Dr. Marlene Yacoob

Dr. Yacoob and her staff are very unprofessional. My husband and I specifically sought and and paid cash for our visit. We were looking for a great primary doctor who understands MTHFR. We called the Laguna office and the staff was so helpful and friendly. They gave us all the information we needed and we faced over all the medical records in advance.
Day of our appointment at the Irvine location. We were met with the most disrespectful and unprofessional front desk staff. Then Dr. Yacoub had in waiting in the room for over 45 minutes. When it was time to meet with her, she rushed us and she did not even look at the information we sent over. She said she would look at it later and get back to us.
We called two days later because the prescription never got sent through. We asked why she had not gotten back to us and if she could please. Still 7 days later and no word back. I will be writing an email to her as documentation. Dr’s should t be able to take our money with no help that can’t be our new normal.

Dr Yacoob is excellent and worth the wait! The front desk staff remained calm & courteous despite the many patients who were impatiently waiting, with more coming in as walk-​ins. There is a good reason you may have to wait over an hr to see Dr Yacoob (although my wait was 15 minutes bc I schedule my appt 1 month in advance). She is thorough, informative, does not rush you, and has excellent bedside manner. She cares about her patients and that’s why almost everyone I listened to who was a walk-​in, only wanted to be seen by her. Please remember, the front desk has a lot to do, yelling and complaining to them every minute you have to wait will not make their job easier, and it will only prolong the process for everyone there.
I’m so glad I found Dr Yacoob, my husband now sees her too.

I have been seeing Dr. Yacoob for many years and after having my kids at a pediatrician I brought them to her as well. I have recommended a family member who hates doctors and even my ex-​husband. Everyone loves her. She takes her time, is compassionate, and is more knowledgeable than any doctor I have ever been to. She remembers me, asks questions about my life since my last visit (remembering details that haven’t been written down) and truly cares about me. She doesn’t judge, and is conservative when she needs to be, yet proactive when things are serious. Dr. Yacoob has been through so much with me and has always been there to reassure me. I lived out of town for a few years and missed having her as my physician. Don’t let reviews of her staff stop you from going to see her or you will miss out on a doctor that you might only find once in a lifetime.

I wish I could contact Dr. Mir or Dr. Yacoob directly, or wish that they read these reviews on Unilocal.They are one in a million doctors but their staff is making so many people leave! Honestly the best doctors I’ve ever met. Such a simple thing to fix, either fire their current staff or bring on more help, not worth unhappy patients that they are losing! I am so bummed but after a year or so of dealing with their horrible office staff (they are impossible to reach, ridiculously long hold times, they are not friendly, they are never in at 8am which is what time they’re supposed to be open, I usually wait til after 9am to call and sometimes the after hours answering service still picks up their calls and they are often closed for 2 hours for lunch, ugh!). I can never find a good time to call, and when I actually get them on the phone they are not helpful and rushed to get me off the phone. I know they accept walk ins, but I would just simply like to call ahead before driving 45 min to get there, dragging my two toddlers with me and waiting an hour or two to see the doctor. I’m more understanding about the waiting part since the doctors give such great care to their patients. I just can’t deal with the office staff anymore. I can’t tell you how many others have shown their frustration in the waiting room this past year.
I just found a doctor closer to home that has great customer service, they answered my call right away and had a pleasant tone (which is nice when you’re sick and have no energy), they have great ratings from long-​time patients, looks like another patient lost to Dr. Yacoob and Dr. Mir. I just don’t understand after spending all of those years in medical school and building such a great rapport with their patients, they are letting their office staff ruin their business that they devote so much of their life to. I feel sad for them and don’t understand how they are so blind-​sighted.

Dr. Yacoob coaxed me into having my first ever physical – and I’m 48. Yeah, yeah, I’m a chickensh*t with physicals. I don’t want any bad news. Anyway, she got me to drop trou and I’m feeling much closer to her after this experience. I may have to introduce her to my parents since she’s explored off-​limits frontiers.

Dr Marlene Yacoob is great. Unfortunately her staff is rude and ignorant. I will be looking for another doctor.

I don’t write reviews often but in this case I have had enough of the ineptitude of the office staff at this business and feel I have no choice but to warn others.
I have been there a total of 2 times, loved the doctor who prescribed me two different medications, 1 during each of the two different visits. After the first visit the office staff told me they would submit the medication (Friday). Friday, pharmacy never received prescription. Saturday, pharmacy never received prescription. Called the doctors office Saturday morning in which the phone line was literally disconnected until 60 MINUTES after they open.
I ended up driving to the doctors office because i was in pain. Just before i arrived I miraculously got an answer. The office staff told me they would submit the prescription in the next 15 minutes. 1 hour later, checked with the pharmacy, no prescription received. Called again and again until I talked to someone, this time audibly irritated. This time they told me they would call it in immediately. 45 minutes later, Pharmacy received the prescription, FINALLY. Total phone call attempts to office during business hours: 15, total calls to pharmacy yo confirm: 23.
Today (Monday) marks my second incident. I had an appointment with the doctor (who was great) last week thursday in which he prescribed me the second medication. It is now Monday, 4 BUSINESS DAYS after my prescription was written and the pharmacy still does not have the prescription. Same thing as before, I’ve spent most of the day going back and forth between the office and pharmacy to confirm they received the script. The doctors office kept promising «they’d get to it in 15 minutes.» They did not.
The doctors office is now closed, the pharmacy doesn’t have the script, and I’m without my medication. This review marks the end of the relationship between myself and this business.
The place would be great if you never need medication at any point.

What a wonderful experience I had at this office. Dr. Yacoob was so thorough: she asked me a lot of questions to find out what my symptoms are. Yet she was so sweet and nice at the same time. She’s got a lovely bedside manner and talks to you like you’re a family member instead of a patient. I was really very impressed! Thank you Dr. Yacoob for making me feel so good when I left your office because when I walked in I was feeling just awful!

Dr. Yacoob is a treasure! She’s everything you want in a PCP — she really listens to your concerns, educates you as needed, and is consistently pleasant and knowledgeable.

Been seeing Yacoob for awhile but during my last visit, I noticed the staff being quite unfriendly. They moved locations awhile ago and not sure if she inherited someone’s else’s staff. Not one person said hello or hi, even the person that took me back to the room and took my temperature and blood pressure. No eye contact… nothing. I don’t require a ton of bedside manner but a simple hello is nice. Something to think about if you are thinking about this doctor or office.

Dr Marlene Yacoob is a very special and considerate doctor — Truelely a diamond in the rough!!! — She has taken very special care of my 82 year old mother through her many health issues for the past 15 years as if she were part of her own family. Dr Yacoob calls my mother on weekends, evenings and holidays to inquire on her health and well being, additionally she has also personally visited my mother at hospitals stays to insure of proper care by other physicians — Amazing!!!

The stars that I have deducted is not for Dr. Yacoob rather is for the administration personnel who run the office. My wife had her blood test done with Dr. Yacoob after having a severe stomach flu. We got an email from the office to click on Dr. Yacoob’s portal and see our lab results. When we clicked and logged in to the portal we didn’t see any lab results since the front (or back) office never uploaded my wife’s lab results on the portal. Instead we saw a two page report on Graves Disease. My wife started crying and I was shocked. The only smart thing that I did was to sent a message through the portal and asked them how they came up with this diagnosis and also asked them about our lab results. My wife was still in shock.
After 3 days that we couldn’t sleep and read some bad stuff about the graves disease, somebody responded back (in the portal) that my wife doesn’t have a Graves Disease and that was just a news.
What news! Why they put such a terrible news in the «Lab Results» section?
Very irresponsible and incompetent office. We still can’t believe what we went through in the past few days.

The stars I deducted really aren’t against Dr. Yacoob, but for some contact with front office personnel and over the phone on a couple of occasions that fell somewhere between snippy and downright rude. Dealing with medical and insurance issues is so stressful these days that a person doesn’t really need to be treated as if their requests or questions are an inconvenience.
I do like Dr. Yacoob, though, so have not changed doctors as yet due to this.

Very special Doctor!

Dr. Marlene Yacoob is one in a million. This doctor puts you at ease with her bedside manner and makes you feel heard and understood. I have never been more happy with my choice in a family physician like Dr. Yacoob. Her staff is efficient, friendly and warm which adds to this practice’s appeal. I have referred countless friends to this kind and wonderful doctor!

Out of all the doctors I have ever had, Dr. Yacoob is one of my favorites. Thoughtful, insightful, and has a great way of relating with people. Unfortunately, the medical group (Regal) that my medical insurance let me see her through was such a disaster that I have to switch to another group. I’ll miss you Dr. Yacoob.

Dr. Yacoob is the definition of a doctor that cares for your well being. I’ve been seeing her for the past 10 years and she has always been patient and spend the time to understand the issue, and provide remedies from various angles. She does not just throw you a prescription and give you the «call me in a week if more problems.»
Every time I leave a message or quick question, I get a call back from her within the day with answers. I know she is very busy throughout the day, but she does not rush you in any way on the phone.
She’s a wonderful, wonderful doctor with a heart of gold!
