Don’s Diner

Went on a Tuesday night/​Wednesday morning. Was in the mood for some REAL food after work and had heard of Don’s having soul food ²⁴⁄₇. Ordered turkey wings and collard greens with a side of rice. It was DELICIOUS and they gave 3 whole wings when most establishments only give you 1 or 2 max. Decently priced. My only complaints are the fork placed at the table for me to eat with was dirty with old food on it. Kind of turned me off for a minute. And also the service was meh. Not really attentive. My server was having a million conversations throughout my WHOLE visit. Keep in mind it’s 2am and I’m just wanting to eat and leave. I had to physically get out of my seat and put my coat on to signal I was ready to go, give me the check! I asked for a refill of my ginger ale TWICE to no avail. Turned what could’ve been 5 stars into about a 3.8 and I’m not hard to please. Would go back again though.

It’s more like a buffet or cookout. Every food you can think of. But lacks flavor. Cabbage, dressing are sweet like sugar. Oxtails were good.
Roast turkey was dry. Rice was crunchy. I was referred here but I won’t be coming back

Dons Diner Is Pretty Good. Affordable, Delicious Food. The Buffet Looked Great. I Ordered The Whiting For Breakfast, With Eggs, Home Fries, Sausage. Good Sized Portions, Had To Take Some Home, Couldnt Finish. Prices Really Were Great. The Waitress Stood Over Me Though, While I Was Writing The Tip, I Found It Rude. Other Than That, Id Def Come Back !

Don’s Soul-​food Buffet is a delectable sensation!!! They offer a wide array of chicken, beef, pork, turkey and even a few seafood items. They are well stocked will Mac and cheese, yams, potato salad, greens, cabbage, corn bread, stuffing, wings, fried fish, okra, oxtails, turkey wings, ribs, and so much more. This awesome buffet is offered on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday’s! Hooray for Don’s!!!

I really do love this place Don’s Diner of course? But the end of last month me & my mother was ordering a baked lasagna & the next day when she came home it made her vomiting/​throw up because she was still sick form 2 weeks ago last month. And to me I didn’t like the baked lasagna also because they don’t even had the favor into it. But the rest of the food that my father & my brother’s ate they taste so good. I mean at Don’s Diner they got some good food. But the buffet it’s too expansive with the soul food & all of that. I’ll give it a 2 stars because you want to know why because at Don’s Diner some of the food like the baked lasagna they couldn’t added more favor that’s all I can say?

This used to be one of my favorite spots when I would hit all the bars and clubs but since I have left that lifestyle alone I don’t visit much. I can’t tell if there open or closed but when open the food has been great!

I love Don’s diner. The way they cook soul food makes me feel like I’m back in the south. Don’s is the only place in town that I know of where you can get a «soul food buffet» with everything from braised Turkey wings to Mac and cheese, the staff is friendly and even if you don’t get the buffet on the weekend the kitchen is fast. It’s the jewel of Irvington and there are not many honestly. Kudos to Don’s. Try it you’ll like it. And mmmm the pie.

I used to come here all the time back in the day and have sooo many good memories here. I don’t know but the service wasn’t that great tonight. Don’t know if they were short handed or what. You should never make the customers feel like you’re doing them a favor by taking their order

I left Don’s Diner an hour ago, and I think my stomach is about to explode. My friends told me that this establishment is fairly reputable, but I dissent. Maybe they just had a bad night or different chef? I ordered the beef quesadilla and I could drink the grease dripping from my meal. I had one slice of it before I called it quits. On the upside my boyfriend seemed to partially enjoy his chicken parm, however his salad looked dry and old and the olives tasted funky. Our waitress was very nice though, she offered to take the quesadilla off my tab. She certainly made up for my dire dish and the odd ambiance.

Called 3 days in a row asking to place an order for delivery and every time they say they can’t deliver that day for some reason yet they say clearly here that they deliver, I don’t get it.

My dad is a regular here. I ordered a western omlete with beef bacon and it was actually an amazing breakfast sandwhich. I really liked it. Can’t wait yo try all the things on their menu. I also had a strawberry smoothie. It was not good at first but once it sits for a while… it is actually amazing!

A perfect find. Though the name says diner they have more than that. Breakfast, soul food and more.
Buffet items: mussels, shrimp & broccoli, oxtail, collard greens, tilapia, soul rice and black eyed peas and of course more.
Oh and of course free refills.
Service: quick and friendly.
Quality: solid five stars.
Looking to return on my next visit.

We came from out of town and were looking for a good spot to eat, we found it! Everything was good, service, food, atmosphere… it’s a neighborhood diner so don’t complain cause it’s not fancy enough for you, if you want fancy go somewhere else, this is real home made cooking with real people, exactly what you for a hangover ;)

Always been good to me. Never had an issue with food or service. The only problem is there’s not enough parking! Besides that it’s a good place.

We love this diner a good place to eat what to expect a pretty cheap and the quality of the food was really wonderful very generous portions I recommend people come in here and try it the hospitality there in the staff is wonderful big smile the polite and I definitely will be coming back to the diner

Great food and service! There aren’t many places where you can sit down and have a fresh cooked meal for two adults for under $ 20! Definitely a diamond in the rough… Will be trying the weekend buffet next time.

This diner has a great selection of food and very friendly staff. The food is also pretty inexpensive.

Greek chicken salad! Is on point

They’ve updated the décor, and it really looks nice. The servers are friendly, but they aren’t doing anything special.
The food is all just fine. Nothing special, but certainly hit’s the spot.
They do eggs, wraps, soups and sandwiches pretty well. Their salads are pretty boring, and the dressings are abysmal.
People seem to love the soul food options, though they look just ok to me. I have to imagine there are better options around for that kind of food.
Still the best diner in town, though to clarify, it’s the only diner in town. You could do worse for a meal in town (see the IHOP). There’s really no reason to travel to Irvington for food. It’s a perfectly fine option if you’re in town for any reason, like work or such.
