Desperately needed some coffee, ordered the Americano, was given a tall cup of black coffee. Cream? Sugar? Nada. For $ 3.95 I was not impressed at all. Mom had the pomegranate tea, there’s about half a dozen flavors that u can smell before order. Again, was expecting loose tea leaf not a Lipton-like teabag for $ 3.50. Would love to buy a mochi but they didn’t look too appealing nor fresh. Expensive lesson learned.

I came here with my group for late afternoon snack. While we were eating«barista way,» my friend chewed what appeared to be a small piece of wood. It kinda looked like a piece of vanilla bean. When my friend brought it to the staff, the guy said its a part of decoeation for vanilla bean ive cream and«it can happen.» …uhhhhhh…WHAT??? ok fine. I understand it can happen, ok? Thats not the issue, jerk! The staff here doesnt even possess a common sense and decent courtesy to say, «I’m sorry.» When you come to this Mochilato, do take a look before you order anything that has decoration pieces around the ice cream because they are not gonna feel sorry for you if you chew or chock on something that was not a part of your order

This is a great spot for a quick dessert. The mochi ice-cream never fails, but it is quite pricey at $ 2/piece. They also offer Beard Papa’s at this location, which is a plus! However, I did not like that their utensils and napkins were not readily available for the customers. I had to ask the front counter each time I needed a plastic knife or some napkins. Parking is plentiful, so you won’t have an issue here.

Good spot to fulfill your sweets craving. I came here with my mom and sister and shared six of the ice cream mochi. We got cookies and cream, chocolate hazelnut, mango, toasted almond, pistachio, and coffee. My favorites were the chocolate hazelnut and toasted almond. My mom ordered the sweet potato latte, but didn’t really like it. We also got a cream puff courtesy of Beard Papas. That was actually my favorite thing of the night. The mochi is a little bit pricey. $ 2 for each. It’s also a $ 5 minimum for card purchases.

It was interesting to find a Bearded Papa inside this Mochilato location. I’ve been to the location in Little Tokyo and I can say this place looks much bigger and nicer! They also have a selection of korean food if you are not interested in just desserts. I got the green tea and red bean flavored ice cream mochi! Much better than the ones you buy at the grocery stores. It is a nice place to relax and chill, they have very big tables which are great for study groups! Located pretty close to UCI so I can see many students coming throughout the week.

Great service! The environment was so fresh and inviting(also a kawaii little shop). I went here for the first time today and ordered four mochis: strawberry, pistachio, mango,& mint chocolate chip, for two dollars a piece. They were exceptional and very sweet. I also got two cream puffs, one with strawberry filling and the other with vanilla. I personally enjoyed the strawberry the best because it was not too overwhelming and accompanied the regular shell well. We ordered the Japanese style shaved ice too. It consists of a green tea ice base and some red beans infused throughout the dish. It was rather good except there was a white cream-like filling in the center which we found repulsive. Overall, it was a nice little shop with good prices and treats so definitely want to come back!

Mochi & Gelato! So yummy! I had the raspberry and pistachio mochilato! We also had the shaved ice and it was delicious! Very cute atmosphere. Would love to come back here during the summer time and eat all of this outside

A nice little dessert place that offers a variety of stuff with a little Japanese twist. Something cold — they’ve got mochilato(essentially a mochi ice cream but ice cream is gelato) and gelato. I had raspberry cream mochilato and it was so good! The temperature was just perfect — a right amount of gooeyness of mochi but still cold enough to keep everything together and not melting in your hand as you hold it and eat it. Something not cold or hot — they’ve got regular traditional Japanese mochi and some with a little California twist. I got peanut butter mochi just so that I could try it. It almost tasted like they’ve flavored regular shiro-an(sweet white bean filling) with powdered peanut butter. There was no regular gooeyness you’d expect from a jar of peanut butter. It was interesting for the first time. I’ll probably stick to more traditional flavors next time. — they’ve got beard papa here. I had an original with matcha filling. I remembered it to be really sweet last time I had it but it really wasn’t! Pretty good stuff! Something hot — they serve stump town coffee here. They do all sorts of seasonal interesting lattes like nutella latte but I’m more of a purist and don’t like overly sweetened espresso drinks so I stuck with a regular latte. Well it was pretty good, what you’d expect from a stump town coffee. Pretty fun place with a lot of option. No problem with parking or seating inside(mostly communal style large tables and benches, also some couch seating toward the back of the store). I’m giving 3 stars because I think the concept is kind of fun, great options, clean place, friendly staff but the food itself was not super incredibly impressive. It’s good and I wasn’t disappointed but just not impressed.

I had dinner at Boiling Point nearby and stopped by Mochilato for dessert. It’s located in a big shopping center next to Mitsuwa and Daiso. I don’t know how it’s affiliated with Beard Papa’s but it’s also sold inside. They have a wide variety of flavors of ice cream-filled mochi. They are pretty small and sell for $ 2 each. I went with a strawberry and pistachio. I really liked the strawberry. The pistachio was just okay; very strong pistachio flavor.

+Lots of space to park. +Clean place. +Mochilatos are awesome here. +They have beard papa’s cream puffs. It’s so damn delicious. +They also sell Stumptown coffee. It gets warm inside but that’s what I prefer since I’m always cold. Located by Daiso!

Located in an Irvine strip mall on Culver/Walnut, Mochilato offers a variety of desserts. 1. What do they sell here? — Beard Papas cream puffs — Shaved ice — Mochi — Gelato-filled mochi(mochilato) — Gelato — Waffles — Drinks — Yoku Moku cookies and other cute gifts 2. What should you get? The shaved ice is a great dessert to share and comes in various styles(Japanese Style, Italian Style, Barista Way, Mochilato Way). The gelato here is not especially noteworthy on a stand-alone basis, but the mochi filled with gelato is quite tasty. The shop offers a number of mochilato flavors, from fruity to creamy varieties. The mochilato is a small dessert, that, in just a few bites, can adequately fulfill a dessert craving. If you’re looking to satisfy a sweet tooth, Mochilato has something for everybody.

Cream puffs were dank. The cream was light and you could hella taste the vanilla bean. The bread itself was really light and flaky and it was only 2.25! They also sell macrons and macron gelatos as well

I have been to mochilato a couple of times, though I vaguely remember the first time. I think that the gelato is pretty good, probably not the best of the best, but pretty good. I really like the nutella flavored gelato. I love that I can taste the hazelnut flavor in the gelato and the chocolate/nutella pieces throughout the gelato. I am pretty sure I have had one of the mochilatos before, but I can not remember.(though I am eager to go back and get one)

I don’t know why this place only has a three and half star. My gf and I went to this place in the afternoon out of random craving for sweets. We decided to share a banana Nutella waffle and she ordered cream puff. I also ordered a coffee. Banana Nutella waffle was absolutely yummy. I’m a dessert type of person so I like pretty much anything that’s sweet but when my gf destroyed it and actually liked it, this place gotta get 5 stars from me. Girl at the register was very nice and helpful which made the whole experience even more delightful. Thank you.

Came here yesterday afternoon and was having the strongest sweet cravings ever. First timer and this place was exceptional. My boyfriend and I had the banana Nutella waffle that was the yummiest thing ever! The ladies behind the counter were really polite and sweet, I had a cream puff(the regular papa one) and that was SO delicious. They have free wifi, glasses of water on the side, gelato, plenty of tables and a section for utensils I think. I will definitely come back and take my friends here for the waffle dessert: D and! I didn’t get a stomach ache. 5 stars for me.

The Italian Shaved Ice from Mochilato is decadent, yet light. I small scoop of vanilla gelato hides under a mound of shaved ice dressed with sweet strawberries, kiwi, mango, ripe banana, sweetened condensed milk and natural strawberry syrup. It is, quite possibly, the best shaved ice in OC. The Original Cream Puff and Chocolate Éclair Cream puffs at Mochilato also impress. The crusty and light puffs are filled with mild and milky crème anglaise. The Mochilato House Dumplings are gigantic… about the size of your palm! They are filled with pork, beef, chives, onions and bean sprouts. These hefty dumplings felt odd in my mouth. The filling had a rough consistency, due to massive amounts of chopped onion and chives. The shape of the dumpling and the pasta were nice. However, it was not enough to redeem the humble dumpling. Stick to the sweets at Mochilato. Find«real food» elsewhere.

Came here late on a weekday night and it was surprisingly crowded! Thankfully, we were able to snag a table inside. They have some outdoor seating as well. Between the 3 of us, we decided to share a Mochilato-style shaved ice. The shaved ice was ready in about 5 minutes, and it looked delicious! Everything was beautifully arranged, and you get a good variety of fruits: bananas, strawberries, kiwis, mango, etc. The green tea shaved ice is topped with red bean and mochi, and there’s a decently-sized scoop of vanilla bean ice cream in the middle of it all. For me, the shaved ice was just okay. The fruits were good and I loved the red bean and how the flavors complemented the green tea shaved ice very well, but the ice itself was not smooth at all, and by the time we got to the bottom, we were just staring at a huge ice chunk. So overall, the flavors in the shaved ice were good, but the texture was not that great. I’d recommend going to Class 302 instead. If I do come here again, I think it will be to try their mochi!

There are a lot of Asian hidden gem café or dessert places in Irvine. I tried the green tea and berry gelato one time that was refreshing and delicious. Be sure to try the mochi ice cream especially the plum flavor if you just want to try one first. The coconut mochi ice cream is not just straight coconut they add the coconut flakes in it to give it more of a coconut flavor that still is light flavor. They have many flavors of mochi so it gives you a choice to try different flavors every time you visit if you’re adventurous in trying new things. Also they have Beard Papa’s cream puffs, shave iced with fruits, red bean and other toppings. I haven’t tried their drinks just desserts. They have some Korean and Chinese café food too. This is a better place for just desserts and drinks then you can always try the food to see if its good too. Great place to chat with friends just the seating may be limited unless you go there later in night on a weeknight.

I would normally refer to dessert that has ice cream wrapped in mochi as «mochi ice cream». But here it’s gelato instead of ice cream, hence — Mochilato. Oooh, it took me a couple repeats of the name for this concept to sink in. It’s a pleasant experience. The staff working here is happy and friendly. They have many flavors of Mochilato to choose from, I ended up getting 4(strawberry, green tea, pistachio, chocolate hazelnut) which was way too many for me. If you don’t like mochi, you can get just gelato. They also had Beard Papas which are cream puffs, light pastries filled with custard. I had one of those too, yikes! All the dessert I had was good, pretty unique place as I don’t know many places where you can get this kind of variety. Also nice bonus is lots of seating and free water served in plastic jugs. Korean style for sure. Try it out and have fun here.

I was contemplating whether to give this place a rating of 3 or 4. But in my opinion, I rated this a 4 because they didn’t really give me any reason to score them lower. Pros– 1. Customer service was good 2. Offered samples 3. Have a wide range of flavors and products such as Beard Papas, which is quite hard to find. 4. Parking is good Cons– 1. Quite expensive but yet they are a business and they are the only ones near the area that offer this variety of assortments 2. No like membership stamp card — come 10 times and get next one free 3. The gelato is just plain gelato, you could literally go to the Japanese grocery story in Tustin and get the same products.
