It doesn’t matter if we take it away or sit in to eat… it’s always perfect! We love taking new people to see their faces light up when they eat pizza for the first time… again! Our last visit in, they said they’ll be moving and adding to the menu. We look forward to the upgraded location and menu. Can’t wait!

Drove an hour round trip Sunday Feb 7th to find them closed. No info on their site, or on the voice mail when I called, to indicate they wouldn’t be open. I’m disappointed I won’t get to try their pizza, because I certainly won’t waste my time returning. If they can’t properly indicate when they are open and closed they clearly don’t care about customers.

This place is awesome and a completely unexpected treasure. We went here based on all of the positive feedback here on Unilocal. While the restaurant itself is extremely plain and the location far from ideal, the food itself was to die for. The sliced pears with balsamic vinegar were delicious, followed by the caprese salad. Our pizzas were delicious. We have been back twice since and both times have been super impressed. The owners tell us they are moving to Chapin in 2016. This is certainly a loss to Irmo, but we will be making the drive to their new restaurant because the food is that good. Give them a try if you want some delicious pizza that tastes nothing like the chain restaurants!

Great little place off the interstate, fresh side salads, inspired pizza, good service. Mentioned they are moving location soon, as this was hrs to see and down a steep driveway, so double check address in the future.

Tell me how I just waited almost two hours for a neapolitan pizza that cooks in 90 seconds.

We ordered 2 pizzas, the Prosciutto and Fig, and the Lita. We also had a Dinner Salad and a Caprese Salad. Everything was fantastic! We brought our own wine and had a great time. The staff was super friendly as well. It’s definitely a must try!

Delicious pizza! We ordered 4 different pizzas to try: margherita, fig and prosciutto, sausage and pepperoni, and prosciutto, artichoke hearts, mushrooms and olives. The crust is thin and crispy from the brick oven. All four pizzas were delicious and the ingredients were fresh. We will definitely be ordering from this hidden gem very often.

You have to treat yourself to one of their extraordinary pizzas. I’m dedicated to real New York thin crust cheese pizza, but you can’t get it here in this part of South Carolina. Hunting for it brought me to Pompeii Oven and I was transported. This is a degree of culinary sophistication you expect in New York or Seattle. Be adventurous, you won’t regret it. Honey? Bacon? Blueberries? Ya, you betcha, and the result is truly delicious. The owners are friendly as family(MUCH friendlier than mine) and enjoy chatting.

I was in town for business and I like to look for local joints or non chain restaurants. Went here because the reviews were great and I was not disappointed. This was the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. I got half cheese and half pepperoni and sausage. The sausage was to die for. I wish I would’ve gotten it on the whole thing. Super thin and enough to take back to the hotel room and finish the next day. A little expensive– $ 20 for the pizza and a San Pellegrino drink but like I said, enough for two meals for one person so I guess it’s ok. Definitely should try this place out if you’re in the area!

The Pompeii Oven is our favorite Friday night place. Their unique pizza combinations are the best. It is always fresh and cooked just perfect. The staff is super friendly, you can’t go wrong. It’s currently BYO so you can bring your cooler with wine and beer!

This place is my go to for good pizza in Irmo. Try the Salmon pizza… The best combination since salmon and bagel. I recommend rewarming in the oven at home for pure crispy awesomeness.

Loved my experience. Such a great idea, and executed so, so well. The pizza is outstanding, and the service was personable and very helpful. If I had to pick something that could be improved then I would have to mention the drink situation. While the lack of selection didn’t bother me, I would suggest bringing something with if you’re dining in.

One of the best pizzas I have eaten and I count my husband and I as aficionados. We have been to Italy and I have to say– this place takes the cake. We had the Lido I believe… goat cheese on pizza? Yes please. Service was also excellent!

If I lived here I would never review this place. It’s small. Too small to take a chance on telling others. I’ve traveled a fair amount. Eaten pizza world wide and enjoyed all the different styles. I love pizza. Been to Columbia for the last 4 years as my daughter was in school. She had 4 meals to pick for graduation weekend. This was one. I wish she was going to grad school so I could go back and try the rest of the pizza menu. We made it through 5 types of the maybe 15 pies on the menu. It may be THEBESTPIZZAIVEEVEREATEN. This place is that special.

Amazing pizza. Wood fired neapolitan style. A friend recommended this place to me and I am now a fan! I’ve had Danos, Village Idiot, Old Chicago, Mellow Mushroom and others and I have to say this is my personal favorite. Best pizza I’ve had in SC! I’m originally from CT and Pompeii Oven is right there with my favorite place back home. I will definitely be back!

I’ve heard such fantastic reviews of The Pompeii Oven that I’ve been wanting to try it for months. The location could be better, but don’t let that discourage you from giving this delicious, authentic little spot a try! My husband and I ordered The Blu, with bacon and blueberries(how can you go wrong?) and The Lita(bacon, again, naturally) at the recommendation of the owner. They were delicious! The super fresh ingredients and the Neapolitan style makes this pizza incomparable to any other pizza restaurant(certainly, in Columbia)! There are so many delicious and unique ingredient combinations that we will definitely make this a regular date night location. Combined with the friendly, accommodating atmosphere created by the staff — this is absolutely a 5 star experience!
