visiting NYC! It was definitely worth the 40 minute train ride from the city. I highly recommend their Maracuya Margarita. It’s soooo good! Also, if you plan on ordering their Picada, be ready to split it with a group of people. To give you a better idea of how much food is included, I was there with two other people and we were not able to finish the SMALL Picada. Overall, I’d recommend this restaurant to everyone. Great atmosphere, great drinks and great food!

No. On a busy Saturday afternoon I was just strolling down Roosevelt looking for a good place to have lunch with my family. Everywhere we went had a 20 minute wait until we reached here. I’m happy that there was no wait so I guess the 1 star accounts for that plus their ambiance & décor. But food wise? No. No way. Their skirt steak was bland. Literally had absolutely no taste besides the chopped up cilantro they just sprinkled on top. The beans? So many questions that I really don’t require answers to because I won’t be returning. The grilled chicken? I pretty much had to drench it in their«hot sauce» which wasn’t hot at all might I add. You want good Colombian food? Pollera Colorada! Makes me sad I didn’t go there in the first place. Never again.

Killer sangría. The Best yuca fritta and arepas con queso I have had in a NY Colombian restaurant. Great pollo y pescado.

My fiancé and I had dinner here on a Friday night. The atmosphere was lively and fun, with live entertainment and good people. I had steak with capers and mushrooms and the flavors were wonderful, however My steak with a bit dried out. My fiancé enjoyed his Entrana and was cooked well done, even though he asked for medium well, I guess its easy to mess up meats when cooking it almost well. Next stop, dessert. We had flan because its one of my favorite things, and that was not a let down, it was filled with flavor and left me wanting more. A lovely establishment, just need a little more experience in cooking meats.

I love this place, it has a lovely ambiance and very friendly staff. There is karaōke in the back, with plenty of space for large groups. Food is awesome, definitely worth trying out.

went here on a whim and i’m glad I did. Service was fast and food was delicious! I would go back. Sadly they didn’t have hot chocolate at the time which their menu said they had but that’s alright. Nothing is perfect.

This place is great! It is delicious. I had the Huevos revueltos without the rice, and this was the first time I didn’t have to ask for ketchup. I also had the strawberry pancakes, which was amazing! Better than iHop because there were strawberries INSIDE the pancakes!!! I definitely recommend the coffee with milk. It is so good and they refill it that way, steamed foamy milk and coffee, not just coffee. And if I were a vegan, I would ask to have food with no animal because the beans have pork, but there are options with no meat too. I give it 4 stars because the service was slow, like we waited 20mins for our food slow. But besides that it had the best food so far on this trip. This place is delicious and affordable compared to another dinner we went to in Manhattan, this one was great. Would definitely recommend/come back to! Just for the food.

If you’re Colombian and your thingy is small, then you’ll be delighted to know that there is a restaurant named after you. The Small Colombian. Yes, most of your fellow countrymen are large and in charge, but if everyone were large, then large wouldn’t be large anymore. Embrace your miniature-ness and come here and enjoy a Plato Tipico. What to get: Plato Tipico What else: We’re small, that’s all, and we’re having a ball I wasn’t extremely impressed by this little restaurant on Roosevelt in Jackson Heights. There is so much competition and there are so many options, that I thought paying nearly $ 15 for meal and having it be good, but not great, was a bit disappointing. Judging it without thinking about where it is, what it is, or how much it costs, it easily scores a 4 star because it did taste good. it was some flavourful rice, some veggies and lettuce, a Colombian Flank Steak(I think it was Flank, I’m not good when the steaks are high), and an egg on top of it. I think my main issue was that it was a bit bland, a bit dry, a bit average. I would have loved it to be spicy, or smothered in sauce, or something. But if this is the national dish of Colombia, then who am I to argue. I will say, though, that most Colombian food I’ve had has been orgasmically good. Arepas, the burgers, the dogs(a bit over the top for me on those last two but still awesome), and especially the drinks such as the Raspado at Las Delicias Bakery across the street, or the best drink ever — the Cholado at Jugos Prontito y Algo Mas in nearby Elmhurst. Anyway, really lovely service, cute Colombian waitresses, and if you’re a huge fan of Colombian food, well worth checking this place out. But for the price and for how bland it was, I’ll have to keep it to a 4 today. And if you have to pee all the time, and you’re female, they will let you use their bathroom. And they will crown you«La Pee-queen of Colombia.»

This place used to be da BOMB! when I was a kid(that or my palette was unrefined lol) now this is a hit or miss joint. You know how you feel better about being adventurous and ordering the daily specials at certain places? Yeah this isn’t the place. Stick to your basic steak with rice and beans and you may get a consistent-ish solid plate. I keep coming back because this is my familia’s staple(always on rotation) option. They’re lucky they have my parents as loyal customers cuz I’m not going here on my own. This place is a PASS for me– on to the next one Unilocaler! There are better options on(& slightly off) Roosevelt!

The drinks are awesome! Food is delicious and the service was amazing. It was really warm where we were sitting, but everywhere else was fine. I ordered the sirloin skirt steak, needed more flavor so I asked for chimmichurri and it was great after that!

The food is terrible. I had beef roll with mushroom sauce, and found: 1. The mushrooms are canned ones, and the sauce is extremely salty. 2. The meat is tasteless. 3. They put Russian salad and the main dish in one plate, and the mayo and sauce mix into a terrible mess. The atmosphere and service are good though.

I recently went to have dinner at La Pequena Colombia, had a great time. We got there just in time for happy hour which is Monday thru Friday from 4pm to 8 pm; half priced drinks who can beat that in Jackson Heights. I ordered myself a Frozen Sangria and my friend ordered herself a Frozen Margarita for $ 5. Delicious and strong I must say! Dinner was delicious. I had Salmon Afrodiciaco and my friend had the Parrillada de Mariscos everything was so scrumptious ! We had so much food we had to take home. Can’t wait to go back the service was great and the waitress was attentive. We had such a great time we are coming with a bigger group of friends to get a buzz at happy hour! Lol

Honestly, the food and sangria here are delicious! I only took away one star because of the service. I was here for a birthday party of 12 and given large groups, the service is typically slow. But I mean this was a bit painful. The server maybe came around less than half a dozen of times to check on our drinks or food. Everyone had their salad but me. There wasn’t enough dressing and we had to ask for seconds. I think if I went as a smaller group, the experience would have been different for sure. I’m willing to go back and give you a second chance! especially for some rice and beans! You can check my pics for what I ordered. I got the mountain platter which was a whopping $ 15.95! That was enough food to feed me at least two meals! no joke! And the calamari was also really good! So was tres leche! Yes I will bring friends back and hopefully I can say service was better! Side note — this place does not charge a mandatory group tip despite us being a large group. Very nice!

I’ve passed by this place so many times and always thought it was a little too fancy for Jackson Heights, but it is so welcoming and non-intimidating once you go there, that I’d love to go back again. Also, it’s a really nice and large space perfect for hosting a birthday party or celebration. It was a Tuesday night and there were six of us and one child and we were seated by the live singer(Fernando), and it was a really, really fun time. And guess what? We were there to celebrate someone’s birthday!(Also, I take full credit for suggesting the location, ha!) The service is really friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious with serving sizes typical of most Colombian restaurants, which is to stay, large and in charge! We ordered some apps(calamari and fried plantains with guac). I definitely thought the plantains were excellent and for being fried, they were not greasy at all. As for the calamari, I think my fave preparation is a bit more battered and with lots of fresh, ground or cracked pepper. Their version was a bit lighter, and not as flavorful, but still perfectly acceptable. As for entrees, everyone ordered something different, and it was a rainbow of yummy Colombian fare. I got the saffron rice with shrimp, which wasn’t what I expected(it looked more like a paella without all the other seafood in it), but I actually still enjoyed it very much. Overall, the food is slightly on the salty side, but with the nicely sized portions and well-executed dishes, you really can’t pick them apart because you’re guaranteed to enjoy your meal. We had dessert too, and the chocolate mousse cake was fabulous. I really can’t stress enough how the live entertainment contributes a lot of joy to the overall experience at La Pequena! The resident singer, Fernando(catch him on Tuesdays and Saturdays) is a truly gifted vocalist. He did a bunch of mid-tempo and fast songs, and engaged with our group and looked like he was also having a genuinely good time. Whether that’s his sheer performance skills, or an authentic reaction to how much fun we were having, there was no way of telling the difference. I just had to learn a little Spanish so that by the end of the night I could tell him, «canta como un ángel». I mean really, watch out Enrique Igelsias or Cristian Castro! Someone give Fernando a recording contract. he’s primed for it. The restaurant is great in that, they don’t have a cheesy Tip jar for the performers, but if you — like us — appreciate the singing, you can just slip a little something directly to them on your way out. Needless to say, they accept credit cards, so there’s an added bonus!
