Atmosphere: It was fairly quiet at noon on a Sunday. The staff were friendly with their service and answered my questions. They have an extensive list of vegetarian items, including bhajis/shaaks/subzis, which was very impressive! Food: I tried the sprouts chaat and it was good. Nothing to rave about though. It was priced at $ 3.50 and enough for me to fill satisfied. I look forward to trying some more of their food! I loved that the gentleman working in the back had a hair cap on! If that says anything about their hygiene, I am definitely impressed!

Good and flavorful vegetarian food! So tasty! Dosas, rices, chaats, dessert, chutney bar, free soup! Really affordable and filling! Amazing cheese naan that comes with yogurt sauce! Nice staff! Love the peanut and coconut chutneys best! Red onion and a squirt of lime juice makes all the the food so much tastier! I would go back and try the desserts and garlic naan and I’m curious about the cheese dosa!

Chaat at its best in Dallas. Ali tiki chaat, Dani pure paneer curry with various Aloo & Gobi roti was lip smacking delicious. Their pan was just ok. Food was out quick. Enjoyed a simple vegetarian lunch.

One of my fav places to try lot of vegetarian chat/snack/Dosa etc food. Food tastes good, made fresh. Friendly people. Price to quantity ratio is good. I have tried a lot of options here, but vada pav and samosa chat are my fav.

Excellent food, excellent choices. Lots or varieties. You get to choose the spice levels. Even coffee and tea has different levels to choose from. Very reasonable prices too.

DEEEELICIOUSPANIPURI!!! Though the plaza itself looks a bit sketchy, Taj Chaat House itself is a nice spot to get some good Indian food. The dishes here are strictly vegetarian, and though we didn’t eat entrée’s here — the food overall looked delicious. My mother in law brought us here today for some gol guppay appetizers before lunch — and wowwwwza it was well worth it! I got mine spicy and I was satisfied with the kick and how refreshing they were. Yummy!

This is truly amazing Indian food. Forget about characterizing it as «vegetarian.» It doesn’t matter. The food is so awesome, so awesomely seasoned, that you even if you’re a confirmed meat eater, you won’t miss the meat. I promise. I’d tell you what I ate, but I honestly don’t know. I needed help with the menu, and the guy working as the cashier was extraordinarily helpful. He basically learned a few facts about what kind of foods we like, then planned a lunch that was delightful. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly prepared. Perfect. I was a «regular» here years ago and stopped coming for some reason I’ve forgotten. Now that I’ve rediscovered it, I’ll certainly be a regular again.(It doesn’t hurt that my gal thought it was as amazing as I did.)

If you’re non-Indian you won’t be welcome. I’m non Indian so I took a star off for … Let’s call it service. Don’t get me wrong, my order was taken & food was made, but not without snarky comment that included the language«you people» & general attitude(including when he came over completely annoyed that I didn’t pick up my food and it was their buzzer which wasn’t working). And the food wasn’t that great, the place is not nice, and price is average… So all in all not worth it with so many other great options around. I had the masala dosa. I read a review saying they loved the sambar & it was their favorite. It was average in flavor & in a buffet style bowl. Good you can have all you want, but nothing special.

Over priced for cheap and bland food, worse environment and service, just the worse Indian eatery I have ever been to in Dallas. Never coming back.

I’ve been coming here for about two years and thought it was time for me to write a review. There is one friendly guy that works there who seems to always be there to help me navigate through the menu and find what I’m looking for(you order and pay at the counter and come back to the counter to pick up your order when it’s ready). The food is always fresh in the customer service is good. P. S. This is a very casual, come as you are, restaurant. If you’re looking for authentic Indian food at a good price… come here. You won’t be disappointed.

Writing this review as I sit at a chaat restaurant in Ohio(Bombay Chaat) that just served me terrible chaat. Used to eat at Taj every time I visited my family in Texas. I miss it SO much. Only place to get pani puri that compares to the pani puri-wallahs of Mumbai. Gonna have to plan a visit to DFW soon. PLEASE open a location in Michigan!!!

This place is AUTHENTIC Indian food, which you can quickly tell by the fact that my friends and I were the only non-Indian customers in the restaurant. Most of the«normal» dishes I order at Indian restaurants weren’t on the menu so I trusted Unilocal(and the cashier) to give me and my friends suggestions. First we had Dahi puri which are little crunchy pastry shells filled with potato, chickpea, onion, and chutney and sauces. They are cold, and I was surprised by how sweet they were! I had ordered them spicy, but didn’t actually get as much heat as I’m used to when I usually order spicy at an Indian restaurant. Either way, these were a tasty start for the table. Masala dosa is like a big folded over crispy bread(you can order it soft or crispy, and I would recommend the soft because it looked better after I got mine) and it has a tasty potato serving in the middle of it. You can also use chutney on the bread which is yum. Pav bhaji was by far my favorite thing, it was potato and I think beans and reminded me a bit of dahl. THIS one actually packed a little heat when I ordered it spicy and it came with little discs of fried bread which was fantastic. I ended up eating almost this entire plate by myself because it was too hot for the rest of the table. Most definitely would order again! The staff was very friendly and it wasn’t very packed at lunch time on a Monday. Don’t let the appearance fool you, this is delicious and worth a second trip!

My husband and I LOVE experimenting, and we had been looking for a good Indian place. Once again Unilocal came to our rescue! Upon entering, we realized we were super overdressed(it was on a Sunday). But nobody seemed to care. The guy at the front was awesome! We had no idea what to order or where to start but he was so helpful and ended up choosing for us. By the way, there is no A/C(only ceiling fans) so be prepared. It wasn’t too bad for us. I won’t even name what we ordered because frankly, I forgot. But! Our taste buds were very happy! The dahi puri was so fresh and delicious. Naaaaannnnn, you already know! Yum. Just look at the pic and feast. It was a cool experience and can’t wait to go back to take our friends & fam.

Heard a lot about Taj and believe me its worth being here… The pani poori is good chat is ok. But paratha and paratha combos are good… Also tried some south indian and i love the way they give the option to choose sambhar between Madras and Hyd’bad Need to improve on ambience and Air Condition

This place has the best vegetarian Indian Street Foods(Chaat), and the prices are really reasonable! We usually get their pani puri, which have just enough kick in the chutneys. Also, we usually get their samosa chaat, which has a large size samosa in the cut into pieces. Other things this restaurant is know for is their huge dosas, papdi chaat, masala dosas– everything is tasty! The staff is very nice and friendly as well.

Have tried garlic naan and paneer butter masala. Best naan in the city! Delicious curry. Will definitely visit next time for dosa. Pani puri is just average.

You have to try a dosa, which is like a big crêpe, filled with a little bit of whatever traditional fillings that you order with it(potato, chick peas, masala spices). Excellent, healthy food. Not too expensive, unless you’re really hungry and want to chow down. Very polite staff in a slightly hectic work environment. There are two complimentary, self-serve soups to enjoy, as well as many homemade chutneys. My dinner companion and I had a filling dinner involving many à la carte dishes for about $ 32, but these types of foods are considered more like snacks, I think. Try it for a snack, and have a whole meal, if you like. That’s what we did. Clean, neat, and the menu is about as understandable as they can make it, for non-Indians… but I don’t like eating off of styrofoam plates, folks.
