I had the chicken noodle soup and chicken parm. The chicken soup had big chunks of chicken and was very flavorful. The chicken parm was thin and cooked to perfection. The red sauce was just the way I like it. Everything I expect in a down-to-earth Italian restaurant.

So I walked in and was immediately welcomed by 3 different people which was quite nice! I sat at the bar and they had 2 beers on tap, Peroni & Brooklyn Lager as well as a full bar. There are 4 comfortable bar seats. For appetizer I had the grilled octopus which came on the plate with salad. Both delicious. For dinner I ordered gnocci qhich, by far is the best I’ve ever had. I will be back!

My family and I have been going to Armando’s since they were on 37th Ave, since I was little. I made reservations for Mothers Day this past Sunday and have never been so disappointed or disgusted before. The food had absolutely no taste… we ordered stuffed mushrooms which felt like we were eating boiled mushrooms, our spaghetti was soaked in olive oil to the point we could not eat it, the red sauce was so watery it was horrible. That’s only a few of the things. On top of bad food the service by our waiter was horrible. His answer to everything we asked was«no». He also had the nerve to charge me for a plate we never got and wanted to tell me that he did bring it to the table. The owners excuse for everything was«you should never judge a restaurant on Mothers Day because we’re very busy» Busy or not that is no excuse on how to run a business. I was so disappointed with the amount of money we spent at this place, never again will my family or I spend a dime here. Completely ruined our Mother’s Day!

What a great place! Jerry, the owner has a great deal of charisma. He welcomed my Meet Up group as if we were familly. From the appetizers to the entrees to desserts. Exceptional cuisine — Jumbo shrimp francese nig portion and fresh brocolli in olive oil and garlic, the raisin Italian bread was crispy andhot and fresh. The beet salas was to fie for! What an amazing dining experien Ambience, Great service Wonderdul food and Fine winw Jerry is an intelligent, loving and welcoming person. lots of good luck in this new location/ Mt group and I will definitely return.

Armondo’s saved what was almost a horrendous Valentine’s Day this year. After our first restaurant in Astoria decided to not tell anyone of their limited Prixe Fix meal, we decided to come here. And what a great decision that was. We were greeted and seated immediately. Not exactly a romantic setting, but at 8pm after a botched Valentine’s Day first attempt, we didn’t care. My girlfriend and I were served complimentary bruschetta which was good. And then both ordered seafood pasta dishes that were excellent. All fair priced, including the wine. We ended with a bottle of champagne to celebrate a great(and accidental) decision to come here. Will definitely be coming back.

Relocation Improvement Prior to their location change I’ve had mixed experiences at Armondo’s, but now that they have moved I believe they’ve taken a turn for the better. Food: Consistency is a mild issue at Armondo’s. While the dishes are typically delicious, none-the-less there have been times myself or a fellow diner received a steak medium well rather than medium rare or the clams are overcooked. Despite being overcooked the dishes will have excellent flavor and in regards to the steak, maintain its tenderness(similar to Trieste). ALWAYS listen to their specials! While their regular menu has interesting items the specials usually go above and beyond the menu in some way, shape or form. I’ve had the lobster ravioli and scallops with risotto on two different occasions when dining there. The specials were cooked to perfection and many of you know how difficult it is to cook scallops without being completely undercooked or cooked to the texture of rubber. Desserts are basic, but delicious. My biggest recommendation would be the pecan tart. I don’t understand how they fit so many tarts into the smaller dessert. The portions are not large, but they are rather filling leaving just enough room for some good dessert. Service: The service is very friendly and more experienced than most. Well past the 25 year mark for our server. Happy to talk to the clients if it isn’t overly crowded. Ambiance: They did a nice revamp of the former restaurant(Trieste) that was located there previously. They decluttered the window adding more natural light. The restaurant is also much easier to spot from the street with a visible sign with good lighting. The restaurant itself is rather small, but can handle larger parties. I would personally recommend coming in with a group of 4 or less since the ambiance gives more of a romantic feel, than a lively(party) one. It keeps the overall feel of Trieste. Overall: 3.5 Stars Prices are standard for a mid-upscale Italian restaurant. Reservations are not necessary, but I would recommend making them. There are minor inconsistency issues at times, but the food is pretty delicious none-the-less. Always ask about their specials for the day, you will not be disappointed. Celebrating an anniversary, birthday, or just because? It has a nice ambiance for smaller groups and couples dining. The overall environment is rather quiet and reserved. While the ambiance is classy with casualness, I recommend avoiding wearing short/tank tops etc. to maintain the ambiance.

Italian is my very favorite type of food to eat aside from my traditional hispanic meals that I frequently eat with my family. When it comes to Italian i am very critical because i expect it to be amazing, not Italy amazing but worth what you pay. SERVICE Possibly one of the best environments I have been to in quite some time. I came here with a friend and he loves this place and the people are a main reason; I agree. The owner came to our table to chat and see how we were doing and talked with us about the menu. The waiters did not come around extremely often but the restaurant is sized well enough to be able to call them when needed. AMBIANCE Very simple and cozy. It is not a huge restaurant but there are enough tables to accommodate several parties. Very clean and the bar has several drinks to offer. Aside from the menu you can order just about anything at the bar which is nice. The most unique thing about this restaurant is that there is a vespa hanging over the bar; YUP, a real life vespa chained to the wall hanging. FOOD Now this is where I gave the restaurant 4 stars. I ordered the penne al la vodka and it was good but it wasn’t the best i had. I didn’t think the noodles were cooked enough for me, another 3 minutes would have made the mean perfect. What was left over for the next day was amazing after two minutes in the microwave. I would definitely recommend this spot for a date/gathering between friends.

It was our first time at the new location of Armondo’s. It was nice to be back after the fire on 37th avenue. We had a Sunday lunch that included Hot Antipasto, Salads, Scallops, and Ossobuco. All of the food was excellent. It is good to have a reliable restaurant in the neighborhood.

Armondo’s in Jackson Heights has long been a favorite of our family. We were devastated for the owners and the neighborhood when its long-time location was destroyed in a fire, and delighted when Armondo’s reopened at Northern Boulevard and 73rd Street on Valentine’s Day 2015. Food and service at the«new» Armondo’s if anything surpasses the original. Specials and appetizers are more imaginative, zestier and often lighter. Our recent dinner was made up of specials. The meaty portobello mushroom appetizer was draped in an addictive garlic sauce, and the burrata salad with asparagus and arugula was refreshing. The lobster ravioli was distinguished by its pink sauce. Osso bucco appears weekly, the toothsome meat falling off the bone. Its sauce, tweaked by a squirt of lemon and a sprinkling of pepper, is a treasure that can’t be improved upon. Desserts can be selected from the pastry tray. The tradition in our family is to split a piece of the moist and delectable chocolate cake. Even better, Armondo’s continues to offer complimentary sambucca with your espresso, a traditional gesture of hospitality that should be revived by more establishments. Service is solicitous. By meal’s end you’ll feel like a family member.

I want to begin by saying I love Italian food. I remember the taste the old armondo’s restaurant had, and I have to say this fell flat in comparison. The food tasted like it was recently unfrozen and thrown together. The only reason this even gets 2 stars is because of the good service of the place. Food is very underwhelming. Disappointed. Really hoping it changes to stand up for the iconic Italian restaurant of Jackson Hts.

My colleague and I were looking for a neighborhood place to go to dinner and found Armondo’s. We didn’t know about the previous location and were pleasantly surprised by the happy luck of finding it open and well. Our cocktails were perfect(Grey Goose Martini up with olives). We had a wonderful 2012 blend red with dinner(I can’t remember the name but it was featured last night), and enjoyed the appetizer special of Grilled Portobello with roasted red pepper, melted mozzarella on top and a balsamic glaze. We had the Kale salad and an Arugula salad that was featured, and they were delicious. We both ordered a chicken special which was breast, in a wonderful wine sauce with mushrooms and capers. It was moist, perfectly prepared and delicious. When we got there it was somewhat quiet at 6:30 but filled up for hours and we ended up talking and enjoying our meal, which was not rushed by any means by the staff but«in a good way» — over the course of three hours! Such a nice surprise to find on Northern Blvd in Queens!

Armondo’s? Should be Armond-NO’s. My wife and I had been going to Armondo’s on 37th Avenue for over 30 years. About three years ago, I went and had one of the worst meals of my life. I ordered an app(can’t remember now what it was) and eggplant parm. The eggplant parm came, and the sauce was burned, while the center of the dish was frozen. I politely told Jerry about this, and he offered to comp my drink order(half a carafe of crappy house red). I declined, telling Jerry that he should comp my entire meal, and that I’d never return. Well, I heard that they’d opened up again after the devastating Bruson Building fire in what used to be La Trieste. I’d also heard that they had a new staff and a new menu, so I decided to give them a try. What a mistake. The night I went(during their first week), the place was mobbed. While I was waiting to be seated, I had a martini at the bar. I have to say, it was a great martini. They use double cocktail glasses, and gave a good free pour of Grey Goose. At $ 10.00, I thought it was a steal(hell, you’ll pay $ 9.00 at a dive in Queens, and $ 20.00 or more at an upscale place in Manhattan). After about 10 minutes, the waiter told me my table was ready. I took my martini, and sat down. The waiter recited the specials to me, and left. I looked at the menu, and decided to go with two specials: the meatball app, and the pork chops and peppers entrée. I also ordered a glass of(still crappy) house red. The app came(along with my wine), three beautiful meatballs, somewhat larger than golf balls, covered in red sauce and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. When I cut into the first meatball, I was thrilled — it had the texture of house-ground beef! I took a bite, and that’s when the meal started to go south. The meatballs were undercooked and cold in the middle. The sauce tasted as if they had opened a can of crushed tomatoes and poured it on top. I didn’t complain, figuring I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. Then came my «pork chops.» The plate had two slices of pork loin on it that were about 4 inches in diameter, and about 3⁄8 of an inch thick. These hockey pucks were overcooked(I’d ordered them medium), and were covered in sauteed red and green bell peppers. That’s it. No side. No pasta, potatoes, veg. Nothing. And the cost? Thirty-six bucks. That, my friends, is not only insanity, it should be illegal. After that, I ordered a cup of American coffee, and a grappa. While finishing those, I requested the check. The bill was… ready for this… SEVENTY-EIGHTDOLLARS! That’s without the martini, for which I paid cash at the bar. I presented my AmEx card to the waiter, and sat there waiting… and waiting… and waiting. After about 20 minutes, I signalled the waiter over, and asked what the problem was. She told me that the modem was down, and that they couldn’t process cards. I apologized and said that I didn’t have enough cash on me, but that they could use the old-fashioned paper slip. She told me they didn’t have any of those, and said it would be just a few more minutes, and asked if she could get me anything else while I waited. I said that, yes, they could BUY me another grappa. She looked panicked, and spoke to Jerry. He looked annoyed, but nodded his approval, and she brought me the drink. After another 20 minutes, I asked what was happening. She said the machine was still down. I offered to give them my phone number, suggesting that they could call me when the machine was operational again. Jerry agreed(he never called, but I was charged). Bottom line: Martini — $ 10.00 Tip — $ 5.00 Dinner — $ 78.00 Tip — $ 20.00 Total: $ 113.00 You can get away with that in Manhattan, but not in Queens, on Northern Boulevard, surrounded by car dealerships. Never again!

So glad that Armondo’s is back. The fire that took the original location was a terrible disaster. The location is great. Very clean and nice atmosphere. The staff are very professional and greeted us and always made sure we had everything we needed at the table which included informing us of the specials of the night. The menu has shrunk considerably but that is okay and might be my only complaint. I ordered spaghetti Bolognese which was delicious, but would have ordered the manicotti had I seen it on the menu.

It has been a genuine pleasure to «return» to Armondo’s at their new location after the terrible fire that closed the restaurant in 2014. My husband, his mom, and I have enjoyed dining with Jerry and his terrific staff for over 35 years. More recently, our kids have loved dinners out at Armondo’s where the food is delicious and hearty, and Jerry treats every customer as an old and welcomed friend. We were delighted to be at the lovely new location, with its light and modern décor, to greet the old staff who are integral to the ambiance and overall quality of this homey, special place. The food is just as delectable as ever. My husband, Jim, had the chicken parm, and reported that it was as yummy or better than ever. My mom-in-law and I had the chicken cacciatore, spiced up, as we always like to have it. The sauce was a bit thicker and had slightly more zesty flavor than I recall, thereby enhancing the flavor of the whole dish. We shared an arugula salad with grilled asparagus and fresh mozzarella, with lemon vinaigrette, which was very tasty. Their bar is as good as ever, with a lemon martini that hit the spot. Dinner was rounded out well with the excellent chocolate mousse cake and cannoli. As always, it was terrific to catch up with owner, Jerry, and we so admire his and his wife’s fortitude in bringing this wonderful eatery back home to Jackson Heights! Looking forward to the next dinner!

It is so inspirational that Jerry has come back with a vengeance and opened his home away from home restaurant less than one year after a fire devastated the original one. The atmosphere is comfortable and congenial and the food is consistently good as is the service. It’s a testament to Jerry that his staff has returned from bus boy through bartender. Great place to go after a long day of work to have a cocktail and traditional Italian meal. Welcome back!

Before the fire, while on 37th Avenue, Armondo’s served great antipasto, minestrone, seafood, Chicken Scarpariello Francese and killer cheese cake with a smile. I’m so glad to hear that Jerry and his family are back in business in the neighborhood. If you haven’t been, go now. I’m coming back tonight.
