I am only writing this review so that Shirley does not do to someone else what she did to me. I am a natural. I have not had a perm on my hair in over 10 years. I delighted in wearing my hair natural. I even told Shirley this. During the shampooing process, Shirley put a texturizer in my hair which completely DESTROYED my natural curl pattern. After shampooing my hair at home, I discovered that the hair on the back of my head was completely straight, one section in the middle was slightly straight, the top was kinky and the sides were straight. Needless to say, I had about 4 distinctly different textures in my hair. I was no longer able to style it as usual and I was angry, upset, hurt and felt deceived. I went to Shirley believing that I could trust her to do my hair and to respect my desire to stay natural, but she deceived me and completely messed up my hair. I had to end up cutting all of my hair off and starting my natural hair journey all over again!
I would not recommend Shirley’s salon at all.

I got a Coupon book and Styles was one of my options. I tried it and made an appointment a week out. I loved my trim on my hair — and Shirley even straightened my hair after my cut. Loved it! Great intimate place and a delight to talk with too!

Shirley is simply the best.
I’ve had many stylist over the years & by far she is the best of the best.
Any hair color, texture, length style you can imagine — Shirley can do it!

The woman who owns this store is an incompetent business owner. I called and clearly made an appointment for a Saturday at 3:00, yet when I walked in for my appointment (after driving 25 min to the place), the woman who works here said «Oh, I had you in for yesterday. Can you come back at 5?» Seriously?! First of all, I clearly said I wanted the appointment Saturday, this was no miscommunication on my part, as I work full-​time Monday-​Friday. Second, how hard is it for her to call and confirm an appointment the day before? Every hair salon I have ever been to has confirmed my appointment previously, all but this one. And of course, it has to be with a woman who doesn’t listen properly. Clearly, I am very irritated, as now my hair looks like crap and I wasted a portion of my day driving around for no reason. All in all, regardless of how talented this woman may be with hair, she certainly needs to learn how to communicate with clients better.

Last minute appointment on a Monday when most salons are closed. Shirley fit me in and did a fantastic job with my hair! I have super curly bi-​racial hair and it is not easy to tame. She quoted me $ 45 for my mid back length crazy hair which is with the Unilocal discount– and that’s a pretty standard rate. She started my hair on time was professional throughout– she asked if I wanted products in my hair and was very thorough! I think she went over my hair 2 – 3 time to make sure every strand was in place! She even curled the ends just the way I like it.
The location is a little off the beater path and the actual place fells like you’re in her living room– it’s cozy, spacious and room for her to do 1 person at a time — which I enjoy because it’s like growing up and going to our family beauty salon.
Shirley was knowledgeable and we had great conversation.
