Robert Half Finance & Accounting

I was contacted on ⁵⁄₃ by Angeline at RH in Irvine regarding a remote internal position that they had open. She requested that I reply and send her my resume. I did that right away. Two days went by, I emailed again asking her to confirm that she received it — no response. I called, left voicemails — no response. I emailed again — no response. I called again, left voicemails — no response. Today, I called again and was put through. She told me that she was so glad that I called. I told her that I was still waiting for the email from her with the position information and she curtly told me that she emailed me last night. I told her that I didn’t receive it. She went on to tell me how to present myself for the interview that I had and when I tried to interrupt to tell her I thought she had the wrong person (coding position) she argued that she did not. I asked her to verify the email address and when she did it was not mine! Then when I tried to explain why I was calling, she was very short and told me that she would email the job description. That was a 10am this morning, it is now 4pm and I have not received it. I called 2 more times since that I get «she’s in a meeting» or «away from her desk». The girl at the desk could care less when I try to explain to my frustration (nicely :))
I’ve used Robert Half on the employer side many many times to fill positions in previous companies I’ve worked for — but now, being on the job seeker side, I really doubt that I would use them again due to the very unprofessional way that I’ve been treated. If the job is no longer available, fine — let me know.
It just seems that professionalism in business is a thing of the past. I hope that someday Angeline doesn’t find herself searching for job and experiencing the same kind of treatment that she provides.
The sad thing is that I really was interested in the position…

I have had issues with recruiters in the past. They call you for a job, bring you down, take all of your information, and then you never hear back from them. Well Mark Nelson at RH called me up and left me a message. I called him back and left him a message… three times, without getting a call back. A simple thanks, but no thanks would have been good.

When starting my job search, I started with Robert Half because of reputation as being one of the top placement agencies. This office most definitely does NOT live up to that expectation!
I interviewed in January (2010). Half way through my interview, they discovered that I want a full-​time position, so another recruiter would need to talk to me, buuuuuuuuuuut none of them were in the office. Why they didn’t assign me to when when I first scheduled the interview, I don’t know. So I was given the card for the woman I would need to work with, and sent on my way, being told that they were running about 3 weeks from initial interview to placement.
I called and e-​mailed the lady who’s business card I had for two weeks before I got frustrated and called asking to talk to her supervisor. I had to leave a mesage for him too, as he was conveniently out of the office when they found out the reason for my call. Next thing I know, the lady has e-​mailed me, saying she’s sorry she hasn’t replied sooner, but she’s been busy. If I want a job, I should just check out their job postings and e-​mail her if I see one I’m interested in. Then her boss called and said the same thing to me on the phone. Oooooo… Kayyyyyyyyy…
I diligently looked at the board daily and e –mailed if I thought there was a position I was qualified for. Weeks would go by, then she would reply and say the position was filled. Eventually I received an e-​mail that she was being promoted (!?) and my new contact would be a guy E. I tried to set up an appointment to see him, but he didn’t have any time in his schedule.
A few weeks later, I got a call from a temporary placement agent saying he had seen my resume and wanted to schedule an interview. I went through the whole story with him of how I’d already HAD an interview, and I was looking for direct placement, in the 70−90K range, to which he replied he wasn’t the one that needed to be talking to me.
I had a second interview with the agency last month, with a nice agent, S. I’ve e-​mailed him several times regarding positions I’m interested in, but have never heard back. This last time I e-​mailed him, I received an out of office reply from his co-​worker. Still haven’t heard back…
I’m really trying to figure out where their good reputation came from, if this is the type of service they give to all their job applicants.
On a side note, I’ve learned from talking with other placement agencies that they will not even consider you for a position if they dont’ have a recruiter that’s met with you and can vouch for you. How am I supposed to apply for a job if the recruiters keep leaving? I would think their notes are in the system and they can work from that, but that hasn’t been the feedback I’ve gotten lately. It’s very dissappointing as a job hunter!!!
